Chapter 6

Jason leaned against the railing. Meanwhile, the evening light danced on the surface of the rippling water behind him.

“After that, I secured a collaboration with the Smith family and made plans to return for future career development.

“Then, I caught you falling head over heels for that fool.

“At the party, I asked him if he liked you. He didn’t say much and asked me if I had feelings for you too.”

He turned and looked at me with a hint of guilt on his face. “I was too young and impulsive. Feeling competitive at that moment, I nodded.”

I did not need him to finish, as I started to remember what had happened.

That night, Joe called me at 11 p.m. and asked me to pick him up. He made me wait in the cold at the entrance for an hour before he finally came out.

The first thing he did was pinch my face and stare at it for a moment. Then, he smiled and said, “Such an ordinary face…”

It took me two years to understand what he meant.

How could anyone fall for someone like me?
