LOGINWhen Evie Crichton comes to Sirius she has no idea how the placement on the planet will change her life. On her first assignment in her new base she meets Ethan Nacher, the chief of a military team stationed near the base. From the very first moment dark handsome Sirian is a mystery that keeps her awake at night. But his behavior is just confusing-one minute it seems he wants to keep his distance and the next he is everywhere she goes. For Ethan Evie Crichton is like an unattainable dream. He loses his head for her the first minute he sees her. But he is just a Sirian soldier put in charge of protecting the Earthian base and he is convinced a beautiful Earthian girl would not ever care to look at him. Unexpected attack on the base forces Ethan to make on the spot decision. He saves Evie from the bombarded base and takes her on a journey through the jungle to his home city. He promises that when they get there he'll help Evie contact another base and return to her people. But will she want to return? On the journey despite her better judgement Evie falls for the handsome soldier more and more every day. However Ethan seems to treat her just as a burden for his team. Was the chemistry that seemed to have been building between them before just in Evie's head? As they face dangers on their way they will both have to face their feelings as well and decide whether they are stronger than reason.
View More*From now on the atmosphere has changed indeed. There was a feeling of intimacy between them that Evie hasn’t experienced before. Ethan kept close to her now most of the time, he didn’t avoid her as before. When they were marching he walked by her side and they were talking easily. At the stops, he sat closer to her than any time before. Her heart was bursting with happiness but she wished he diminished the distance even more as she was still too intimidated to make the first step herself. She had no idea how Sirians proceeded with relationships and she didn't want to make any false steps. Was it that the same precaution was holding Ethan back? He hasn't even tried to kiss her yet. His closeness and the fact she couldn't touch him were driving
*Days stretched into the second week of their journey. Evie got used to its routine and she felt a part of the team now. Most of the boys have ventured to talk to her by now and she got to know some of them by name. However, each passing day made her realize that the journey was getting closer to the end. She felt growing frustration thinking that when they get to Fort Lourdes there would be nothing beyond it for her. It suddenly freaked her out. She usually welcomed challenges, she liked change, going to new places, and meeting new people but all of a sudden she felt as if there was some black void before her which she didn’t wish to know. She didn't want to just settle in another base and build her life anew with new and yet the same kind of people
Evie woke up at first light. Her face was cold but the rest of her body under the sleeping bag was comfortably warm. With disorientation she remembered having trembled with cold the previous evening and then she recalled Ethan getting to her side to warm her up. She felt so warm as if he was still lying by her side. But she couldn’t feel his body anywhere near. She opened her eyes carefully and saw him bustling about the fire. She lay motionless for some time savoring the memory of the previous night, regretting that it was over so soon. He must have looked at her and noticed she was awake for Evie heard him say: ‘I didn’t want to wake you. Do you want coffee?’‘You didn&rs
The next day they reached the foot of the mountain range. As they started to climb up vegetation became more and more sparse trees giving to lower bushes. The range was not very steep, it rose gently above the level of the bush but when Evie looked back one moment it turned out the tops of the tall trees were way below them. For some time they were surrounded with low shrubs covered in thick half leaves- half needles giving out a sharp fresh smell, then it was just grass and moss and rocks. The air here was evidently cooler and it became crystal clear due to the lack of humidity. It was easier to breathe and Evie found it easier to walk despite the climb. On the other hand, the air was dry up here and she felt more thirsty so she took another bassa fruit from Ethan and was chewing it slowly on the way. They stopped for the night quite late as the sun was visible for longer up here without the bush obscuri
