Chapter 22 : Ending and New Beginning

There was no point in looking back and taking back all the words that I had said moments ago. I was done. I didn’t see the reason to tell them that I was just joking around by calling off the engagement. I wanted them to know that I had made up my mind. If their son didn’t want me, then I would not push too hard for him to like me.

I had been disrespected almost all my life, it was time for me to stand up for myself and to stand with what I believed in. I believed that I was capable of doing whatever I wanted to do without needing anyone’s approval. I believed that I had the qualities to be worthy of love and respect. I believed that behind my clumsiness, I had an authenticity that others lacked.

If they didn’t like the real me, then they didn’t deserve the best version of me. It was time for me to turn the tables, and that would start by leaving this hell of a place where my presence was never welcomed anyway.
