[ Denise's POV ]

I went to Mavis's room, after I dismissed Jake. I stood at Mavis's doorstep crimping my hands, anticipating whether to knock on the door or not. After a few seconds of standing at the door, I knocked on the door, but no response came from Mavis. I knocked on the door again, but Mavis didn't utter a word, and after I knocked on the door the third time, and he didn't say a word for me to come in, I entered the room at my own will.

I met Mavis sitting on the couch in his room, reading a book. "Didn't you hear when I was knocking?" I asked.

"No I didn't" He answered.

"Can we talk?"

"No we can't, I am reading" He said, not looking at my face. I looked at the book in his hand, and it was turned upside down, which meant he wasn't reading the book, he just used the book to cover his face, so he wouldn't look at me.

"Really? Are you reading or are you trying to avoid looking at my face?" I asked.

"I am reading Denise. Go back to your room and leave me alone" He said. I walked
