Andrew's POV
As I stood there, still processing the unexpected kiss, Nate's words pulled me back into reality. His hand on my shoulder was grounding, I was totally lost until Nate spoke,"What happened, Andrew? Why do look like you just saw a ghost," he said after seeing my surprised and shocked face."A girl just....kissed me," I replied, my voice tinged with disbelief. Nate scoffed, he probably thought I was joking. Nate was my best friend, we met in high school and today he had arranged a welcome party for me, as I had returned from abroad after six years.Nate's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Well, was she pretty?" he asked. Yes, Nate was the kind of person who was more interested in what someone looked like. We had completely different personalities since high school, and no one knows how the two of us managed to stay friends for so long. But it didn't matter what others said, we were always there for each other.I couldn't help but smile at the memory, my hand still on my lips. "She was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, Nate," I admitted, she truly was amazing. Her eyes were shining so brightly as if they held the world in them. Her lips were so soft, and her scent so dizzying.Nate chuckled, "Congratulations, then," he said, putting his arm around my shoulder, "And welcome back. I have no shame in admitting that I'm quite jealous though."His remark made me smile, and then we made our way to our private lounge.I had indeed been away for years, immersed in the world of business as I prepared to take over my father's company. My father had a vision for me, and I had no choice but to follow his words.People were terrified of me, not because I belonged to such a wealthy background but because I always had my walls up. I never let anyone see through me, it was like I had managed to form a bubble around me and that's why people were afraid. I was never the sunshine kind of person, I always had that black cat energy within me. I had to be perfect or else I had no worth of my own.But today, I felt something different inside, an emotion I've never felt. I glanced around the bar, and I tried to find the woman who had kissed me earlier, but there was no sign of her. Never in a million years had I imagined that I would find myself in this situation – kissed by a pretty stranger amid a bar.Throughout the entire night, my eyes kept searching for the mysterious girl. But I guess, luck wasn't on my side today. It felt like a fairytale story in a modern world, the girl after kissing the guy disappears into the night. But the problem was, I should've forgotten about her by now but, I couldn't stop thinking about her. The whole night, I kept wondering who she was. Her bright eyes kept flashing in my mind.I tried to enjoy the party with my friends, but her eyes overshadowed everything. I hoped to see her again, but she was gone, and I couldn't find her in the crowded bar."Sorry guys, I have to go now," I said as I stood up and grabbed my coat. Said my goodbyes, but as I made my way out, something in me clicked. I turned around and went straight towards the bartender.I asked him about the woman, hoping that he might be able to tell me something, anything about her. But I should have known better, he said he didn't remember anyone of the sort I was asking about.I went back home, but her image was still in my thoughts. I couldn't help but wonder if I'd ever see her again. My entire life had been a carefully scripted story, one where I played the role of the perfect son destined to inherit my father's renowned fashion empire. From a very young age, I was groomed to take over the business and company, taught to focus solely on work and the family legacy.I never questioned anything and did exactly as I was told to. I was a kid when my mom died, and I had no one around to console me. My father remarried her mistress and she gave birth to a son. She always wanted to drag me down and kept scheming against me.Meanwhile I, on the other hand, had no interest. No matter what, I always thought of Devon as my own little brother. They were the only family I had, and no matter how they were, I still hoped for what was best for them. The women I had dated before were chosen by my father and were solely chosen based on business connections and family reputation. The dates were very much devoid of genuine connection, filled with women who were more interested in my last name than in getting to know the real me. They were just plain boring women, that gave the same answers to my questions. However, tonight was different. The kiss from the mysterious girl had jolted me out of my controlled existence. For the first time, my heart fluttered with an entirely unfamiliar feeling – a sensation of being swept away by someone's presence. It wasn't just a kiss; it was an emotion. Something I have craved for my entire life. I felt like I was on cloud nine, but the girl had slipped away from my hands. I should have grabbed her by the waist, I shouldn't have let her go. I wondered if I'll ever be able to see her again if I'll ever be able to feel like this again. There were a lot of ifs in my story, so I pushed my thoughts aside and closed my eyes. I guess I was just never meant to feel love my entire life.Emery's POV"Ah," I moaned in pain, my head throbbing from all the shots and drinks I had last night. "I should have known this was going to happen". My mind drifted to the kiss I had last night, it was something I kept thinking about all night."Had too much to drink last night? Want me to make you some coffee?" my junior, Lilly, asked. She was concerned as I wasn't the kind of person to go out on a night like yesterday when I knew I had to go to work the next day. "You're an angel, Lilly," I said, grateful for her thoughtfulness, and she giggled in response. Her laughter was a ray of sunshine, I was truly lucky to have an intern like Lilly, the interns of other departments are as rude as it gets. As she went to prepare the coffee, I couldn't help but smile."Pull yourselves together, people!" Mr. Waymond's voice boomed, making us jump in our seats. He strolled in, trying to act cool. "The new CEO is about to witness our finest hour, or at least our most awake one," he exclaimed, hi
Andrew's POVWhile touring the office with the department heads, I couldn't help but be intrigued by the employee – a skin mask in the middle of the workday! It took all my willpower not to burst into laughter right then and there. As I planned changes to boost the sales of the company, my mind kept wandering back to the girl from last night. As I sat in my luxurious office, I found myself absentmindedly touching my lips, still tingling from the kiss last night. I wanted to find the girl, but I didn't know how and it kept complicating things for me. All I remembered was her face.I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a knock on the door, "Who is it?"I called out."May I come in Sir?" a familiar voice replied from the other side, I instantly recognized it. "You don't need to have my permission, Malcolm," I smiled, welcoming him inside. Malcolm, my secretary, and my only true family."So, how was the tour?" he inquired," I heard you're going to make some changes here?""It was good. Ye
Emery's POVI accidentally kissed a guy today, not knowing he's the new CEO the company I work in.Two Hours Earlier"I'm sorry Amanda, I can't come with you guys. I have to submit all the designs by tomorrow," I say in a pleading tone. The papers scattered in front of me were giving me anxiety, and I knew I needed a break but I had to finish all the pending work. And it's not like I afford a break, all my life I've just kept grinding, and now when I'm so close to achieving my dream, I can't stop."Emery! Listen to me, we're not going without you okay?". I hear Amanda's firm voice creak through the other side of the phone."But–," before I could say another word, she hung up. The signals were weak and maybe that's why the call dropped. I shook my head and started working on the designs again. Sometimes, I really just want to run away from everything and start a new life, where no one could recognize me, where I won't have to worry about anything or do any work. But I can't, no matter
