Chapter 6

Aubrey's Point Of View

"Found you." 

My world seems to stop. The woman that I thought I would never see again is here, looking at me with a smile on her lips. 

"You know Ms. Elisa, mommy?" 

"Oh my god! Don't tell me, she's the girl you're looking for?" Rose blurted out

Looking for? Elisa is looking for me? 

"Yes. I'm looking for you." Elisa stood up and made her way to me 

I frowned "Did I say my thoughts out loud?" 

Elisa slightly laughed "You, did." 

"What are you doing here? Why are you with them? How did you find my house?"

"Can I get a hug first?" Elisa spread her arms

I stepped forward to her and she engulfed me and Gab in a warm embrace. 

"Yey! I have a new mommy!" Gab celebrated

I blushed and removed myself and Gab from Elisa's hug.

"Uh.. can you answer all my questions now?" I awkwardly said 

"Maybe it's better if you join us here first then Elisa will tell you all the answers." Mom advised before Elisa can say anything

Elisa told me everything happened. How she's planning to look for me, how she met my family, it turns out that she's the cousin of my sister-in-law. Destiny? We'll never know, man. 

"Can I call Ms. Elisa as mommy now?" Gab asked 

I mentally face palmed because of this smart kid next to me. Good thing Elisa left hours ago to fix the house she'll be staying in. 

"She's not my girlfriend, Gab." I explained "You can't call her your mommy." 

"Little Gab, just wait for Ms. Elisa to court your mommy okay?" Emma winked at my child

I can't focus on the movie we are watching because of these people. 

Aish. They are giving my baby a false hope. Elisa and I will never be together. 

And why is that? You and Elisa both knew that you had something in Los Angeles. My brain said

I dismissed that thought. 

"Don't give my child a false hope." I seriously said 

"We're not giving her any false hope! Why do you think Elisa looked for you? What do you think is the possible answer for that?" Rose added

I groaned and stood up "Come on, Gab. Take a quick shower then go to sleep." 

Gab didn't stir. She's looking at me with pleading eyes "Mommy.." 

"We'll talk in your room, okay?" I smiled at her 

She nodded and stood up from the couch. She kissed each of the family member's cheeks before we went to her room.

"Mommy.." 

"Sometimes, I'm scolding myself for raising you as a smart kid. I'm always having trouble finding answers to your questions." I said and sat next to her on the bed

"Is that a bad thing mommy?" She almost whispered 

"No, baby Gab. I was just kidding, you're just giving mommy a little little problem with your smartness." 

Gab giggled "Maybe my real mom was as smart as me." 

"Maybe? We'll never know. Would you want to know her?" I asked

Though I'm afraid that she'll look for her real mother, I need to know how she's feeling about that matter. 

"No, mommy. You're my mommy now and no one can replace you but.." 

"But what, Gab?" 

"But I can have another mommy, right?" She smiled brightly at me 

I shook my head slowly "I knew it." I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and made her head lean against my chest "Why are you pushing me to have a girlfriend, Gab? I mean.. I can have another boyfriend, right?" 

"The last time you had a boyfriend, things didn't end well, right mommy? I know that Ms. Elisa likes you. She flew here just to find you, if I am Ms. Elisa, I won't do that unless that person is very important to me. When Ms. Elisa hugged us, I felt like we are a real family. I want to feel that again, mommy, and I want to see the twinkle in your eyes when you see Ms. Elisa." 

Wow. I can't believe I'm talking to a five year old kid right now, I feel like I'm talking to an adult. 

Whoever Gab's real mother is, screw you because you lost a smart and lovable kid. 

"Things are not that easy, Gab. We cannot just be girlfriends. There are some things that we still need to know about each other. Let's say that Ms. Elisa likes me but it doesn't mean that we are meant to be together." 

"It does, mommy! Because you like Ms. Elisa also. I saw it! I saw the spark in your eyes when you saw her, you cannot deny that."

Why can't I even win an argument with this kiddo? 

"Mommy is tired, Gab." I faked a yawn "Good night, baby. I love you." I kissed her forehead

"You are really more beautiful up close, Aubrey Jackson." 

Who is that? 

I slowly opened my eyes and only to be greeted with doe eyes staring at me. 

"Good morning!" She smiled at me while crouching next to my bed, face so close to mine 

But you are more beautiful up close, Elisa. Your beauty always locks me up in a trance and I can't tell if I want to get out from it. Your doe eyes, that prominent nose, and those luscious lips. 

"Do I have dirt on my face?" Elisa suddenly asked, waking me up again from her trance 

"What are you doing here?" I sat up for her not to see my blushing cheeks

Elisa smiled at me as she stood up properly "I'll tell you later. Get up and change your clothes." She then walked out from my room

The hell? 

I lazily dragged myself out from the warmth of my bed and took a bath.

"Can you tell me now?" I stood in front of Elisa who is sitting on our couch

"Let's wait for Gab." She stood up

Before I can say anything, Elisa looks in the direction of Gab's room.

Gab walked out from her room, her sleepy eyes suddenly turned alive when she saw Elisa.

"Ms. Elisa! You're here!" She run to Elisa with a big smile on her lips 

Elisa picked her up "Yup. Do you mind if I'll take your mommy out for a date?" 

She'll what? Take me out? On a date?! D.A.T.E?! 

"What?" I blurted out

"Can I come too? Please?" Gab wrapped her arms around Elisa's neck

Elisa giggled at my kid's cuteness "Of course." 

"You heard that, mom? We'll have a family date!" Gab looked at me 

"You asked for my kid's permission and what about mine?" I placed my hand on my waist and said, "How sure are you that I am going with you?" 

"Because Gab said yes. Will you allow me to go out Gab alone?" She smirked "Come on, it will be fun."

"Do I have a choice?" I sighed "Let's go Gab. Take a shower first."
