Katherine's POV

The gravel crunched under the wheels of my car as I pulled into the long driveway of the mansion. The imposing structure loomed ahead, its stone facade cold and unyielding, much like the man who ruled it. My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I exhaled sharply. Something wasn’t right, and I was determined to find out what.

The soft buzz of my phone interrupted my thoughts. I glanced at the screen and immediately answered. “Tina,” I said, my voice low but laced with urgency.

“Kat,” Tina’s voice was just as sharp. “Any updates?”

“No,” I muttered, frustration bubbling beneath my calm exterior. “Henry’s been… distant. Even more than usual. I’ve tried to talk to him, but he either changes the subject or flat-out ignores me. Something’s going on, Tina. I can feel it.”

“Of course something’s going on,” she replied, her voice tinged with exasperation. “You don’t just disappear for hours and then act like nothing’s wrong. And what about the locked wing? Have you checked th

Tesla’s POVThe small room was suffocating. Four stone walls, a narrow cot, and a single window so high up it barely let in light. The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the floor, mocking me with its warmth and freedom.I sat on the edge of the cot, staring at the chipped plate of untouched food from breakfast. The air felt thick, choking even. The creak of the door broke the silence, and I looked up to see the maid step in, balancing another tray of food. She was young, maybe in her early twenties, with a nervous energy that made her hands shake as she set the tray down."You didn’t eat the last one," she said softly, her eyes darting between me and the cold food.I didn’t respond, my gaze fixed on the fork lying next to the tray. An idea formed in my mind, reckless and desperate."You’re wasting your time," I muttered, picking up the fork and twirling it in my hand. She hesitated. "You have to eat something, Miss Tesla. You can’t survive like this.""Maybe I don’t want to survi

Alpha Henry’s POVThe rich aroma of roasted venison wafted through the dining hall as I leaned back in my chair, a towel draped over my shoulders. My hair was still damp from the pool, and droplets of water clung to my skin, catching the golden glow of the chandelier above. I picked up my goblet, swirling the deep red wine within, savoring the calm that came after a long day.The door creaked open. I didn’t bother looking up, expecting one of the servants with more food or drink. But the heavy footsteps told me otherwise.“What is it?” I asked, my voice low and measured as I set the goblet down. One of my guards stepped forward, his face pale and uneasy. “Alpha, it’s Tesla… She’s escaped.”I froze, my fingers curling against the edge of the table. Slowly, I lifted my gaze to meet his. “What did you just say?”“She escaped, sir. The maid unlocked the door, and—”“What were they doing?” My voice was quiet, calm, but I could see the guard flinch at the edge of danger beneath it.“We purs

My lips trembled, but then they curved into a slow smile. It wasn’t just shock—it was something more. A strange mix of hope, satisfaction, and triumph.“When did you find out?” I asked softly, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me.“This morning,” the doctor said cautiously, his eyes flicking between my face and the clipboard in his hands. “I wanted to confirm the results before telling you.”I nodded, brushing a stray lock of hair from my face. “Does he know?”The doctor hesitated. “I called him right before you arrived. He should be on his way now.”Perfect.A soft knock came from the door, and my heart skipped a beat. The handle turned, and there he was—Alpha Henry. His towering frame filled the doorway, his presence commanding as always. But this time, there was something else. C

Tesla’s POVThe smell of roasted meat filled the room, making my stomach churn with a mix of hunger and unease. A plate of food sat in front of me, its warmth seeping into the cool air. It was far more generous than I expected from a rogue pack—an actual meal instead of scraps. A glass of water glistened beside it, the condensation trickling down like a taunt.I needed to eat. My body ached for something nourishing, something to keep my strength up. But the weight of his gaze pinned me in place. The rogue leader—no, their Alpha—sat across the room, lounging in his chair like a king surveying his domain. His sharp, calculating eyes never left me, dissecting every twitch of my fingers, every shallow breath I took.“You’re not eating,” he said, his voice deep, smooth, and far too calm for someone who radiated such raw power.“I’m not hungry,” I lied, gripping the edge of the table tightly to steady my trembling hands. He chuckled, the sound low and dark. “You might be able to lie to your

Alpha Henry’s POV I stood up suddenly, slamming my palm onto the table with enough force to send a few papers flying. My claws almost slipped out of their sheath, the urge to tear something apart burning through my veins. How could they let a single female werewolf slip away like that? They were supposed to be trained, efficient. I growled, my chest tightening with anger. “My guards couldn’t catch one female wolf, and now she’s in enemy territory, of all places. Just perfect,” I muttered, pacing. Every step felt like the floor was shaking beneath me. “Great. Just great,” I gritted through my teeth. I had ordered them to keep an eye on her—Tesla. She was my responsibility, whether I wanted to admit it or not. There was no excuse for letting her disappear. But now she was out there, in rogue lands, and the chaos that would follow would be endless if I didn’t handle it properly. And that’s when it hit me, the one thing I couldn’t let anyone find out. The child. My child. If anyone dis

"I assure you," I said, my voice cutting through the chatter, "this is an opportunity we cannot afford to let slip. For years, we’ve struggled to penetrate Alpha Henry’s territory, and now we have the weapon to do it." I could feel their eyes shift between me and Tesla, who stood at the side, held captive by my guards. She looked defiant, her eyes fierce even though she was clearly restrained. But what caught my attention more than her was the realization of what she represented. This was my chance to take down my rival and claim what should have been mine from the beginning. The murmurs grew louder as the council members exchanged quick glances. They were calculating, weighing their options. I could practically hear the gears turning in their heads. Tesla, the key to dismantling Henry’s empire, was standing right in front of them. My heart thudded with a mix of excitement and anticipation. This was it—the moment everything could change. "This... this could get out of control, thoug

Serena's POVThe moon hung high in the sky, its glow spilling through the large windows of Alpha Henry’s office. I sat in the chair opposite him, my hands resting on my lap, nervously twisting the fabric of my dress. Henry’s sharp, calculating gaze pinned me to my seat, his features set in stone. Whatever he had called me here for was important.“Serena,” he began, leaning back in his chair, his fingers steepled together. “You know I’m glad you’re pregnant. It’s... reassuring. The pack needs a future, and you’ll give me that.”I swallowed hard. His words sounded more like a statement of ownership than affection. “I know, Henry,” I said softly, searching his face for a hint of warmth that wasn’t there. “But why call me here now? At this hour?”He leaned forward, his voice dropping. “Because I need your help.”My heart skipped a beat. Henry didn’t ask for help—he demanded it. The fact that he was framing it as a request was unsettling. “Help with what?”His jaw tightened, and he hesita

I swallowed hard, trying to steady my breathing."Tesla," he said, his voice low but commanding, "why is she really here?""She's just a friend," Tesla replied quickly, too quickly. I could feel her tension, and I knew she was trying to protect me, though I wasn’t sure why. "She came to see me."His piercing eyes flicked back to me, skeptical. "A friend? From Henry’s pack?"I felt like a mouse under the gaze of a hawk. "I—I’m leaving," I stammered, taking a small step back toward the door. "I delivered the message. That’s all. I’ll be out of your way now.""You won’t be going anywhere," the Alpha said, his tone final.I froze, my heart hammering in my chest. His words weren’t a suggestion; they were an order."But I don’t want to stay!" The words burst out of me before I could stop them. "I don’t belong here. Henry’s POVI leaned against the cold stone wall, the cries of the infant echoing through the room like a sweet melody of triumph. The scent of blood and despair lingered in the air, thick and intoxicating. It was over. Finally, after all the scheming, after all the sacrifices, I had the child. The ultimate weapon.Tesla stirred on the cot beside me, her lashes fluttering as she began to wake. I crouched down, waiting for the moment her eyes opened.“Ah, Tesla,” I murmured as she blinked in confusion, her disorientation palpable. “Welcome back to the land of the living.”Her gaze darted around the room, and I saw it—the moment she realized where she was. Then, her eyes landed on me. Hatred. Fear. A dash of sorrow. It was all there, written across her face.“Where is he?” she whispered, her voice hoarse.I grinned, savoring the question. “Oh, Kael? Right there.”Her head whipped around, and her breath hitched as she saw him. Kael stood at the far end of the room, his arms tied behind h

Marcus’s massive wolf form prowled through the ruined alley, his growls reverberating through the air like a storm about to break. Jarek’s breathing was ragged, his fear evident as he glanced toward the hospital in the distance. “We can’t keep hiding,” Jarek whispered, his voice barely audible over Marcus’s snarls. “He’ll find us.” I nodded, my mind racing. There was only one way out of this, and it wasn’t one we could both take together. “Listen to me,” I said, keeping my voice calm despite the chaos. “You’re going to run to the hospital. Now. I’ll distract him.” Jarek’s eyes widened in disbelief. “No! Are you insane? He’ll kill you!” “Jarek,” I snapped, grabbing his shoulders and forcing him to look at me. “I’ve faced worse than Marcus. I can handle this. But if you stay here, we both die. You need to go.” He shook his head, his resolve wavering. “I can’t just leave you here—” “Yes, you

His piercing gaze landed on me, a smirk curling his lips. “Serena. I expected better from you. By my side, doing as you were told. But no, here you are, busy siding with Tesla. How disappointing.”“I’m not here for you, Henry,” I said firmly, standing my ground. He chuckled, his eyes glinting with dark amusement as he shifted his gaze to Tesla. “Tesla, you look… good. A little worse for wear, perhaps, but still stunning.” He blew her a kiss mockingly, and my blood boiled. “If only you’d accepted my offer. My body screamed in protest, but I ignored the pain. “Why are you here, Serena? Aren’t you with Henry?”Ana stood up, protectively positioning herself in front of the baby as though instinctively sensing the shift in tension. Serena raised an eyebrow, her gaze hard.“I’m not here to explain myself,” Serena said, her voice growing more insistent. “Henry knows you’re here. He knows about this place. And he’ll be coming for you.”I felt a cold shiver run through me. Henry? How could he possibly know? This wasn’t the first time I’d escaped his reach, but if he was after us again...“How do you know that?” I asked, my voice trembling with the gravity of the situation.Serena looked over her shoulder, her expression cautious, almost paranoid. She closed the door behind her, ensuring no one else was around before she stepped closer to me, lowering her voice.“It d

Kael’s POVI felt the hair on the back of my neck rise as Marcus smiled, his eyes flashing with an unsettling gleam. Without warning, he dropped into a crouch, his body trembling with energy. And then, in a moment that happened so fast I almost didn’t catch it, his form rippled and shifted. In an instant, he wasn’t human anymore.Marcus had transformed into a massive wolf, his fur bristling with power. His glowing eyes locked onto mine, filled with a feral hunger. My heart pounded in my chest, but something was wrong. I didn’t feel the usual pull to shift into my wolf form. My body refused to cooperate. It was as if my wolf... was gone.I snarled inwardly, trying to force the shift. But nothing. My wolf didn’t respond."What's wrong, Kael?" Kael’s POVThe quiet hum of the room was almost soothing as I stood there, watching the doctor carefully adjust Tesla’s unconscious body on the bed. She was pale, her chest rising and falling shallowly as the doctor worked with an air of practiced calm. It was frustrating to see her like this—weak, vulnerable. But I knew she’d survive. She was strong, stronger than most. The doctor had assured me of that, but it didn’t make the sight of her any easier to stomach.“You’re sure she’ll be alright?” I asked again, my voice low, a tone of disbelief still lingering in the words. The doctor didn’t flinch, his hands moving expertly as he checked the IV line he’d just set up. “She’ll be fine, Kael. She’s just exhausted. Give her some time to recover, and she’ll be back on her feet.”I nodded stiffly, eyes never leaving Tesla’s still form. I wanted to believe him, but I couldn’t. Not yet. Not until I saw her open her eyes again. I clenched my fists at my sides, muscles tense.“Take care of her,

I pushed further into the factory, each step calculated, cautious. My eyes flicked around the room, looking for anything that might give me a clue. The place was littered with broken crates, empty wood piles, and rusted equipment. But there was one thing that caught my eye—the remnants of a struggle. Some marks on the floor, scratches in the wood—some kind of evidence.I sniffed again, honing in on the source.Kael had been here.I knelt beside the marks, tracing them with my claw. The floor had been disturbed, the wood gouged deep. Whatever had happened here was messy—too messy to ignore. Something told me I was getting closer. Kael.It didn’t take long to spot the bodies of the werewolves scattered across the ground, their fur matted with their own blood. I was no stranger to death, especially not the kind caused by a pack on the run. But this? This was different. These wolves hadn’t died to a rival pack. They hadn’t been taken down by hunters. They’d been killed in a way that only one kind of person—Kael—could do.I stood, running a hand through my hair, trying to steady my pulse. He was close. I could feel it in my bones. His scent was still fresh in the air, mixed in with the others. There was no denying it. He wasn’t just close—he was near.
