Are you getting out?

“What are you doing?” the old man demanded. “Or maybe you two fought, and Gwen left you. Come on, Dominic, you’re supposed to be on your honeymoon, why—”

“No, Grandpa, we didn’t fight. Our relationship is fine, Gwen just went out to buy something,” Dominic interrupted his grandfather.

“Buy what? Why didn’t you just send someone to get whatever you need?” the old man replied, still suspicious that something might be amiss between his two grandchildren.

From a distance, Gwen appeared, panicked when she saw Grandpa standing in front of her husband's room door. She had no choice but to keep walking and start thinking of an excuse for why she was outside the room.

Dominic felt relieved when he saw his wife walking toward them. “So, did you get what you were looking for?” Dominic asked his wife. Gwen, not knowing what her husband meant, became confused, especially when Grandpa also asked her.

“What were you looking for?”

“Something for women, so I had to go get it myself,” Gwen replied convincingly.

Mr. Charles understood and stopped thinking ill of the couple. “Good, if everything is alright, come down quickly. We don’t have much time left.”

“Okay, Grandpa, we’ll be down soon,” Dominic replied.

Dominic and Gwen went back inside after Mr. Charles left, rechecking their luggage. Once everything was ready, they headed downstairs to meet with Grandpa.

“You’re late, your plane has already taken off,” Grandpa said, which shocked the couple. “Don’t worry, I’ve rearranged your flight.”

Mr. Charles’s assistant handed over the tickets and necessary documents. “Thank you, Grandpa,” Gwen said, accepting the papers.

“Hurry up and get to the airport,” Grandpa ordered.

“Thank you for the honeymoon gift, Grandpa,” Dominic said, hugging his grandfather, and Gwen did the same.

“Hopefully, there will be good news after your vacation, Gwen, you know what I mean,” Grandpa teased. “Have a great trip, enjoy yourselves. Dominic, you must take care of your wife.”

“Sure, Grandpa, don’t worry. We’ll take care of each other,” Dominic assured. After another round of hugs, they headed to the car prepared by their closest family member.

The trip to the airport took two hours. Once there, they completed ticket checks and other procedures. Soon after, the young couple boarded the plane and prepared for the 8-hour flight to their destination.

Upon arrival, someone was already waiting to take them to their accommodation. During the drive to the hotel, Gwen couldn't stop admiring the island's scenery, while Dominic was busy with his phone, receiving a report from his secretary about an important company meeting happening without him.

“We’re here, are you getting out?” Gwen nudged her husband.

Dominic glanced at Gwen and then put his phone away. “We’re getting out now,” he said. They began unloading from the car, with the driver helping with their luggage.

“Thank you, James, for your help,” Dominic said, shaking the driver’s hand.

“You’re welcome, Mr. Cartwright. Have a great holiday,” the driver replied.

With the help of a bellboy, their luggage was brought to their room. Dominic tipped the staff while Gwen walked to the wide-open window. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened in awe at the beautiful evening sky.

“Don’t be surprised if the sky still looks beautiful, there’s a significant time difference between home and here.”

“Don’t act like you know everything. Who said I was surprised? I’m just admiring God’s creation,” Gwen retorted, not wanting to admit her husband was right.

“Save the admiration for later, let’s unpack first,” Dominic ordered. Gwen obeyed and started unpacking their suitcases, organizing their bathroom essentials.

It was Gwen's first time in a bathroom the size of her old apartment. Seeing the large bathtub made her want to soak, but she held off because they hadn’t finished unpacking.

She took out clothes for the evening and the next day, while Dominic organized his work materials. He intended to spend part of their vacation working, as his company had a new project that needed his attention, and he couldn’t leave everything to his assistant.

Unlike his wife, who was excited to see the views since their arrival, Dominic showed no interest in the scenery around the hotel. Instead, he preferred relaxing and watching TV.

“I’m going to shower first,” Gwen announced as she entered the bathroom. Dominic didn’t respond, his focus still on the flat screen mounted on the wall. “Don’t even think about peeking.”

“I’m allowed to see you, why would I peek?” Dominic replied without looking at his pouting wife.

“Just because you’re allowed doesn’t mean I give you permission,” Gwen shot back as she closed the bathroom door. Soon, the sound of running water could be heard.

Gwen followed through with her plan to soak in the bathtub filled with rose-scented bubbles. She had never felt so relaxed; all the stress and fatigue from the flight melted away.

Meanwhile, Dominic relieved his stress by sleeping, his characteristic snoring filling the room. He was exhausted, understandably so, as it was his longest flight ever. Usually, he only traveled to neighboring countries, but this time the destination was much farther. If it weren’t for maintaining his reputation with his grandfather, he wouldn’t have taken such a trip.

“He’s asleep,” Gwen whispered when she found her husband sleeping. “He must be exhausted.”

Gwen tried not to make any noise, fearing she might wake Dominic. She even decided against sleeping next to him. Instead, she went out to the balcony to enjoy the breeze and took pictures of the sky to show her friends later.

“Tsuri will be so jealous and want to take these photos,” she said, admiring the pictures she captured with her phone.

“Who gave you permission to go back to the office?”
