Zaza was missing, and so was Alpha Agger of the Riverlands. I looked around the room, searching the faces of my trusted allies, hoping to find some glimmer of reassurance. But all I saw were furrowed brows and uneasy glances, the same fear mirrored in every pair of eyes.

Karim stood closest to me, his face a mask of concern, but beneath it, I could sense the simmering anger and suspicion that had been growing ever since Alpha Jo had left.

"Where could they be?" I finally asked, my voice strained with the effort to keep calm. "Zaza wouldn’t just disappear without telling anyone. And Alpha Agger…"

"Exactly," Karim interrupted, his tone sharper than usual. "Alpha Agger wouldn’t just vanish either. Not without a reason. And considering everything that’s been happening, I don’t like this. Not one bit."

His words hung in the air, a dark cloud of suspicion that seemed to grow with every passing second. I could see the others shifting uncomfortably, their minds clearly racing with the same th

The recent revelations about Alpha Agger’s betrayal had shaken everyone, but it had also ignited a fire in their hearts. They were ready to act, ready to fight for the honor and safety of our lands. As I stood before them, I could feel their resolve, and their loyalty to our cause, and it filled me with a sense of responsibility that went beyond my own desires.“Ava,” Alpha Pax of the Darklands began, stepping forward with a fierce gleam in his eyes. “We stand with you. Let us go to the Riverlands together and bring Zaza back. We’ll make Agger pay for his treachery, and then we’ll march to Nashville and rid our lands of those bandits once and for all.”There was a murmur of agreement from the other Alphas. Their loyalty was unquestionable, but I could sense the undercurrent of tension. The recent events had shaken their trust in one another, and they were looking to me to lead them through this turmoil.I took a deep breath, steadying myself. “I appreciate your support,” I began, my v

As I sat in my tent, the flickering light of the lantern cast long shadows on the canvas walls, my mind was filled with decisions that still needed to be made. We had won a battle, but the war was far from over. My thoughts kept returning to Zaza, and the gnawing fear of what Maria might be doing to her.The tent flap rustled, breaking my reverie. I looked up to see Alpha Jo standing there, his expression conflicted. There was something in his eyes that I hadn’t seen before, a mixture of guilt, fear, and something else I couldn’t quite place.“Alpha Jo,” I acknowledged him, my tone more curt than I intended. “What do you want?”He hesitated for a moment, as if unsure whether to speak. Finally, he stepped further into the tent, closing the flap behind him. “Ava, I need to tell you something,” he began, his voice low and tense.I narrowed my eyes at him, a sense of foreboding curling in my chest. “What is it, Jo? Spit it out.”He took a deep breath, avoiding my gaze. “I… I think I know

As we reached the outskirts of Nashville, the night air was heavy with tension. My heart pounded as I surveyed the area, and there, which was brightened by the faint glow of the moon, I saw Maria’s trap. Massive pits filled with oil, waiting to be set ablaze. It was a deadly snare, meant to engulf my army in flames if we had come with full force. A cold shiver ran down my spine, but I felt a surge of relief that I had brought only a small group with me. We had a chance, but it would be slim.“Keep low,” I whispered to the men, my voice barely audible over the distant crackle of torches. “We’re going to have to fight our way through.”The omegas nodded, their faces set in grim determination. Alpha Jo, his face a mask of fury and regret, gritted his teeth and gripped his weapon tighter. We moved forward cautiously, every step a calculated risk. The air was thick with the smell of oil, and the shadows of Maria’s soldiers flitted through the trees. We stood low, slipping through the dark

Jo took a hesitant step toward me, his voice filled with desperation. “Ava, listen to me. I know you’re furious, and you have every right to be. But we can’t let our emotions get the better of us. If we’re going to save Zaza, we need to be smart about this. Maria wants you to lose control and that’s how she’ll win.”His words barely registered. My mind was consumed by the rage, by the sole need to protect the ones I loved. “I don’t care what Maria wants,” I spat. “I’m going to find Zaza, and I’m going to make sure she never suffers again. If that means tearing Maria apart with my bare hands, so be it.”Jo shook his head, a pained expression crossing his face. “Ava, please. We have to think this through. If we go in there blind, we’ll be walking right into her trap.”I stopped pacing, staring at him with a cold, unyielding gaze. “Then let her set her trap,” I said, my voice as sharp as a blade. “Let her think she’s won. But when I get my hands on her, she’ll realize she’s underestimate

The guards moved swiftly, seizing Alpha Pax by the arms as he struggled against them. The chamber erupted into chaos, the other Alphas rising from their seats in shock and outrage. But Maria’s voice cut through the noise like a blade.“Silence!” she commanded, her tone leaving no room for disobedience. “Alpha Pax has revealed himself as a traitor, conspiring with these criminals. He will be dealt with accordingly.”I watched in horror as Alpha Pax was dragged away, his fate sealed by Maria’s twisted version of justice. My mind raced, trying to find a way out of this nightmare, but Maria held all the power here, and she knew it.Alpha Agger, who had remained silent until now, stepped forward, his voice calm and measured. “Maria speaks the truth,” he said, his eyes meeting those of the other Alphas. “These outsiders have brought nothing but chaos and destruction to our lands. It is our duty to stand with Maria and restore order.”I could see doubt creeping into the minds of the other Al

The cell was cold, and the air was thick with the damp smell of stone and decay. My body ached from the wounds I had sustained, and the weight of the chains around my wrists reminded me of the precariousness of my situation. It had been days, perhaps weeks since I had been captured, and every moment had been a battle to stay conscious, to stay strong. As I lay there, half-awake and half-dreaming, a small noise caught my attention. A slight rustling, almost unnoticeable, came from the narrow slit that served as a window high up in the wall. I strained to focus, and then I saw a small, tightly rolled piece of parchment, barely visible in the dim light, slipping through the opening and landing softly on the floor. With a surge of energy born from desperation, I reached for it, my fingers trembling as I unfurled the note. It was from Karim. His handwriting was rough, the letters uneven, as if he had written it in haste.Ava, it began. We've heard that you’re in captivity. We’re planning

The grand hall of the palace was filled with an air of anticipation. I stood at the head of the room, my face hidden behind a mask crafted to conceal the remnants of the beast that had once overtaken me. Though I had regained control, the scars, both physical and emotional, remained. Before me stood the council, the elders, and the leaders from the Hinderlands, Riverlands, and Borderlands.
