Why are you taking so long?

"Grandpa invited us to lunch, so we have to meet him," he said. The man turned around and headed towards the elevator at the end of the corridor.

"I need to tidy up my desk first, sir. And grab my bag," Gwen interrupted the man's steps.

"Hurry up, clean up. I'll wait downstairs."

Gwen stood frozen, trying to convince herself that she was now going to lunch alone with her boss and his family. "Is this a dream?" she muttered while patting her cheeks. "Don't be too happy; he doesn't like women. You're just an excuse," she continued, quickly straightening her desk. Gwen didn't forget to put her phone in her bag.

With hurried steps, she headed to the elevator. Fortunately, the elevator came quickly; she entered and pressed the button on the wall, aiming for the basement floor where the company executives parked their vehicles. In a few seconds, she had arrived at the parking lot.

Gwen scanned her surroundings, fascinated by the rows of expensive cars. "Which one is Mr. Boss's car," she wondered.

"Why are you taking so long? We don't have time," suddenly, a hand pulled her from behind, and it turned out to be Dominic. He was annoyed because Gwen hadn't come. He guided the new employee to his car parked at the back.

Gwen widened her eyes when she saw Dominic's car, a luxury vehicle from a famous brand that impressed her. She didn't expect to ride in a car as good and expensive as that. Dominic's second reprimand made her realize, and she quickly got into the car.

"What's wrong?" Dom asked, watching Gwen struggling to fasten her seatbelt.

"The belt is hard to pull, sir," she replied.

Dominic leaned forward to help Gwen fasten her seatbelt. "Is it comfortable now?" Dominic asked. Instead of answering, Gwen froze in place. Her face was very close to his, and she thought Dominic looked beautiful and handsome at the same time. His long hair added a sexy impression. "Hello..."

"S-sorry, sir," she said, shifting her face.

Dominic returned to the driver's side; he pressed the gas pedal hard, and the vehicle started moving away from the office building towards the city center. The traffic conditions made the travel time longer. It should have taken 30 minutes, but now they were only halfway through.

"Behave as if we're dating," Dominic said suddenly. "Let's make my Grandpa happy first, after that, I'll find a reason for us to break up. Understand?"

"Understood, sir."

"Don't call me sir later; just call me Dom or Dominic," he added.

"Yes, sir."

The situation fell silent again, and Gwen was busy looking at the scenery outside the window, while Dominic focused on driving. After passing through the long traffic jam, they finally arrived at a well-known Japanese restaurant.

"Do you want to freshen up?" Dominic asked, staring intensely at the woman next to him. Gwen quickly took out her phone and looked at her face there. "I have this; use it."

Once again, Gwen was surprised to see the box Dominic gave her; she didn't expect him to have beauty products. "Is this yours?"

"No, it's my sister's; she left it in the car," Dominic explained. A smile instantly spread across Gwen's face; she took the box and opened it. It contained makeup tools from a high-end brand. "Quickly use it; I'll wait outside."

"Okay, Boss," she whispered. Gwen used powder and lipstick to fix her makeup. After that, she quickly got out of the car and walked alongside Dominic towards the entrance of the expensive restaurant.

They went up to the second floor, more precisely towards the VIP room. The restaurant provided a VIP room so that visitors could enjoy their food in a closed room, giving a private impression.

Apparently, Mr. Charles had already arrived in the room, waiting for the arrival of the two. "Sorry for being late, Grandpa, we got stuck in traffic," Dominic explained, his tone of speech changed when in front of his grandfather.

"Hi, Gwen, what would you like to eat?" Grandpa asked, talking to Gwen rather than his grandson.

"Honestly, I've never been to a Japanese restaurant," Gwen confessed, trying to be honest despite receiving a sharp look from Dominic. She glanced briefly at the menu, and there wasn't a single dish she knew.

"Why?"

"I don't like Japanese cuisine," she lied. Gwen wanted to continue being honest, but she was disturbed by Dominic's attitude, so she had to divert her statement. "Can Grandpa recommend a dish for me to try?"

"I really like honest girls like this one," Grandpa replied. It turned out he liked Gwen just the way she was. "Alright, since my grandson has requested it, I'll choose a dish for you."

Tuan Charles mentioned several signature dishes of the restaurant while showing their pictures and describing the taste. On the other side, Dominic had a flat expression; he felt that Gwen was more suitable for his grandfather than himself.

The waiter came into the room, and Grandpa quickly informed him about the food they would order, including Dominic's favorite dishes. The elder man already knew his grandson's favorite menu. "Alright, we'll wait for the food."

The room fell silent again. Gwen was busy lowering her head, while Dominic played with his phone, and Tuan Charles had been observing them since earlier. "Are you two having a fight?"

Instantly, all eyes turned towards the middle-aged man. "No, Grandpa, we're not fighting," Dominic quickly replied. He immediately put away his phone and moved closer to Gwen. The young woman did the same, shifting towards Dominic.

"It's just a little difference of opinion earlier, Grandpa."

"Differences of opinion are normal," said Grandpa.

Gwen tried to find a topic of conversation to make the atmosphere more relaxed. Their activities were interrupted as the waiter brought the ordered food. The three of them were busy enjoying their meal. Gwen, who was trying Japanese cuisine for the first time, was enjoying Grandpa Dominic's chosen menu.

"I'm glad you like that dish," Grandpa said, seeing Gwen happily eating.

Dominic also paid attention to Gwen. Suddenly, he fed her some of his favorite dishes. "Try it; this is my favorite."

Gwen looked awkward, but she remembered Dominic's command that they had to look like a couple. So, she had to participate in the drama initiated by her boss.

She tried to act sweet towards Dominic, and he reciprocated. She felt relieved when she saw the happy face of the middle-aged man in front of her. Gwen understood Tuan Charles's sadness upon hearing the gossip about his grandson.

"Don't daydream," Dominic teased, nudging his employee with his elbow.

"S-sorry," Gwen whispered.

"Maybe Gwen is thinking about something," Tuan Charles continued. Gwen could only smile. "She's probably thinking about the right time to get married. So, when are you two getting married?"

“Married?”
