Forcing myself to move, I looked over the sofa's edge to see Alec standing in the doorway in nothing but his sweatpants and bed hair. His handsome face crumpled in hurt; I could see those walls we had slowly knocked down today quickly going back up higher than before. Sighing, I held his gaze; our eyes danced momentarily in a lover's quarrel. I wanted to apologise, to say I didn't mean what I had said, to save him any hurt.
