The hurt was written all over her face, I could feel a twitch in my heart. Over these past few years, after lamenting over the abandonment of my mate, I was beginning to fall for this hard-working woman. I never thought that I would be the cause of her being so hurt. But after what she had done to me, how could I ever feel pity for her? She was so evil. Enough to have forced such a perfect and dubious plan to chase my mate far away from me. If there was anything, I was being Lenient with her. Another glass of alcohol went down my throat. Then why did I for some reason feel so empty? After seeing my mate, I thought that everything that I felt for her was going to disappear and I was going to be reunited with that one true person that I loved but instead, it seemed like I had lost touch with her. No longer worshiping her feet like I would do three years back. I took another sipping feeling that I was going crazy when suddenly, I heard a loud cry from afar, the cry sinking deep into my ears. How could I miss that sound? It was that of my mate. Previously, I would have started running over like a mad dog towards her. But this time, I met with a pause and acted rationally. Not getting up until I heard the sound once again. I picked up from the floor finally, walking off towards them. Tesla was standing right before my mate, fuming and yelling words that I could barely understand. While for Katherine, she was bleeding. Deep nails scratched all over her body. It was more like she had been attacked by a mad person. "What's happening here? Why are you so badly injured, Katherine." My senses peaked as I quickly rushed over to her. Tears in abundance flowed out from her eyes as she stared right into my eyes. She had always been a strong lady from when I knew her. That was one of the qualities that I loved about her. If she was crying, it would only mean that something terrible had been done to her and as the person that I was, I had to treat it with intentions.. Her eyes pointed right towards her with more tears flowing from her eyes. "Tesla." Her breath was heavy. "She tried to kill me, Leo! She tried to kill me!" She yelled out. After which, she raised her shirt and I saw something that made me take my steps, revealing a stream of blood beside her that I had not gotten sight of initially. The deep wound made my heart surge as she continued with what she was saying before I interrupted. "There was no one in the pack. I was trying to assure her that there was no need for her to be worried. I wanted to thank her for what she did for you and the pack but never in my wildest dream did I think that she had a silver knife on her and was going to attack me with it She said she wanted Henry dead since she wasn't able to do it years ago, she was going to do it now!" She said her breathing was seemingly like a large rock had been placed on it I could not believe my eyes and ears. But the brutal sight that lay right before me was screaming out something different. My stare made its way toward Tesla, everything that I had felt towards her initially, all my emotions that seemed to be heightening suddenly melted down to raw anger. From the obvious anger that was written all over my face, she stepped backward, trying to speak. From that moment, I wanted her dead and nothing more. Only then would my mate be safe. "I didn't do it, Henry. Believe me, we were married for three years, you know what I can do and what I can't right?" She said, still falling back in her steps as I made my way gradually towards her. However, her words brushed past my ears. I let out a slight chuckle, infused with my anger, my breath was heavy and my head was likened to a steam engine. "And you think that I am going to believe you, isn't it? After what you have done already?" I blotted out. Before she could get to say another word. My hands gripped her right around her neck, ready to send her directly back to the moon goddess. I raised her to the wall, my eyes filled with murderous intent while she choked. But I was too angry even to notice. After a while, I dropped her. "Cough, Cough!" She kept coughing for a while, her eyes red. "Why are you doing this to me!" She said in between those dry coughs. "I can't believe you Tesla." She blotted out with a slight pain. Tesla's heart was plummeting rapidly, I could hear it with my rapid ears. Her eyes were rolling and her feet were wobbly like she was going to faint. I chuckled, my anger lessening a little bit. "Are those one of your tricks? Because you have to be a fool to think that I am going to fall for it." I shot a deadly glare at her, hoping that it was going to stop that evil and poor acting of hers but it didn't. She continued to drop slowly until she was totally on the floor. Looking like someone who had passed out. Or she did. But should I even care in the first place At this point, I heard a loud yell from Katherine at the same time. I think that I am losing too much blood. I looked at an almost lifeless Tesla before returning my gaze to Katherine. Why should I cry about a liar and a deceiver? If she died, it was going to be a win-win for both of us. I shot down the last part that cared for her before I eventually hurried off to Katherine and took her off to the hospital in my hands. It had been into two hours of me pacing at the door of Katherine's ward without taking a blink off from her door. Eventually, it was time for me to see her. Her eyes were baggy but she was still cute. She held my hands firmly and said. "For three years, I have been haunted by the fact that I wasn't with you! That I shrunk instead of fighting back!" Her words were piercing her eyes so passionately, reaching out right through my heart as she continued. "I don't want anything like that to happen again. I want to be with you forever. That's why I will have to say this!" She paused, forcing herself to push something out from the drawer. Before I could even help, she had gotten it out herself. It was pointed right on my face at the moment. It was the voice recording of the interaction that she had with Tesla a few moments ago. It was perfect. How could I ever miss her voice? What exactly she said was what happened and again, she had lied. It was like my heart was squeezed. My face melted with anger that even my clenched knuckles already cracking could not prevent it. My face blushed hot red. She lied, yet again. "You see My Henry. I don't hate her but I won't want anything to stand in the way that the moon goddess wants for us to bring us together. That's why I want to ask you this! I want her gone from the pack!" She said with a pleading face. And with all the hatred in my hate directed towards Tesla, she didn't even have to ask at all.Tesla's PovMy consciousness gradually slipped back to me. Every single bone and cell in my body screamed with the pain that welled up through my blood. The last thing that I remember was passing out in the office of Alpha Henry. With my eyes still closed, it was like I was staring into my soul with those cold eyes when he grabbed me and raised me on the wall. There was not a second hint of affection in his eyes. This was the same person that I had done everything to please in the past when the so-called love of his life was nowhere to be found. However, I knew that I had been subjected to much more than this in terms of hard labor. It wasn't enough to make me black out like I did over there. It just strengthened the fact that I had been feeling really weak over the time of preparing for the wedding. But I could not tell anyone so that I was not going to get them worried, not even Tina."Maybe it was just due to the emotional stress that I had been forced to go through." I reminded my
The doctor’s words rang in my ears long after he left. Pregnant. I stared at the ceiling, my mind spinning. A baby. My baby. For a moment, I felt my heart pound. Before reality crashed down. What was I supposed to do now?A knock on the door startled me. Tina walked in, her eyes scanning my face. “What did the doctor say?” she asked softly, her concern clear.“It’s nothing serious,” I lied, forcing a weak smile. I wasn’t ready to tell her yet—not now, not when I was still trying to process it myself.Tina frowned, clearly unconvinced, but she didn’t push. “Tesla, you’ve got to take care of yourself,” she said firmly, pulling a chair closer. “You’ve already given too much to that bastard. You need to start thinking about you.”I nodded, but my thoughts were elsewhere. It wasn’t just about me anymore. I’m not alone now.Back in my room, I stared at my reflection, placing a hand on my stomach use. A part of me wanted to believe this baby could be the start of something better, but the ot
The cold forest air wrapped around me as I sat beneath the ancient oak tree, my knees drawn to my chest. The moonlight filtered through the branches, bathing everything in a silvery glow. It was quiet here, far from the packhouse. For years, I had convinced myself that Henry’s coldness was temporary, a defense mechanism he’d built around his heart. I had worked tirelessly to break through it, believing that one day, he’d look at me the way I’d always dreamed. But now, I knew the truth. I was never more than a stand-in, a placeholder until she returned. My hand drifted to my stomach. This is what matters now, I told myself. My child. A tear slipped down my cheek as I whispered a prayer to the moon goddess. “Please, give me strength. Help me protect my child”Back at the packhouse, the atmosphere was suffocating. The whispers followed me like shadows.“Did you hear? Henry never even showed up to the wedding,” someone sneered as I walked past.“I can’t believe she thought sh
The packhouse was quiet that evening, the kind of silence that crawled under your skin. I stood near the window in the small room Tina had helped me hide in, clutching the straps of my bag tightly. Outside, the world looked peaceful, but I knew it was only a facade.Tina entered, her face pale. “Tesla,” she whispered, shutting the door quickly behind her. “He knows. Henry’s ordered for you to be stopped.”I froze, my chest tightening. “What?”“He’s sent warriors to patrol the borders. He doesn’t want you to leave.” Her voice cracked as she spoke, anger flashing in her eyes.I set my bag down, my mind racing. “Why? He doesn’t care about me. He made that clear.”Tina hesitated, then said, “He doesn’t care about you, Tesla. But he cares about the child.”Her words hit me like a blow to the stomach. I sank into the nearest chair, my hands shaking. “No. No, he doesn’t get to decide now, not after everything.”“We need to move fast,” Tina said, urgency creeping into her tone. “There’s stil
Alpha Henry’s POVI paced back and forth in the grand hall, my boots echoing against the marble floors. Every step felt heavier with the weight of my thoughts.“Tesla’s pregnant,” I muttered under my breath, the words tasting bitter. With my child. The realization churned in my stomach. I didn’t even want her—never did. And yet, here we are. She tried to run, but she should’ve known better.“She really thought she could escape,” I said aloud, scoffing. “As if I wouldn’t find out.”The doctor had been quick to inform me, thank the Moon Goddess. Otherwise, Tesla would’ve disappeared into thin air by now, and with her, my heir. No one escapes me—not when it comes to my bloodline.I stopped pacing and looked out the massive windows, the moonlight spilling into the room. Keeping Tesla locked up was easy. That wasn’t the problem. The real challenge was Katherine.Katherine.I dragged a hand down my face. My mate. My Luna. My everything. She trusted me, believed in me. I had promised her—swo
Tesla’s POVThe morning light streamed through the small window, its pale rays illuminating the sparsely furnished room. My eyes fluttered open, and a familiar sense of dread washed over me. The room… it looked so familiar. Where was I?I pushed myself up, my head still foggy from the events of the previous night. The faint scent of cedarwood lingered in the air, the same scent that always clung to Alpha Henry. My stomach twisted. How had he found out? How did he know I was pregnant?A sudden sound made me flinch. The door creaked open, and a guard stepped in, his imposing frame filling the doorway. He carried a tray of food, which he placed on the table without a word.“Eat,” he said gruffly, his tone devoid of warmth.I hesitated, my eyes darting to the tray before flickering back to him. “Why am I here?” I asked, my voice trembling. The guard didn’t respond. He simply turned and left, the door slamming shut behind him. I stared at the food, my appetite nonexistent despite the gnawi
Katherine's POVThe gravel crunched under the wheels of my car as I pulled into the long driveway of the mansion. The imposing structure loomed ahead, its stone facade cold and unyielding, much like the man who ruled it. My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I exhaled sharply. Something wasn’t right, and I was determined to find out what. The soft buzz of my phone interrupted my thoughts. I glanced at the screen and immediately answered. “Tina,” I said, my voice low but laced with urgency.“Kat,” Tina’s voice was just as sharp. “Any updates?”“No,” I muttered, frustration bubbling beneath my calm exterior. “Henry’s been… distant. Even more than usual. I’ve tried to talk to him, but he either changes the subject or flat-out ignores me. Something’s going on, Tina. I can feel it.”“Of course something’s going on,” she replied, her voice tinged with exasperation. “You don’t just disappear for hours and then act like nothing’s wrong. And what about the locked wing? Have you checked th
Tesla’s POVThe small room was suffocating. Four stone walls, a narrow cot, and a single window so high up it barely let in light. The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the floor, mocking me with its warmth and freedom.I sat on the edge of the cot, staring at the chipped plate of untouched food from breakfast. The air felt thick, choking even. The creak of the door broke the silence, and I looked up to see the maid step in, balancing another tray of food. She was young, maybe in her early twenties, with a nervous energy that made her hands shake as she set the tray down."You didn’t eat the last one," she said softly, her eyes darting between me and the cold food.I didn’t respond, my gaze fixed on the fork lying next to the tray. An idea formed in my mind, reckless and desperate."You’re wasting your time," I muttered, picking up the fork and twirling it in my hand. She hesitated. "You have to eat something, Miss Tesla. You can’t survive like this.""Maybe I don’t want to survi
Henry’s POVI leaned against the cold stone wall, the cries of the infant echoing through the room like a sweet melody of triumph. The scent of blood and despair lingered in the air, thick and intoxicating. It was over. Finally, after all the scheming, after all the sacrifices, I had the child. The ultimate weapon.Tesla stirred on the cot beside me, her lashes fluttering as she began to wake. I crouched down, waiting for the moment her eyes opened.“Ah, Tesla,” I murmured as she blinked in confusion, her disorientation palpable. “Welcome back to the land of the living.”Her gaze darted around the room, and I saw it—the moment she realized where she was. Then, her eyes landed on me. Hatred. Fear. A dash of sorrow. It was all there, written across her face.“Where is he?” she whispered, her voice hoarse.I grinned, savoring the question. “Oh, Kael? Right there.”Her head whipped around, and her breath hitched as she saw him. Kael stood at the far end of the room, his arms tied behind h
Kael's POV I tightened my grip on Jarek’s arm as we crouched behind the cluster of crates. Marcus’s massive wolf form prowled through the ruined alley, his growls reverberating through the air like a storm about to break. Jarek’s breathing was ragged, his fear evident as he glanced toward the hospital in the distance. “We can’t keep hiding,” Jarek whispered, his voice barely audible over Marcus’s snarls. “He’ll find us.” I nodded, my mind racing. There was only one way out of this, and it wasn’t one we could both take together. “Listen to me,” I said, keeping my voice calm despite the chaos. “You’re going to run to the hospital. Now. I’ll distract him.” Jarek’s eyes widened in disbelief. “No! Are you insane? He’ll kill you!” “Jarek,” I snapped, grabbing his shoulders and forcing him to look at me. “I’ve faced worse than Marcus. I can handle this. But if you stay here, we both die. You need to go.” He shook his head, his resolve wavering. “I can’t just leave you here—” “Yes, you
Tesla's POVMy lungs burned as Ana and I sprinted through the narrow hallway, her grip on the baby firm yet protective. The service exit Serena had mentioned was in sight, but the echo of heavy boots and snarling voices behind us reminded me that Henry wouldn’t let us escape so easily.“Faster, Ana,” I urged, my voice hoarse with desperation.“I’m trying!” she hissed, the baby starting to fuss in her arms.We burst into the dimly lit alley, but the moment we did, Henry’s imposing figure materialized from the shadows ahead, blocking our path. His smirk was sinister, his presence suffocating.“Going somewhere?” he drawled, tilting his head mockingly.Ana stumbled to a halt, clutching the baby closer to her chest. “Stay back!” she spat, her voice trembling but determined.Henry ignored her, his eyes narrowing as they locked onto me. “Tesla, Tesla… running doesn’t suit you. It’s pathetic, really.”I stepped in front of Ana and the baby, my body trembling but my resolve unshaken. “Leave th
Serena’s POVThe sound of Henry’s voice brought me to a standstill. I froze for a heartbeat, then quickly turned to face the hall where the heavy footsteps were approaching. I could feel Tesla tensing behind me, and Ana instinctively pulled the baby closer to her chest.“Well, well,” Henry drawled, stepping into view with his men flanking him. His piercing gaze landed on me, a smirk curling his lips. “Serena. I expected better from you. By my side, doing as you were told. But no, here you are, busy siding with Tesla. How disappointing.”“I’m not here for you, Henry,” I said firmly, standing my ground. He chuckled, his eyes glinting with dark amusement as he shifted his gaze to Tesla. “Tesla, you look… good. A little worse for wear, perhaps, but still stunning.” He blew her a kiss mockingly, and my blood boiled. “If only you’d accepted my offer. I would’ve given you everything—protection, power, your child’s future secured. no, you turned me down. And now, well…” His smirk widened. “I
I blinked, taken aback. Leave? What was she talking about?“What do you mean, leave?” I demanded, pushing myself up from the bed. My body screamed in protest, but I ignored the pain. “Why are you here, Serena? Aren’t you with Henry?”Ana stood up, protectively positioning herself in front of the baby as though instinctively sensing the shift in tension. Serena raised an eyebrow, her gaze hard.“I’m not here to explain myself,” Serena said, her voice growing more insistent. “Henry knows you’re here. He knows about this place. And he’ll be coming for you.”I felt a cold shiver run through me. Henry? How could he possibly know? This wasn’t the first time I’d escaped his reach, but if he was after us again...“How do you know that?” I asked, my voice trembling with the gravity of the situation.Serena looked over her shoulder, her expression cautious, almost paranoid. She closed the door behind her, ensuring no one else was around before she stepped closer to me, lowering her voice.“It d
Kael’s POVI felt the hair on the back of my neck rise as Marcus smiled, his eyes flashing with an unsettling gleam. Without warning, he dropped into a crouch, his body trembling with energy. And then, in a moment that happened so fast I almost didn’t catch it, his form rippled and shifted. In an instant, he wasn’t human anymore.Marcus had transformed into a massive wolf, his fur bristling with power. His glowing eyes locked onto mine, filled with a feral hunger. My heart pounded in my chest, but something was wrong. I didn’t feel the usual pull to shift into my wolf form. My body refused to cooperate. It was as if my wolf... was gone.I snarled inwardly, trying to force the shift. But nothing. My wolf didn’t respond."What's wrong, Kael?" Marcus’s voice rumbled from the giant wolf’s mouth, the words almost mocking. "No transformation? Looks like living the peaceful life comes with a cost."I gritted my teeth, frustration building in me. This was impossible. My connection to my wolf
Kael’s POVThe quiet hum of the room was almost soothing as I stood there, watching the doctor carefully adjust Tesla’s unconscious body on the bed. She was pale, her chest rising and falling shallowly as the doctor worked with an air of practiced calm. It was frustrating to see her like this—weak, vulnerable. But I knew she’d survive. She was strong, stronger than most. The doctor had assured me of that, but it didn’t make the sight of her any easier to stomach.“You’re sure she’ll be alright?” I asked again, my voice low, a tone of disbelief still lingering in the words. The doctor didn’t flinch, his hands moving expertly as he checked the IV line he’d just set up. “She’ll be fine, Kael. She’s just exhausted. Give her some time to recover, and she’ll be back on her feet.”I nodded stiffly, eyes never leaving Tesla’s still form. I wanted to believe him, but I couldn’t. Not yet. Not until I saw her open her eyes again. I clenched my fists at my sides, muscles tense.“Take care of her,
I pushed further into the factory, each step calculated, cautious. My eyes flicked around the room, looking for anything that might give me a clue. The place was littered with broken crates, empty wood piles, and rusted equipment. But there was one thing that caught my eye—the remnants of a struggle. Some marks on the floor, scratches in the wood—some kind of evidence.I sniffed again, honing in on the source.Kael had been here.I knelt beside the marks, tracing them with my claw. The floor had been disturbed, the wood gouged deep. Whatever had happened here was messy—too messy to ignore. Something told me I was getting closer. The hair on the back of my neck stood up as I stood again, my senses sharp, my body tense.I turned toward a set of stairs leading to an upper level. My instincts screamed at me to climb, to get higher and get a better view of what was going on. With one swift motion, I bounded up the steps, my claws scraping against the metal. The air on the upper level was t
Marcus’s POVThe air was thick with the scent of death. I knelt down, inhaling deeply, trying to catch a trace. The stench of blood, sweat, and earth filled my nose, but something else lingered—something I knew all too well. Kael.It didn’t take long to spot the bodies of the werewolves scattered across the ground, their fur matted with their own blood. I was no stranger to death, especially not the kind caused by a pack on the run. But this? This was different. These wolves hadn’t died to a rival pack. They hadn’t been taken down by hunters. They’d been killed in a way that only one kind of person—Kael—could do.I stood, running a hand through my hair, trying to steady my pulse. He was close. I could feel it in my bones. His scent was still fresh in the air, mixed in with the others. There was no denying it. He wasn’t just close—he was near. And I wasn’t going to let him slip away this time.I looked down at the fallen bodies, not surprised. They didn’t stand a chance. Whoever had ta
