“Crystal. I need you to understand that things are different now - no baby - don’t cry. It’s just that you and I can’t live together right now.”

I remember my barely fourteen year old self shedding tears. I remember being afraid, confused too. Abandoned.

”Your Uncle Victor will take really good care of you.” She continued as she wiped my tears with her sweater sleeves.

It was no use, the tears still rolled down my cheeks. Why didn’t my own mother want me?

Was I cursed? Was this thing I was turning into the problem?

”Baby, mummy needs to go now, okay?” She continued.

”No.” I protested as I held on to her. “Don’t leave me, mum.”

“It’s okay, baby girl.” She cooed as she stroked my hair. “Mummy loves you, okay? She loves you so so much.”

She took the crescent necklace that hang around my neck and then took out her own from under her sweater.

”We’re always connected, my love, one way or another, we’re Van Cliff wolves. I’ll be back for you. I promise.” Her eyes glowed blue and mine mirror
