Chapter 4

Chase’s POV

"No, it's not. This isn't true at all." Grace shook her head quickly with a tensed body.

Then Grace looked at me with a worried look in her eyes. She still looked shocked and seemed confused.

It wasn't entirely Grace's fault that she didn't know me very well. I had barely met Jhon after he got married one year ago. And I met Grace only once on their wedding day, which didn't leave any impression. After that, I kept myself busy with a lot of work.

Obviously, I was still a stranger to her. Then we met again unexpectedly and, of course, with her drunk.

"What's not right, Grace?" I asked her, who still looked confused.

Her pair of tiny eyes glanced sharply at me. "Don't you realise that what happened to us was a mistake? You... are the uncle of Jhon, my husband. Do you still think this isn't a mistake?"

Grace's voice sounded desperate. She shook her head and covered her face with both hands as if she couldn't believe all this was happening to us. She looked very frustrated, and I was eager to tease her.

"Pull yourself together, Grace." I tried to make her feel a little better.

Hearing my words, she suddenly removed her hands from her face and looked at me.

"Calm down?" Her voice choked up. “I can't be like you, who thinks all this is fine. You're Jhon's uncle. How can I be as calm as you say?" Grace opened her hands as if asking me to understand her.

Grace shook her head quickly and hissed at me. "You're crazy."

Her eyes looked bolder than the last time we met. She moved hurriedly with the blanket wrapped around her body, and I was sure it would harm her. And I was right. She fell to the floor, stepping on the blanket.

"Grace, are you okay?" I saw her fall and moved to help her. She really worried me.

Grace raised one hand, asking me not to do anything to her. I could see that her face was red from the sudden fall.

"Stay there, and don't try to come near me." He still raised his hand to warn me.

I complied by raising both my hands in surrender. I didn't want to provoke her anger again. This woman wouldn't listen to me. Then Grace fixed her blanket and quickly ran into the bathroom.

I exhaled harshly as I stood and stepped towards the tightly closed bathroom door. I won't bother her. I think she needs to calm herself down from the chaos right now.

I'm already dressed and starting to understand the situation. I picked up Grace's red dress lying on the floor. I didn't know the couple well, but I knew Grace loved Jhon very much. I could see it in the gentle way she treated my nephew. But now it seemed like something had happened between them, making their marriage unbalanced.

"What exactly happened to their marriage?”

Without thinking, I immediately grabbed my cell phone and called someone to find out what happened to Jhon's marriage.

When my phone call was connected, I immediately spoke. "Find out what happened to my nephew and his wife's wedding."

I frowned at the person's information.

"Jhon didn't come home and chose to spend time with another woman, his wife's half-sister."

The phone call was disconnected. It all made sense now, so Grace's marriage to Jhon was in trouble. That's why Grace was at the bar alone last night in a slightly inviting outfit.

I thought back to my encounter with Grace at the bar. I became very upset once I realised that Grace was looking for an escape to deal with the problems in her marriage. Maybe if I hadn't been at the bar and hadn't met Grace, she would have ended up with another man.

"Asshole." Just thinking about it pissed me off. How could that woman have done that?

I let out a long breath as I considered the next step in this relationship. I couldn't just let Grace go after our night together. If Jhon wasted his wife, I would have her.

I didn't find Grace in the room. I immediately looked for her in the bathroom and didn't find her there either. Finally, I heard a sound from the main door and rushed towards it. Sure enough, when I arrived at the main door, Grace tried to open the door that I had deliberately locked.

"Do you intend to run away, Grace?" I held the key in my hand to tease her. "You need this to open that door."

Suddenly, she turned to me with a panicked and frightened expression.

I stepped closer to her. I could see that her body was tense. It was obvious that she was scared. Grace is currently wearing my grey gym clothes. Of course, she wasn't wearing her dress anymore because the red dress had been torn apart by the hot night we had.

I looked at her with cold, sharp eyes. Grace pressed closer to the door, frowning in fear.

"Let me go." She opened a squeaky voice.

"Why do you want to return to a house that no longer gives you warmth?" I smiled a little meaningfully as I said that.

Grace's eyes seemed to round at the words I said. Then she shook her head so fast that her long, golden-brown hair wobbled.

"You don't know anything about my marriage to Jhon." Her voice was a little firmer when she said that.

"Is that so? Then, what are you doing in a bar by yourself in clothes that invite men to fuck you?" This time, I gave her a cold and piercing look.

Grace's body seemed to weaken. She looked at me with her beautiful pair of eyes. "Please, don't say anything. Pretend that nothing happened between us. And, about what happened last night, just pretend nothing happened."

"You want me to keep this a secret, Grace?" I asked in a tone of voice that sounded casual.

Grace nodded quickly. "Yes, I'm begging you. I want this to be our secret. I don't want any gossip to spread and cause an embarrassing scandal. Please." Her eyes had a pitiable expression. She was really begging now.

I sympathised with her a little but didn't want to make things easy for her. I think it's going to be more challenging. Grace must realise what she has done.

I shake my head lightly, and in

stantly, her face returns to panic.

"No, Grace. I can't do what you're asking.”
