Chapter 7

At that moment, my heart ached so much I could not breathe.

When his parents died, he had to live in poverty, so I took care of him.

When it was cold, I bought clothes for him. When he fell sick, I nursed him back to health.

When he had his first heartbreak and wept, I was the one who comforted him.

He even claimed that I was like his sister, and he would take care of me when I was old.

But even he refused to believe I was innocent.

He even called me a traitor and an evil person!

Just then, a kind voice sounded. “I hope I’m not late.”

The crowd parted.

A spirited old man with a head full of white hair walked in with a smile and took out two wedding gifts. “Congratulations, Jim and Grace.”

He was my beloved teacher and the leading researcher of the lab. He was Professor Luke Young.

“Thank you, Professor!” Grace thanked Luke sweetly.

Luke then turned to Jim. “Treat Grace well. She suffered a great deal to get to where she is today.”

Jim nodded earnestly. “I will.”
