Chapter Twenty-One

Will sat in his office, his desk filled with papers and documents. He scratched his temples, feeling the weight of the day bear down on him. His firm had been facing a series of unexplainable setbacks, and despite his best efforts, he was unable to determine the cause of the problem. It seemed as if someone was actively sabotaging his attempts.

Just as he was ready to depart for the day, his phone vibrated with an incoming call. He peered at the computer and recognized Mark, one of his most trusted coworkers.

"Hello, Mark. "What's up?" Will responded, attempting to sound more enthusiastic than he felt.

"Will, we should discuss. "It's all about the company," Mark continued, his voice low and anxious. "Can we meet in the bar around the block in 30 minutes? It's important."

Will's heart fell. Mark was not someone who exaggerated or made frivolous demands. "Sure, I'll be there."
