Amelia watched the clock as it stroked at 11 pm still Leo wasn't back. 'Looks like he won't be coming home tonight,’ she thought.
Her heart sank as she began walking towards her bedroom.
Just then the sound of a light click came from the front door and her heart lifted as she hurried over. “Leo, you are back.”
Leo was wearing a dark cashmere coat and his tall figure looked even more handsome and cold in the cold winter. At the first sight of Amelia, he said, “Amelia I have something to tell you.”
Amelia was stunned and her intuition told her that something was off about Leo tonight. But she placed my hands on her slightly bulging belly and smiled.
“Sure, I also have something to tell you. I prepared your favorite meal, why don't you eat first, then we will discuss it later.”
“Sophia is pregnant, let's get a divorce!”
“What?”
Amelia swallowed painfully and her smile faded. It was like a heavy hammer had struck her and she stood there in disbelief.
Leo continued, “She is already three months gone. I promised Damien that I would take good care of her and I can't go back on my word. You have to give up your position as Mrs. Reynold, you have been occupying that position for three years now.”
Amelia felt a tickle in her eyes but she tried to hold back the tears. “No Leo you can't do this to me.”
“I have been faithful to you, I sacrificed everything for you even my career and now you got Sophia pregnant not only that you want to divorce me. Did the three years I spent as your wife mean nothing to you?”
Leo's face turned stone cold and he stared at her with no emotion. “It meant nothing to me Amelia, I never loved you and I never will, you are like a pest that has been hard to get rid of. Now that Sophia is pregnant I finally have a reason to get rid of you.”
The tears Amelia was trying hard to suppress finally streamed down her cheeks. She knew Leo never loved her but hearing him say it out loud shattered her heart into pieces.
“I won't divorce you.” She said vehemently, wiping the tears off her face and sniffing.
Leo's face darkened as he strode towards her. He held her chin tightly and she writhed in pain.
“It hurts Leo.”
“I will make life more miserable for you if you refuse. My grandfather isn't alive to save you from my wrath anymore.”
Just then his phone rang and he released her chin.
Leo answered the phone, and his face changed drastically after a few seconds. “What did you say? Sophia had an accident?”
“Take her to the hospital right away. I'll be right there. Make sure nothing happens to her and the baby.” He hung up the phone and was in a hurry to leave but Amelia grabbed him immediately.
“Where are you going? It's so late and you still want to go to Sophia? You can't go.”
Leo immediately shook her off and she fell hard on her butt “Sophia had an accident. Do you want me to sit back and watch her die knowing fully well she is pregnant with my child? Amelia, don't be so heartless.”
After he finished speaking, he pushed the door and walked out. Amelia's heart sank, and she felt all the grievances she had been suppressing for years suddenly burst out.
She rushed out and shouted. “I am your wife, Leo, do you want me to just sit back and watch you go to another woman without any reaction?”
Leo stopped, and his next words completely crushed her.
“Have you forgotten how you became my wife? I was forced to marry you. If it weren't for you back then, Damien wouldn't have died. I have put up with you for three years. Not sending you to jail was for the sake of our families’ reputation.”
Memories of the past flooded her mind and her face turned pale.
Three years ago, Amelia was about to marry into the Reynold family when news broke out that Leo had been in an accident and Damien had died trying to save him.
Afterward, all clues pointed to her, saying she had deliberately tampered with the car to cause the accident, due to lack of sufficient evidence the prosecution did not bring charges against her. She thought that this would prove her innocence, but it turned out that Leo never believed her.
Amelia's heart gradually sank as tears filled her eyes. “I didn't kill Damien, I have explained this to you many times. And you know how much I love you, why will I tamper with your car? Don't you think this is ridiculous?”
Leo sneered at her. “It is ridiculous and I ridiculously followed my grandfather's wish and married you, but do you know what I was thinking?”
“I was thinking about when you would die. Do you know how disgusted I feel every time I see you in the past three years? Every time I see you, I think of how Damien died. I wish you would go to hell immediately and accompany him.”
As if struck by lightning, Amelia stepped back in disbelief. Suddenly she remembered all the coldness and disgust Leo had shown her over the past few years. She had never understood why, and now she finally had the answer.
“So… this is what you think? You think I'm a murderer, I've explained to you over the past three years, and you still don't believe me?”
“Yes!” Leo answered without hesitation, looking at her as if she was a stranger.
“In my eyes, you are like a clown jumping around, making me not only disgusted but also not worthy of hating you. Because it would make my hatred for you cheap and dirty.”
Amelia shuddered violently and her body collapsed completely. They had been married for three years, and she had always known that there was a knot in Leo's heart.
She thought she could influence him with her efforts to trust her even if she couldn't make him love her, they could at least maintain a respectful relationship.
But the result… he not only wanted her dead, but also found her disgusting?
“I understand now, So in your heart, I am this kind of person. Leo, it turns out that all these years, it wasn't you who misunderstood me, but I who misunderstood you.”
Tears slid down her cheeks, and her body trembled in pain.
Leo's eyebrows twisted slightly and for a moment, his heart seemed to soften.
But the next second his phone rang again.
“Mr. Reynold, when are you coming? Miss Sophia is bleeding from her lower body, and the baby may not survive.”
Leo's eyes tightened and he quickly said, “Do everything you can to save the child, and nothing must happen to the mother. I'll be there right away.” He didn't have time to think too much and hung up the phone before stuffing the divorce agreement into Amelia's arm. “Just sign it and leave it at home. I'll send someone to pick it up later. Make sure you are gone before I return.” With that, he got into his car and hurriedly drove away. Amelia held the divorce agreement and watched the car disappear into the distance, feeling as if her heart had turned to ashes. Was there really no need to salvage this marriage? She didn't even bother to read the contents of the agreement, hastily signed it, and then packed a few of her clothes into a large suitcase before heading downstairs. The maid, Dora, was surprised to see her carrying a large suitcase down so late at night. “Madam, where are you going?” Amelia remembered Leo's words and sneered. “Don't call me madam anymore just call me M
Leo's heartless words rang in her ears once again. “Amelia I wonder when you will die, I wish you could go to hell right away and accompany Damien.”Tears streamed down her face. ‘Leo, so you wanted to kill me from the beginning and never intended to let me go, right?’Endless regret and pain overwhelmed her but in the end, it was Henry who pulled her back.“Amy, don't waste time talking to them. These bastards clearly want to kill us. There is a huge reef over there, if we swim over with all our might, and grit our teeth, we'll be rescued.”Following his finger, Amelia looked over and saw a dark, towering rock in the hazy night. Realizing this she nodded quickly. So the two of them swam with all their might towards the reef. The winter sea was like a sharp knife cutting into them over and over again, almost like torture. Fortunately, the distance wasn't too far and they soon arrived. However, Amelia was too exhausted to climb up.“Amy, step on my shoulders and climb up. Grab unto t
Mr Wilson was the man who saved her six years ago, he was also the chairman of the Wilson Group with a significant influence abroad. When Amelia arrived at the garden, she saw Mr Wilson sitting in a wheelchair, with white hair despite being only sixty years old.He said that his leg was amputated due to an accident twenty years ago, and his wife passed away in that accident. He saved Amelia because she reminded him of his wife with her facial features which brought back many memories for him. Amelia was grateful for his life-saving kindness, so she worked at Wilson Group and has now risen to the position of vice president.Amelia walked up to him and respectfully said. “Mr. Wilson, you were looking for me.”Mr. Wilson pointed to the seat opposite him and asked her to sit down. “Are your things packed? You're leaving for New York this afternoon right?”“Yes, everything is packed.”“Let me show you something.”He picked up a tablet from the table and showed her a picture. “Do you reco
Leo saw her walking towards the showroom and couldn't help but follow her. After making his way through the crowd to get behind her, he reached out and tapped her on the shoulder. The woman turned around but it was a completely unfamiliar face. “What do you want?” The other person didn't know him, but upon seeing his luxurious attire, she immediately smiled warmly. “Do you want my number?” She said taking out her phone.Leo's face darkened, and he coldly said, “Sorry I got the wrong person.” After speaking he left without hesitation. The woman was stunned and angrily cursed. “Are you crazy? You mistook someone on the street. Are you blind?”However, the only response she received was Leo's merciless back. Not far away, Amelia, wearing the same coat as the woman, stood in the crowd, watching Leo's back with a cold smile. “Leo, six years ago I treated you like a treasure, but you didn't cherish it. I will never give you the chance to hurt me again.” She put on her mask and turned to
Not long after Amelia drove out, she realized that someone was following her from behind. She gave a cold smile and stepped on the gas pedal. Soon, James found out the car was gone, replaced by chaotic traffic. He became anxious. “Young master, I think I lost her.” Leo also noticed and his face became even more unpleasant. “Damn it,” he muttered. Six years ago, Amelia was still a little girl who would get nervous just by touching the steering wheel. But now, she seems to have become more capable. “Did you get the license plate number?” James was stunned for a moment but quickly reacted. “Yes sir.” “Go check the location of the car.” “Okay, sir.” Finally getting rid of the follower, Amelia breathed a sigh of relief. She opened her phone and saw that there were already posts about the Butterfly brand's event online. Sophia's disheveled and frightened appearance was captured on camera. Along with the drowning video, and posted online. The comment section was already floode
Amelia was taken aback, she was somewhat annoyed with herself. She didn't think that way, but for some reason, when the words came out of her mouth they sounded like she cared too much about him. Amelia didn't want to continue the conversation so she changed the subject. “Mr. Reynold, why don't you tell me the purpose of your visit?” Leo didn't pursue the matter and simply asked, “What do you want?” Straightforward that was his style. Amelia smiled a smile that was tinged with sarcasm. “Mr Reynold, are you negotiating with me? Do you want to settle this privately?” Leo didn't deny it. “I didn't know about the plagiarism, but that's not an excuse. If you have any conditions, feel free to state them. I will try my best to fulfill them.” This time Amelia looked at him with a new perspective. Putting aside their personal feelings, in the business world, Leo Reynold was indeed a worthy opponent. It was just a pity he killed Henry. The thought of this made her unable to control
Leo looked at her with cold eyes but said nothing. He had a strong aura and even when he was silent he exuded a chilling atmosphere like an ancient inscrutable emperor making people tremble in fear.Sophia was a little nervous but in order not to reveal anything she forced herself to remain calm.“I've already had someone call Jane over she's in the next room if you don't believe me you can confront her,” she said biting her lips and trying to hide her distress.Only then did Leo slightly relax his brows and ask in a deep voice, “What of the video posted? What's going on? “I'm not sure. The scene was a bit chaotic at the time and I didn't get a good look, but from the voice, it seemed like it was Amelia.”“Leo, do you think Amelia was still holding a grudge after her death and knowing that we were together deliberately made the video to get back at us?”Leo furrowed his brows slightly. The next second Sophia laughed and said, “What am I saying? How could there be ghosts in this world
Mark awkwardly smiled and said, “Before our company had a small team and the workload was light so everyone got used to being casual. Don't worry I will make a big effort to rectify this in the next few days. We will never let this kind of thing happen again.”Amelia furrowed her brows. “It's okay as long as the job is done well.”She paused and said, “Mr Mark you can leave now I will contact you if I have any questions after reviewing the documents.”“Okay ma'am”After Mark left Amelia quickly took out her phone.Sure enough, Leo was trending on all social media platforms. As the heir of Reynold Corporation, Leo was once rated as the most handsome Diamond bachelor by major media outlets due to his youth, wealth, and good looks. He was even jokingly referred to as the national husband by netizens because there were too many women who wanted to marry him.Now his name was prominently displayed on the hot list, followed by hashtag #Exwife#.She clicked on it and saw the content of the p
Leo claimed her mouth in a kiss that was rough and filled with longing, devouring her like a hungry wolf that had been starved for days. Amelia matched his intensity, intertwining her fingers in his hair while moaning between the kisses. His hands moved up her body, exploring every inch as if he had been waiting for this moment forever and had finally gotten the opportunity. She gasped when his fingers brushed her nipple, which was already hard and longing to be licked and devoured by his mouth. She could feel the hardness of his desire pressing against her, only intensifying her own need. “You drive me crazy Amelia Smith,” he murmured against her lips. “I miss you and I don’t want to hold back tonight. I want every part of you baby girl.” “Then don’t hold back,” she quickly replied, her voice barely more than a whisper. “I’m all yours, claim me, Daddy.” Her words made his hormones rise even further. Without breaking the kiss, he hurriedly lifted her and carried her t
The next day, the news spread online that Sophia committed suicide by hanging herself in prison. It felt strange and heavy but for Amelia, it meant a bitter-sweet relief. She woke up with a slight headache, the sunlight streaming through the curtains. Last night memories flooded through her mind—Leo's warm embrace, his apology and reassurance, the soft kiss that stirred long-hidden feelings. Her cheeks warmed and the color turned a shade of pink. She reached out for Leo who was already awake, sitting against the headboard with a look of concern etched on his face. “Morning, beautiful,” he said softly, studying her face for any signs of distress. “Morning,” Amelia replied, blushing and rubbing her temples. “What happened last night? I remember bits and pieces.” That was a lie, she remembered every single detail but just wanted to play innocent. Leo smiled gently. “You had a little too much fun celebrating your aunt's recovery. But it was a good night for us.” Ame
A month later, Aunt Elsa’s condition had stabilized. The surgical wound had nearly healed, and all that was left was some aftercare. Once home, she could take her medication and recuperate slowly without needing further hospitalization. Early that morning, Amelia went to the hospital to handle Aunt Elsa’s discharge procedures. In the hospital room, Aunt Elsa was sitting on the bed, watching TV. Seeing Amelia come in, Aunt Elsa smiled and said, “You’re just in time. Come and see this.” She pointed to the TV. Curious, Amelia looked over and saw the news playing. A familiar face appeared on the screen, and the host’s flat, detached voice filled the room. “Recently, the sensational murder case has concluded. The primary culprit, Sophia Jones, has been found guilty of her crime." "Due to the severity and serial nature of the case, she has been sentenced to life imprisonment.” Amelia blinked rapidly, her thoughts swirling as she tried to process the news. Life imprisonm
That night, Aunt Elsa woke up. Blake checked on her and found her condition better than he had expected. Perhaps Amelia’s persistence had truly moved the heavens, as the cancer cells had cleared, and even the memory loss Blake had anticipated wasn’t present. It all seemed too good to be true. When Amelia heard the news, she was naturally overjoyed. Leo also heard about Elsa’s successful surgery. He didn’t say much, but that night, he quietly ordered the kitchen to prepare a few extra dishes, silently celebrating Elsa’s recovery. Amelia had agreed to marry Leo to secure Blake’s help for Aunt Elsa. Now that Aunt Elsa was nearly healed, Amelia realized her relationship with Leo was a temporary fix. She knew she had to find a way to completely cut ties with him. That night, Amelia decided to cook a few dishes herself. To prevent anyone from interrupting her plan, she sent the children out with Eleven for the night. Then, she dismissed the household staff Leo had hired for th
As Inspector Ralph led Sophia to the police station, her heart raced with a mix of fear and disbelief.Soon, they arrived, and one of the officers led her into the interrogation room and gestured towards a chair, "Miss Jones, please take a seat. Inspector Ralph will be here shortly."With that he left, leaving her all alone in the room. The cold, bare room did nothing to calm her racing heart it only made her heart beat faster with each passing second. The walls were painted a dull gray, and the only light was a flickering fluorescent bulb that buzzed overhead. The smell of cleaning products filled the air, making her even more anxious. She never imagined that one day she would end up in this kind of situation. She stood up to reduce the pacing of her heart and her trembling fingers.Soon, the door opened and Inspector Ralph walked in. Sophia sat down, trying to stay calm and composed. "What kind of nightmare is this?" She thought. "Can I wake up already?" She pinched herself and
She said in a calm voice, “You didn’t do anything wrong, and I don’t need your apology.” Once, those words had been what she wanted most, but now they meant nothing to her. The bitterness of the past clung to her like a heavy fog. She’d never considered forgiving him, so how could she accept it? After Amelia finished speaking, Leo felt a tightening in his chest. He ran a hand through his hair, frustration coursing through him as he processed the weight of her words. “Don’t say that. We were all kept in the dark before. Now that the truth is out, you know I didn’t do those things on purpose, right?” he said quickly, his voice rising slightly. Amelia sneered. “Yes, you didn’t do it on purpose, but can the pain I suffered over the years be forgotten? Leo, you didn’t personally send someone to kill us, but back then, you did divorce me because of Sophia, didn’t you?” “I can’t hate you, but I can never forgive you. We can’t pretend those years never happened. Neither you nor I c
The sentence made both Amelia and Leo furrow their brows. They exchanged curious glances, wondering what could prompt Black Cobra to say such a thing. Leo’s gaze hardened as he made a decision. “Pardon the living, punish the dead.” With those words, he signaled his agreement to Black Cobra’s condition. Black Cobra breathed a sigh of relief. At least he had a chance to keep living to protect his family. He knew his death would endanger their lives, and he couldn’t risk it. He then revealed the secret he’d been hiding. “The accident that led to your best friend Damien's death had nothing to do with Amelia. She wasn't the one responsible." The revelation left them both stunned. Relief washed over Amelia. Damien’s death had nothing to do with her; while surprising, Black Cobra’s words intrigued her even more. Still, she was curious to know who had caused the accident that led to Damien's death and why they’d framed her. With questions swirling in her mind, she looked at
After getting out of the car, James opened the door, and they walked into the building. As soon as they entered, Amelia’s first impression was the smell of blood. The lights turned on, revealing a man lying on the marble floor of the living room, covered in blood. His hair clung together with sweat and blood, and both of his hands hung limply, possibly broken. His legs twisted in an unnatural position, making him look grotesque. Amelia felt as if she had seen him from somewhere. Leo gestured to James, who stepped forward and brushed away the hair covering the man’s face, revealing the person who had kidnapped her before. “How did he end up here?” Amelia asked in disbelief. Leo glanced at her. “What do you think?” It suddenly dawned on Amelia that Leo’s promise of a show tonight referred to this. Her eyes turned cold. She wasn’t a saint and wouldn’t sympathize with someone who had tried to harm her. “Who sent you to kidnap me?” she asked, her voice icy. Black Cobra had
On the ground, lay a mobile phone from which Sophia's voice echoed. “Have you taken action? This is your last chance Cobra, I won’t allow any more mistakes,” Sophia said sharply. Black Cobra replied coldly, “Don’t worry. This time, either she dies or I perish.” After several failures, Black Cobra’s patience had worn completely thin. Combined with Sophia’s relentless pursuit and threats, he felt trapped with no way out. He knew that failure was not an option this time, the future of his family hung in the balance, and the pressure weighed heavily on him. After speaking, Black Cobra picked up the sniper rifle. He believed that as long as Amelia dared to come out, he could kill her. Even if he was caught afterward, he would not regret it. Sophia listened to the commotion on the other end and breathed a sigh of relief before hanging up the phone. Meanwhile, at Wilson’s Domestic Group, Amelia was about to leave the office when her assistant informed her of Leo’s presence in t
