Her Fears

“When will you do it?” Jill’s eyes roamed, settling on her best friend in the distance. A significant span had passed since the two engaged in a heartfelt conversation.

“Tomorrow, I’ve made up my mind,” Wayne declared.

“Why not now?” Jill’s urgency cut through. “I want to know the answer.”

“Chill, will you,” Wayne requested, a hint of nervousness creasing his expression. “Give me time to prepare myself.”

“I guess I should also prepare myself,” she replied, a tinge of sadness in her tone. “But to be honest, I don’t think April is in the right mind.” She conveyed her concern.

“What gives?” he asked.

“Well, it feels like she’s been keeping a distance from us,” Jill observed. “Something must have happened.”

“You think?” Wayne wondered, acknowledging the changes he, too, had noticed.

Jill's concern echoed with sincerity. "Yeah, I do hope it’s nothing worse," she expressed, her genuine worry etched on her face. "She's already been through the worst breakup of her life. I know she’

The Princess is in dangerHigh School The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Most students stayed behind for after-class activities such as projects, dances, or meeting with their partners. Others loitered around notable spots like the Prince Hyper Mart, a public park, or somewhere with fewer people around. The nature of their activities was a mystery to many. Wayne, however, was different. He was known as a loner, without any friends, and never took part in any after-class activities like the one underneath the sycamore tree behind Mr. Ramirez's room. He would leave the school immediately after class, which went unnoticed by most of his classmates. Despite his lack of charm and his average appearance, his mysterious and distant personality frequently caught the attention of girls, especially due to his attractive eyes. He erected unseen walls around himself, pushing people away from his life. He didn't want to reveal his past and feared things would only get worse if h

The prince came to save the day The young man gazed at the stream in front of him, his thoughts turning to despair. The burbling sound of the water would probably cover his cries, even if he tried to scream for help. The dense forest surrounding them would make it easy to hide a body. He shuddered at the thought, realizing this place was perfect for an execution, although it was not their intention. But when someone crossed a hot-headed woman like Anastasia, things could spiral out of control quickly. Anastasia stood in front of him, her hand stretched out. "Hand me the brass knuckles, Mr. Grayson," she ordered, her eyes blazing with anger. Pacia, the nervous-looking girl, hesitated to hand over the weapon. "B-but Ana... this is dangerous. We shouldn't do this," she stammered. Anastasia's frustration grew by the second. "What the hell, Pacia! Just give them to me!" she bellowed. Pacia's voice trembled as she tried to explain. "B-but... b-but..." Kyna, one of the girls behind them

How they save the princess. It was a warm afternoon at the high school, and the students were waiting for their teacher to arrive. Some were chatting, others were lost in their own thoughts. But two best friends, Jill and April, had their attention focused on one person in particular - the young man near the window who was staring at the blue sky as if he was the main character in an anime. Jill had a crush on the guy, and she would say that he was her first love. It was obvious from the way she acted around him - a short glance followed by a shy smile before returning to her conversation with April. "Do you think he's cute?" Jill asked her friend. "Definitely," April replied. "I know a few girls who have a crush on him, including Angela, Gina, and Sophie." Jill sighed, "That's a lot." "Yeah, but it's not surprising. He's smart, has good grades, and there's just something mysterious about him," April explained. "Wow, sounds like you like him," Jill teased. "No way, Jill," April

You have a secret "So, this is where you wanted to go?" Wayne asked, looking around the Milk Tea café where Jill had brought him. It was a popular spot for couples, with its green matcha-inspired décor and round tables and chairs. Despite his initial discomfort, he had agreed to come here. "I never go to places like this," he admitted, taking in the sights and sounds of people flirting around him. "Well, it's good for our first date," Jill said with a blissful smile on her face. "Who said this was a date?" Wayne raised an eyebrow in confusion. He had never been on a date before, and he didn't think this was one. "No one. Hehe," Jill giggled, her confidence masking the anxiety she felt inside. She tried to make eye contact with him, but he was preoccupied with his surroundings. "You really find this uncomfortable?" she asked. "Especially since this place is filled with couples," Wayne replied. "But we're a couple, so there's no problem, right?" Jill teased him with a wink. "What

BASTARD Wayne arrived home later than usual, his heart heavy from the memories of the girl who had saved him earlier in the day. Despite the joy that her smile had brought him, he hesitated before opening the door to his home. He knew what awaited him inside - the monster that was his mother. The sound of the creaking door echoed in his head as he stepped inside and saw her sitting in the chair, facing the entrance. Her furrowed brow and tense posture indicated her anger. "Where have you been?" she said, her voice full of rage. Before Wayne could even begin to explain, his mother raised her hand and delivered a sharp slap to his cheek. "You bastard!" she screamed. "Where have you been?" Wayne's father appeared, his expression blank, no sign of empathy on his face. He didn't say a word and simply stood there as Wayne's mother continued her barrage of insults and accusations. "Look at your son!" she yelled, pointing at Wayne. "He's been nothing but trouble lately! He got into a fight

It was her first time to be that happy. "Jill?" April waved her hand in front of Jill's trance-like state. "Earth to Jill? Are you there?" She tried to get her friend's attention, but there was no response. April was starting to get worried. She had never seen Jill like this before. She tried patting her head, clapping her hands, and even gave her a soft slap to try and bring her back to reality, but nothing seemed to work. The last time April had seen Jill smile like this was at the silent sanctuary concert they had attended. Although April wasn't sure what could have happened to bring Jill to this state, she had a hunch it was related to something that had occurred the day before. "Jill? Come on, snap out of it!" April tried again, using her best friend's full name. "Jillian Silvia Magdalo?" Finally, after several attempts of calling her name and waving her hands in front of her face, Jill came back to reality. "Yes? How long was I out?" she asked. "Long enough for me to get bor

Romance starts with friendship She ran as if it were the end of the world. She looked weary, but the smile didn't seem to match the picture. Joy smirked, "I have a hunch, but I'm not sure." April rolled her eyes and replied, "I bet you're right." Instead of heading to the school gates, Jill turned and headed northwest. The gates were the last place she wanted to be right now, with too many procedures and the need to bribe the guard with a pack of cigarettes. She wasn't a runner, but she sprinted like a cheetah, sneaking past the guidance counselor's office. Behind it was a wall with a hole in it, likely made by a student. It was an escape route used by students who wanted to skip class. Jill successfully made it through the small entrance. Suddenly, she bumped into someone. Fortunately, it was only a light impact and she didn't fall. The young girl, Ashley, offered to go first, "You should go first, sorry about that." "Oh, Ashley," Jill recognized her immediately. She didn't have t

He looks cute when he's being teased. It was a typical day and Jill felt exhausted. The two stood in front of a shopping mall, its green and yellow exterior advertising its brand name. The mall was quiet, as students in school uniform were not permitted to shop during school hours due to its close proximity to the school. "Hey, can you hold my bag for a second?" Wayne asked as he handed over his bag to Jill. She took the bag, though she was unsure why he had asked her to do so. "I’ll have to buy something," he added. "One more thing," Wayne said, looking a bit sheepish. "I was hoping I could check the size of your shirt." Jill's eyes widened in surprise as Wayne reached out to touch her collar. "What are you doing?" she asked, stepping back and pulling away from him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Wayne apologized, looking away in embarrassment. "I just want to buy you a t-shirt. You can't walk around in your school uniform," he explained, trying to make am

What lies ahead Exams had arrived, casting a blissful spell upon the air. Jill and Wayne found themselves seated together on the grass, their gaze fixed on the open field bustling with fellow high school students. Jill turned toward Wayne, her curiosity getting the better of her. "What do you want to do next? Are you still staying here?" Wayne nodded, a small smile gracing his lips. "Yeah." "That's good to hear. Another school year with you," Jill teased, a playful raise of her eyebrow adding to the moment. "Oh my God, now that you're looking at me like that, I'm beginning to regret my decision," Wayne replied, shaking his head. "Eeeh? Don't be like that," Jill continued to playfully banter. "But I guess school's kinda fun when you're around," he admitted, a warm smile of appreciation lighting up his face. "This semester was unexpectedly fun." "Never imagined the day I would be able to talk with you. I guess all it took was luring you using April, oops," she said, slipping up a

FORGIVENESS THAT HE THOUGHT HE COULDN’T GIVE There was still an hour left before he met his father, but Wayne wanted to leave already. The class was still ongoing as he waited. He was bothered with questions, he did say that he wanted to talk to him, which was something that rarely happens. He assumed that he already went back and heard the news, but what now? Will he call him to come home or disown him? He was troubled the whole time. The classroom was quiet, there wasn't much to do. The teacher writes the lesson on the board, while students copy it without question. Jill noticed the weary Wayne, she tapped on his shoulder to ask what’s wrong. “Are you okay? You seem troubled. Do you want to share your problem?” Asked Jill. The young man looked away, avoiding the answer to the question. But he knew Jill would keep buzzing about it, and so after 20 pokes on his cheeks he opened up. “My fathe

Grateful The midterm was just two days ahead. Students cramping to review to finish the project before the deadlines was a common sight to see. April was one of the tardy student who only does her school requirements few days before the given sate. Alongside with Hori and Joy, the two kept bugging Jill. It was 7 am in the morning. The number of students walking in the pathway keep growing. All had the same depressing eyes, exams weren’t a fan favorite in the school, except for smart ass students. But majority of the student in their school was bunch of students having no clue on what they wanted in the future. Joy sighed when she saw Aizen on the school grounds. She was avoiding him for weeks, and somehow hope that he would come visit her out of concern. Thus, she realized there’s no point of chasing him, the guy he likes clearly has no feelings for her. But deep inside Joy feelings remained solid, but not bright enough for her to confessed. The girl sulk and went back

I’ll love you until I can Jill reached the address that Anastasia sent. The girl wondered how she knew about it this place, and how come Wayne told the little girl before herself. It’s her first time A sense of jealousy spark inside her, she pouted before she approached the gates. There must be some reason why’s she’s here? The girl pondered. She had the gist that the two started living, and her reaction was flushed and slightly annoyed when she thought of it. “I better find it out myself.” She shook her head and opened the gates. Everything felt surreal, yesterday was a painful rejection but a light of hope when he said it was possible. That alone gave her hope to keep going, the two hasn’t started to confess yet, and thus she believed that she had a chance. He was probably tried to be nice, but that didn’t faze Jill. She loved him for a long time, and he couldn’t simply just back out. Unless he

She ignored the random blabbering of her teacher and sulked while thinking of him. April noticed her gloomy friend and decided to sneak beside her. She sat on Jill’s friends; her blank state best friend didn’t notice her until she tapped her shoulder. “Are you okay?” She concerningly asked. Jill stared at the window for a second, she thought about the days they used to hang out, the fun memories, and dates. The girl realized the ephemeral and couldn’t to pout because of it. Everything can turn upside down, life is short, and consistently moving. She sighed and ignored April’s words. Agitated, the impatience friend wanted to smack her in the head. But realize the love sick she had, she already had a glim

He didn’t look back, his memories from his home were nothing but fear, pain and suffering. The young man partially limps as he felt the pain from the beating that he got. It swollen badly, but he kept walking away. He finally got a place to rest when he reached the closest terminal. The young man waited for a ride. He sat on empty bench with flickering lights above. He sighed and laid his body. It was nothing but peaceful, he thought about freedom. The young man sees himself like a bird who escape the cage of abuse. “Sir are you heading somewhere?” It took a while before a tricycle arrived. “Yes, take me to my sanctuary.” Wayne picked up his belonging and told the driver his address. The girl looked at Jill who laid in her shoulder, she took a nap and remind her best friend to wake her up once they reach their house. She didn’t except her response, but Jill heard it clearly. The girl opened her eyes and respond. “That’s kinda dumb April. You just said it yourself, and don’t even try to deny.” April looked down; she avoided looking at her friends’ eyes. She wondered what would happen if she and Wayne started dating. Wayne as a boyfriend, I guess I would be a fool if I said no. He played an important role on my break. He would probably be good lover. She reflected back to their kiss, his soft lips, the expected reaction he had. April bit her lips and giggled. “Maybe it wouldn’t be that bad.” “What?” But she soon regrets
