Chapter 4

"Actually your brother is not in the office today. He had to attend a meeting in City Centre, so I need to drive there specially if i had to deliver him his wallet. But I will be late for office if I do so." Amyra said with a troubled expressed on her face.

Nicholas wiped his mouth and said," I see. You don't need to worry. I will deliver it to him. you can go to office now."

Amyra handed him the wallet and left after she smiled at her Gina and Shelley. As soon as she turned, a smirk appeared on her face as she thought in her heart," You will have to marry Olivia, Nicholas. And I will make sure to let this marriage happen by hook or crook."

After finishing his breakfast, Nicholas picked up the wallet and walked outside after saying bye to his mother and grandmother.

He didn't plan to drive himself so he asked the chauffeur to drive him to city center. After 40 minutes, the car stopped in front of the city centre and Nicholas called Andrew to ask his assistant to collect wallet from him.

As soon as the phone connected, Andrew asked him directly," Are you here, Nicholas?" He sounded like he was has been waiting for Nicholas very eagerly. Nicholas felt it very weird because his brother was very responsible and was very unusual of him to forget his wallet at home in the first place.

He could ask his assistant to get it from home as well then why did he ask Amyra to send him to deliver it personally.

"Are you listening, Nicholas?" His chain of thoughts broke when he heard his brother's desperate voice again from the other side.

"Yes bro, I am outside the City centre. Ask your assistant to collect your wallet from me." Nicholas said as he caressed the wallet in his hands.

"The meeting is about to end and he is busy in taking the notes. We are in the conference room on 18th floor. Can you please come inside and deliver it to me personally?"Andrew said as a matter of fact.

"Okay. I see. I will be there in a few minutes". Nicholas said as he opened the door and disconnected the call.

He walked inside the centre and after passing through security, he entered the elevator and pressed '18' completely oblivious from the pleasant surprising awaiting for him in the conference room.

As the elevator stopped on the 18th floor, Nicholas came out and asked the receptionist about the confrence room. The receptionist looked at him and felt mesmerized by his looks. Nicholas had put on a casual white shirt with blue jeans and even that simple attire made all the female staff present there lose their senses.

"Can you please tell me where the conference room is?" Nicholas repeated again when he noticed that the girl present there was busy scanning him without replying to his question.

This time, the girl nodded her head with embarrassment and said while stuttering," Y-yesss s- sssssir. You can turn right from there and the first room is conference room."

"Thanks." Nicholas said and walked in the direction told by the receptionist. He was not surprised by the reaction of the girl since he has been used to it for a long time.

As soon as he reached outside the conference room, he realised that meeting has not ended yet so he decided to wait for some time. He casually peeked inside and what he saw inside made his heart skip a beat.

He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Eliza sitting inside the room amongst the members present in the meeting. There were only two women inside. One of them had her face towards the door and the other hand her back.

Even though she has changed a lot in these 5 years but no matter how she changed he could recognise her with just a glance. Her sudden appearance in front of her reminded him of the rainy day when he met her last time.

Suddenly the scene when she slapped him in the face after he proposed her appeared in his mind and a bitter smile appeared on his face without him noticing it.

He didn't know for how long he stood there while his eyes glued on the woman inside the room until someone tapped on his shoulder. He regained his senses and was surprised to see Olivia stood beside Andrew with a smile on her face.

'Oh, so she was the other woman inside'. Nicholas thought to himself and was surprised once again when he found the place empty where Eliza was sitting earlier.

'Was it just my illusion?' Nicholas thought to himself as he tried to find her by looking here and there but didn't see any trace of her.

"Hey, Nicholas! Who are you looking for?" Olivia waved her hand in front of Nicholas and asked trying to get his attention.

"No- it's nothing." Nicholas said and handed the wallet to Andrew who has been looking at him and Olivia with amusement. Now he understood that it was Andrew and Amyra's plan to arrange the meeting between him Olivia.

He had clearly told them he didn't have any interest in her but why they were still trying to match them with each other.

Nicholas felt frustrated and turned to leave when the door of the conference room opened and Eliza came out being followed by a man.

His eyes shone with happiness and he could feel his heart beating wildly when she walked past him. She had her head down and she didn't spare a glance to anyone.

Nicholas kept watching her receding figure until. she disappeared from his eyes. After she left, Nicholas asked his brother," Who was that woman, bro?"

"She is Eliza Davis, the boss of the Davis Corporation."Andrew replied to him as he gave him a suspicious look.

Nicholas knew what his brother was thinking but he had no time to bother about him. Now when he knew that Eliza had become the boss of her father's company, it won't be a problem for him to pursue her.

Even though his brother and sister-in-law didn't do it purposely, he was secretly thankful to them for making him come to the city centre.

Olivia felt envious as she saw the excitement on Nicholas's face as he enquired about Eliza. She didn't see him this happy when she met him at his house in his welcome celebration event.
