Tesla's Pov

I tugged away the bright-looking wedding crown that had suddenly become a pile of heavy rocks on my head.

Staring at the mirror that was right before me, my breath was getting heavy and from the reflection, I easily noticed my bridal dress everywhere. My anxiety increased by every tick-tock of the clock as I counted.

"Luna Tesla, do you think that the Alpha accidentally slept off and that's the reason that he could not even come for his wedding?" My best friend immediately came through the door as though the anxiety that I felt wasn't enough already.

Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. The day that I was supposed to be joined with Alpha Henry after three straight years of being his Luna and mate only in name.

Three hours was how long it had been since told me that his best man, the Beta, was almost ready and he was going to join us at the venue of the event, prompting me to leave the pack house first.

"I'm sure that he just has some pack emergency that needs to be sorted oh!" I replied, looking trying to maintain a composed outlook, while on the inside, I was more like a leaf at the edge of a cliff, my hands gripping my dress as evidence of that.

Tina, my best friend, frowned hearing my words of defense for the Alpha. I didn't blame her, she never liked the Alpha right from the very beginning because of our long history together.

Knowing Alpha Damon right from a very Young age was no small feat. And it was only made possible due to the relationship that our families shared..

He was handsome and the crush of some many girls. And more importantly, he was my first and only crush. How would I have gotten the opportunity to look at anyone else when I dropped in on him whenever he visited and stared at the fractures of his image that I had formed in my head when he was not around.

I tried to build a relationship with him. Baking him the best cookies from the freshest ingredients and making sure that I was the closest to him. When I graduated high school, I offered to continue my medical training in his pack instead of that of my parents and more fortunately for me, I was his family's personal doctor.

However, my heart was shattered that night. The night that the moon goddess broke my world and Alpha the heart of my love to someone else as a mate.

She was perfect and beautiful, radiating with all the beauty anyone could think of. I remember, sure, because I was jealous and I couldn't hide it.

My jealousy threw me into tears for days, picturing the Alpha in the hands that weren't mine.

Three days was how long I stayed without food and water when I heard that he was eventually getting married. Indeed, I was doomed.

I was there that day to see my love for the first time, he was shattered to the core. That was the first time that I had seen his cruelly handsome face so ridden. His eyes were so red that I was sure he had torn out for days.

However, when I went to console him, I found out that he was my second-chance mate. Hence the beginning of my story. His pack was falling apart after the death of his father and to take his rightful position, he needed a Luna, and there I was ever ready to fall into his hands, sprinkled with a little push from our grandparents, it was just the most imperfect union.

"That man never loved you! And you didn't see any dark clouds in this silver linen when he suddenly wanted you guys married?" Tina's eyes flinched.

How many times had she daggered me with those words since a week ago when the Alpha told me that he wanted us to eventually get married?

Yep. I knew that he had always been cold. He married me because of the late Alpha, he didn't have any other choice to save the legacy of his father, the pack from totally disintegrating from the lack of a leader.

The constant reminder that he had only gotten me because he didn't have a choice were daggers drawn right through my heart. No matter how many times I have heard those words, it still stings.

However, I wasn't ready to leave him. The fact that the moon goddess had blessed me with him as my mate was a sign itself that we were made for each other.

And I swore that I was going to make this my life mission. As the Luna of the pack, I worked twice as hard as everyone else, even the Alpha. And for a pack that was once at the bottom list of the world economy, it was now at the top list.

"He has changed Tina! I can assure you that!" I begin my already failed attempt to make her see reasons with me.

The words made my face bright red with a smile as I remembered the day that he proposed wanting to take me officially as his wife after three years of hard labor.

Over the years, his cold demeanor and the constant brooding over his lost mate died off and he has eventually become warm to me, taking note of the contributions that I was making for the pack with compliments. Not as much as he would be to his first mate but at the least, we now respond to my greetings each morning.

And on the day that he proposed wanting to make me his wife officially and the Luna of the pack, I earned his first kiss.

Even though I was the one that made the first advance after staring at the perfectly cut out lips of his.

It took me so much courage, and for a while, my heart froze until.. he kissed me back.

My world almost stopped revolving. My ears block every sound and I enjoy the moment that I have waited for three long years.

The pleasure of his warmth from that night was what made me calm amid this massive tornado. Assured that after such a wonderful night, there was no way that he was ditching me on our wedding night.

"Just three hours late into your wedding is certainly a sign of a changed man." She replied.

A deep sigh rushed to my mouth. After a long moment of waiting, I could not stand the torment of anyone. I just had to go see what was wrong with my groom. When I came outside, everyone was worried. I could not stop my heart's racing. All my excuses had turned into the Sahara desert and my body had ripples from my worries.

I could not stand it anymore, what if something had happened to the Alpha, I had to find out myself as soon as possible.

"I need to see the Alpha!" I said to Tina without even sparing her a glance. Racing through the reception hall, it was already empty, everyone had grown tired of waiting.

"The pack house!" My words rushed at the driver for our already decorated wedding car.

I forced myself into the car barely able to breathe with this flowing, choking dress and the journey began. With every pacing block, I seemed to have forgotten how to breathe, a large lump stuck in my throat.

"Luna! We are here already!" The sound from the driver jerked me out of my daze.

"Oh! Thank you!" I replied with an uneasy tone.

Immediately I stepped out of the car, I barely noticed that the pack house was still in full section.

The only thing that I could feel was the stare boring right into my chest from behind. Some looked at me with pity, while others who had always hated me shot daggers of disgust at me.

I could barely take notes of their resentment, finding my way into the pack house, and the Beta, casually dressed. My eyes twitched together with my eyes since he was supposed to be the best man for the Alpha. The blood throughout my body is running piping hot.

"Tell me the Alpha is okay! Is he alright?" My eyes flashed with fear when I got to him. That was the only reason that I could think of that the Alpha couldn't come.

The look on his face was cold. One that was embroidered with resentment and irritation.

"The only thing that you should know now is that the Alpha is fine! He will call you when he needs your attention!" The Beta replied.

I was confused. Why was everyone acting so strange? Was he lying to me? So that I would not be worried? What was he taking me for, a joke?

"Tell me where the Alpha is right now! I have to see the Alpha right this moment!" My words raced impatiently.

"Which part of the Alpha is fine but is difficult for you to comprehend? Isn't it this same brain that you used to come up with such a perfect plan?" He inquired with a slight sense of mockery.

Was he talking about the fine work that I had done in the pack? I had missed the mockery in his tone.

But then, if it was any other day, I sure had every right to get him punished for speaking to his Luna in such a manner.

That was until I heard a slight noise from the Alpha's office. How could I ever miss that, it was the Alpha's tablet, I prepared that for him each day.

It could only mean that as odd as it was he was in his office. The Beta noticed the looks that had flashed in my eyes and tried to stop me.

"You can't go in there! Respect the Alpha's decision for once!" His hands were spread out like wings.

However, I pushed him forcefully away from the door with everything that I had in my and walked right into the office.

"You are here already!" That face that I fell for. The perfectly chiseled face and the pink lips seemed to make all my worries collapse.

'He. He was fine!' I was a little bit taken aback my blood running slow and suddenly cold. Body soul flooded with mixed emotions that were at their peak.

Immediately he looked up and our eyes crossed paths, the smile that had once hung over his face suddenly strapped off.

Replaced by his cold handsome look from years before.

"It's you?"

"You are here!" He rephrased his tone, obvious that the first sweet and lovely tune was never meant for me.

The cold forest air wrapped around me as I sat beneath the ancient oak tree, my knees drawn to my chest. The moonlight filtered through the branches, bathing everything in a silvery glow. It was quiet here, far from the packhouse. For years, I had convinced myself that Henry’s coldness was temporary, a defense mechanism he’d built around his heart. I had worked tirelessly to break through it, believing that one day, he’d look at me the way I’d always dreamed. But now, I knew the truth. I was never more than a stand-in, a placeholder until she returned. My hand drifted to my stomach. This is what matters now, I told myself. My child. A tear slipped down my cheek as I whispered a prayer to the moon goddess. “Please, give me strength. Help me protect my child”Back at the packhouse, the atmosphere was suffocating. The whispers followed me like shadows.“Did you hear? Henry never even showed up to the wedding,” someone sneered as I walked past.“I can’t believe she thought sh

Outside, the world looked peaceful, but I knew it was only a facade.Tina entered, her face pale. “Tesla,” she whispered, shutting the door quickly behind her. “He knows. Henry’s ordered for you to be stopped.”I froze, my chest tightening. “What?”“He’s sent warriors to patrol the borders. He doesn’t want you to leave.” Her voice cracked as she spoke, anger flashing in her eyes.I set my bag down, my mind racing. “Why? He doesn’t care about me. He made that clear.”Tina hesitated, then said, “He doesn’t care about you, Tesla. But he cares about the child.”Her words hit me like a blow to the stomach. I sank into the nearest chair, my hands shaking. “No. No, he doesn’t get to decide now, not after everything.”“We need to move fast,” Tina said, urgency creeping into her tone. “There’s stil

The old man’s smirk widened at Kael’s accusation. His sharp, calculating eyes gleamed in the dim firelight, reflecting the carnage around them. His hands, still clasped behind his back, twitched slightly—just enough for Kael to notice. Tesla’s trembling grew more violent. “You…” Kael’s voice was low, almost a whisper, but filled with restrained fury. “You did this to her.” The old man inclined his head, as if entertained by Kael’s discovery. “Indeed.” Kael clenched his fists. His body ached from the battle, but rage burned through him stronger than pain. “You turned her into… *this*.” A slow, amused chuckle rumbled from the old man’s throat. “Turned her?” He shook his head. “No, no, boy. I simply *unleashed* what was already there.” Tesla snarled, her body still locked in place, trembling, fighting something unseen. Her silver eyes flickered between recognition and complete void—between her and the monster clawing for control inside her. Henry gritted his teeth. “We’re s

The battlefield was still. Only the crackling of burning trees and the heavy breaths of wounded wolves filled the night. Scar, now in his monstrous wolf form, towered over Tesla, his golden eyes gleaming with malice. He took slow, deliberate steps toward her, his massive paws sinking into the bloodstained ground. Kael and Henry stood at a distance, watching tensely, their bodies aching from battle. “This isn’t good,” Kael muttered. Henry growled lowly. “She’s strong… but Scar is something else.” Tesla’s white wolf didn’t move. Her silver eyes burned with something primal, something ancient. She stood firm, shoulders squared, her fur bristling as the wind swept through the clearing. Scar bared his fangs. “You think because you unlocked some hidden power, you can stand against me?” His voice was deep, laced with arrogance. “I am your end, little wolf.” Tesla didn’t respond. She lunged. The force of her attack sent shockwaves through the ground. She was fast—unnaturally

The air grew tense. The moment Henry and Kael heard the snapping of branches behind them, they knew—Scar had caught up. A low, guttural growl rumbled through the darkness. Kael barely had time to shift before something massive slammed into him, knocking him sideways. Henry roared, his body already shifting mid-motion. Bones snapped, muscles expanded, fur sprouted along his skin. By the time he landed on all fours, his white fur gleamed under the moonlight. Scar’s men came like a storm, their snarls ripping through the night. Shadows moved fast, fangs flashing, claws striking. Kael barely had time to dodge the first attack before another wolf lunged. He twisted, kicking off a tree trunk, launching himself into his enemy with deadly force. His jaw clamped down on the wolf’s shoulder, his claws raking down its side. A yelp. A thud. But there was no time to breathe. Another came at him—then another. Henry was already deep in battle, his powerful form tearing through en

The night stretched long and cold, the air thick with the scent of blood and damp earth. The battle had ended, but the war was far from over. Scar emerged from the shadows, his towering frame moving with deadly grace. His fur, a deep shade of charcoal, gleamed under the moonlight. Scars littered his body, marks of past battles, proof of his dominance. His golden eyes flickered with something unreadable as he stopped in front of the crumpled figure on the ground. Aldric. He was barely conscious, his breaths ragged, his body sprawled in the dirt, the wooden shard still embedded in his ribs. Blood pooled beneath him, dark and thick. He had lost. Scar tilted his head, a slow, measured movement. Then, without a word, he crouched down, gripping Aldric’s throat with one clawed hand. “Where are the others?” His voice was low, dangerous. Aldric’s lips curled into a weak snarl. He was in no condition to fight, no strength left to even lift his head. But he still had his pride. Sca

The wolves lunged. A blur of furs clashed under the moonlight, fangs bared, claws tearing at the earth as they collided with bone-crushing force. A snarl ripped through the air. Henry struck first, fast and brutal, his jaws snapping dangerously close to Aldric’s throat. But Aldric was faster. He twisted at the last second, his massive paws striking Henry’s side, sending him skidding across the dirt. Lina let out a small cry behind me, but I didn’t turn. I couldn’t. My eyes were locked on the battle unfolding before us. Henry recovered in seconds, his white fur now streaked with dirt and blood, but he didn’t hesitate. He launched himself at Aldric again, jaws snapping— Aldric dodged, but Henry was relentless. He struck again. And again. Each attack more brutal than the last, his fangs sinking into Aldric’s shoulder— Aldric snarled in pain, but it didn’t slow him down. If anything, it only made him angrier. I thrashed, my fingers clawing at the grip, but Aldric’s hold was ironclad. "Shh," he whispered against my ear, his breath cool, his voice eerily calm. "You don’t want to wake them just yet." The old man lay still. Unmoving. For a moment, my chest seized with fear, but then I saw it—his shallow, uneven breaths. He wasn’t dead. Not yet. Aldric must’ve realized he didn’t finish the job because his grip on me tightened, his frustration seeping through. I bit down. Hard. He let out a sharp curse, his hand jerking away just enough for me to suck in a deep breath— But I didn’t get the chance to scream. Because before I could, he yanked me backward, dragging me toward the barn doors with inhuman strength. I kicked, elbowed, fought— But he was faster. Stronger. The forest had a way of making you feel small. The towering trees, the endless darkness stretching beyond where the eye could see—it swallowed you whole, made you feel like you were nothing but a fleeting presence in a world that had existed long before you and would continue to exist long after. I sat with my back against the rough bark of a tree, Lina curled up beside me, her breathing deep and even as sleep finally claimed her. I wished I could rest as easily. But exhaustion was a weight on my shoulders, pressing down, dragging me toward unconsciousness, yet my mind refused to let go. I wasn’t the only one. Kael sat a few feet away, sharpening a blade absentmindedly, his eyes trained on the trees, as if daring something to step out. Henry was on the other side of the clearing, lying down but not quite asleep, his arm resting over his eyes, lost in thought. Aldric sat against another tree, silent, unmoving. I watched them go, my breath still uneven, my muscles aching from the fight. But there was no time to dwell on it.
