His hand in mine, my waist caught gently in his grip as he easily held me up like I weighed nothing. The scowl I’d associated with him wasn’t present today, instead, there was a complicated look in his eyes, like words he wanted to say were unable to form.

Alexander frowned as he caught me from falling, steadying me back on my feet and my hands landed on his chest as we stood still in the middle of the luxurious ballroom.

Would we be this close when dancing at the welcoming party? Would his hands feel so large and warm in mine? Would he hold me as closely as he was now, like I was something precious and delicate?
