POV of Jennifer

In comparison to my height of 5'6, the man was an intimidatingly towering 6'0. His large build allowed you to see his muscles through his shirt. He exuded a sense of dominance, which made me cautious of him even more.

My protective stance caused my muscles to stiffen up. I kept a wary eye on him, expecting him to strike me or yell at me for trying to get away. I reflexively trembled when he raised his fists, squeezing my eyes tight in anticipation of a punch. I waited for a few seconds, but there was no hit. He was in the "I surrender" position with both hands in the air when I first opened my eyes. He was looking at me with interest.

I won't harm you, I assure you. There was no way in hell I was trusting him since I didn't believe him. I remained silent while watching him in anticipation of his response. I'm Tarra, the Mountain Ridge pack's beta. You can address me as Casper. He extended his hand for a handshake, but I took a step back to maintain a safe gap between us. He sighed and let go of my hand after I refused to shake it.

"Who are you called?", He queried. I remained silent. He sighed once more and combed his hair with his palm. I quickly backed away as a girl entered through the door. being unwilling to be outnumbered. I became even tenser. "I was unable to locate the doctor," said the girl.

As a result of my racing heart and laboured breathing, my ribs burned and hurt. My leg was in excruciating pain as a result of me standing on it. I continued to back up, grunting in pain as my back hit the wall.

Why don't we set you down so we can talk, I said. He started to approach me once more, but I growled at him to back off. Could you give me a minute? he asked the girl at the door after backing up a few steps. After giving a quick nod, the girl left the room. I kept a close eye on it to make sure she did go.

That was only my friend, Salman, so it's all right.

I stumbled back toward the bed, eager to get comfortable. He sat down across from me in the chair I was intending to use to break the window. Since neither of us knew what to say, the room fell silent.

He wasn't my type, but the more I stared at him, the more I realized how handsome he was. He had heavy eyebrows, a straight nose, and a defined jaw. He had bright brown eyes and dark, unruly hair in bronze.

Why am I here? I queried. Speaking was a little painful, and my voice was getting a little hoarse from lack of usage. He was surprised when I spoke and gave me a startled expression.

"Two nights ago, I discovered you at the pack line. You were about to be attacked by a rogue when I stepped in. I dragged you back here after putting that garment on since you looked rather battered. He was slightly flushed. Without saying anything further, I nodded. Back to silence we went.

A senior gentleman entered the room just then. He was dressed in scrubs and a white lab coat. I noticed some blood splatters, my eyes started to widen, and I took a slight step back.

The man gave Tarra a respectful nod of recognition.

"Good day, Sweetheart. Dr Brian here. I was the one who got you all fixed up. I didn't respond to him. "I need to examine your wounds to determine whether they are healing properly. Is that alright? I was on the fence but decided. He removed the bandage from my leg, and I wasn't okay with that either. I twisted it back and forth to see the stitches more clearly. Then, when he approached my midsection, I noticed Tarra turning aside out of respect for my privacy.

The doctor followed suit and noted some information on a clipboard. He produced two orange capsules for pills and gave them to me. You are good to go, but I need you to take that medicine every day to prevent infection and that one when you experience any pain, he said, pointing to one of the containers. I blinked. He nodded respectfully to Tarra while grinning at me before he exited the room.

Would you like to clean up and take a shower?" I bowed once again. I had blood and filth all over me, some of it not even mine.

"All right, I'll get Salman to come in so she can escort you to your room and give you some clothes."

His eyes lost some of their concentration, which alarmed me. The girl came back a short while later with a wheelchair and a stack of clothing. She said in a positive tone "Your name is Jennifer, am I correct?". I blinked. She pushed me to an open door after helping me get into the chair.

There was a stunning room inside with a queen bed and a lovely view of a pine forest. She rolled me over to a door and led me inside to the restroom.

Salman helped me operate the bath because I didn't know how to. She left the room after giving me some body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and fresh towels.

As I sat in the warm tub, I saw the clear water begin to become pink from the dried blood of those I had killed.

I felt as though everyone was staring at me, so I stood up. I had no place here. When I saw the pack house, I hurried straight

POV of Jennifer When I heard the purr of a car approaching from a distance of a few kilometers, I realized I had to begin traveling back. By listening to the noises the car was making, you could almost hear how pricey it was. He was the fabled Alpha that everyone was talking about, so I knew it had to be him. No one would need to return to this region because there was nothing nearby for miles. I would know because I've been foraging and attempting to memorize the area for the past week.I turned my head to the west, where the car was approaching from. The distant Talk Mountains almost seemed to be tempting me to sprint over to them. I only had to move quickly. I could get away from the Alpha's rule and the pack. There was nobody nearby or in the area to stop me. I only needed to be more careful the following time to avoid getting caught in order for me to be free. Not me. I could have, but I didn't. I turned around and went back the other way, east. Running would have been a gesture

The night's calm was broken by a scream. The men were shrieking instructions at each other and the other women were yelling in terror, which I could hear. My hackles stood up in fear when I smelled burning oak trees wafting through the woodland. Most likely, the males were participating in one of their so-called "buzz parties." In the middle of nowhere, they build a large campfire and become quite intoxicated. I'm not any more relieved as a result. They would occasionally leave us alone, get so wasted that they would just pass out, come back the next day with terrible hangovers, and spend the entire day sleeping. Most of the time, they would circle and select one of us, beating us mercilessly; if you managed to live, you were lucky. I've already witnessed it once. They smelled strongly of beer and vomit. I felt queasy from the mere thought of it.Then I noticed the men sprinting through the trees while holding torches over a roaring fire. My snout burned from the gasoline odour that
