Matamoros's POV

"I'm breaking the Alpha bond," I admitted, "the one I share with Eamon. I need to do this for us, for our future."

Concern etched across her face, Isadora implored, "Matamoros, it's too risky. You can't go alone. Remember how Eamon almost killed you? We have power now. I can arrange a few men to go with you."

"No, Isadora," I refused, my tone resolute. "This is a journey I must take alone."

As Isadora was about to argue further, I swiftly grabbed her by the cheeks, pulling her into another passionate kiss. After a moment, I broke away, telling her, "I love you," once more. With that, I grabbed my backpack and walked out of the cabin.

Just as I opened the door, Isadora called me back, her voice tinged with a sober tone. "Why do you have to be so hard-headed, Matamoros?"

I turned around, looking into her eyes. "If you truly love me, Isadora, you'll understand why I'm doing this."
