Aurora POV

"Son of a bitch!" I whispered at no one in particular while looking down at my phone; my eyes scanned the message; the crude words glowing against the darkness of my screen left me speechless. A mixture of anger and fear crashed through my body like a tidal wave, destroying everything in its path. Even Ava was numb.

I shifted my eyes back to the body on the table before me; the wood table top cracked, splinters of wood everywhere, glasses shattered, and vibrant liquor mixed with the deep red of the blood oozing over the table in a dominant swirl. The male on the table stunk of fear, his face moulded in a mask of unadulterated terror, he had suffered, and it was clearly at Alec's hands!

"I should feel guilty!" I moaned to Ava, both of us knowing I should hate myself for pushing Alec and ignoring his warning, but I felt nothing but pure, unfiltered rage.

"What for?" Ava questioned abruptly. "For not heeding Alec's warning? For loving the psychopath to start with? For not listening to me earlier when I told you to run?" Sighing, I shook my head angrily, knowing none of this was my fault.

"I am a single female; if I want to dance with a guy in a bar, I should be allowed to without fearing my crazy ex-husband will castrate him!" I snapped harshly; Alec was my past, despite what his arrogant text said! Something I seemingly needed to remind him of.

Text: I AM NO ONES! Not yours! Not Hugo's, and if you think killing this guy will stop me from enjoying my life! You are mistaken! I will do what... and who... I damn well like!

Running my fingers over the phone, I lifted my blue hues to lock on Alec's; when confident he was watching me, I hit send, blowing him a kiss. I watched him read the message and then blocked his number, taking away his control in the only way I could.

"Yeah, because that's gonna solve the issue!" Ava snipped, sinking back into herself as fear ate at her insides. Seeing the cruel smirk that split Alec's face had my blood boiling as I realised this was clearly a game to him! I was a game, but then, I am pretty sure I always was.

Flipping him off, I turned and walked from the body lying on the table, leaving everyone around me to frantically run around, some rushing to get security, some throwing up in decorative planters, but most were sobbing! Being human, this type of brutality wasn't typical for them. Growing up in the Azure pack, with an alpha known for his cruelty, I had seen my fair share of executions, and if I am honest with myself, the body I left in my wake was just that—an execution.

"And we signed his death warrant!" Ava mumbled, overcome by guilt.

"No, Ava, we danced with a guy, that is all! That control freak killed him!" I growled as I stormed to the cloakroom, throwing my ticket at the assistant. I tapped my fingers impatiently as she rummaged for my stuff.

"Leaving so soon, little wolf." A deep voice breathed into my ear as fingers trailed up my arm to my hair, scooping it off the back of my neck and around my right shoulder.

"You didn't think my brother was the only one allowed to play with our new toy, did you?" My whole body tensed as the familiar icy sparks danced through my veins, freezing me to my core.

"Take your hands off me, Hugo, before I break them!" I snarl, clenching my teeth so hard I thought they might shatter, feeling him step into my back with a dismissive laugh, his hands snaking around my waist.

"Did you really think we wouldn't find you?" Ignoring my comment, he whispers into my ear before lips pressed to the nape of my neck, my fists balled at my sides, my knuckles turning white; slowly letting out the breath I didn't realise I was holding, I spun to face the dark eyes of Hugo, my once fiancee. There was so much I needed and wanted to yell at him, but something about the manic look in his eyes had me snapping my mouth shut.

"He is not the same Hugo we ran from Aurora. Step carefully!" Ava blubbers in a warning making me wince. She was correct; he reminds me of a documentary I had watched years ago about great white sharks and how they are one of the world's most dangerous predators. The show showed people going down in cages to the bottom of the ocean letting great whites stalk the cage before trying to attack the metal bars.

And now, looking into Hugo's eyes, he had the same thirst for blood that great white had had in the show! The spine-chilling knowledge was that unlike the great white, the blood Hugo evidently craved, was mine! Undoubtedly, something evil had corrupted him; whatever it was, it had destroyed any shred of decency and goodness that may once upon a time have been hiding beneath the surface. It was infecting him from the inside and twisting up his reality. To outsiders, I am sure he appeared the same Hugo I had left behind with my marriage rejection! But to me- he seemed almost feral, not too different from one of the world's most deadly predators!

I needed to get away; bringing my knee up, I smacked it straight into his groin as hard as I could muster. Smirking, pleased with myself, eyeing him bending at the waist, agony rippling through his dark features; the deranged noise that burst from his lips had me chuckling triumphantly.

"Did I say you could touch me?" I barked, his eyes turning a deep yellow as they narrowed on me, letting me know his wolf was watching;

"No, I didn't! And nor would I! EVER!" I added with disgust looking over his dark features, tanned skin, ocean blues and panty-dropping smile I knew had girls falling over themselves to get his attention! But I knew better than to fall for his good looks; he was pure poison wrapped in the prettiest of disguises.

"You sicken me!" I snarled, sucking in a breath seeing his eyes shine with the glimmers of his wolf. I could have sworn I saw amusement swimming in the golden hues.

"Do you have a death wish!" Ava whined with apprehension; no one would have dared challenge Hugo before I left; he was an unpredictable force that thrived on tormenting everyone around him, making everyone nervous, including his brother. However, that Hugo was from years ago, and it seemed the brothers had transformed; the sweet Alec I had fallen in love with was cruel and unforgiving, and Hugo was beyond saving!

I had changed, too; I had been forced to, thanks to the deranged man in front of me and his psychotic brother and my ex-husband. Nodding to the assistant, she threw me my coat and bag, clearly not wanting to approach the male vibrating with hate. Nodding my thanks to her, I scuttled from the club without a backwards glance.

As soon as I stepped out into the cool morning air, I felt the tears threaten to spill from my eyes; I had too much pride to cry in front of the prying eyes of those in the line for V's. A line that even at this time stalked down the street, tonight it buzzed with chatter as it was held up by the death of an innocent and the crazy events that followed.

"Don't you dare let him see you break! You know they will have someone watching you!" Ava demanded, making my back straighten; she was right; Alec always was possessive over what he claimed was his! And apparently, I now fell into that category. Walking off with my head held high, I decided to take the longer route to give myself a chance to calm down.

"You don't think they will follow, do you?" I asked Ava as we cut into the woods, but before she could answer, I heard the snap from behind me, pausing. It only took a second for me to see the shadow in the darkness.

"Bastard!" I gasped as it lunged at me, knocking me to my ass, my head colliding with the thick mossy-covered rocks, my body twisting onto the ground; I landed so hard I thought I had cracked my skull. Blinking softly, trying to focus my vision to no avail, the last thing I remembered before it all went blank was a face appearing before me, a wicked smile on his face as he ran his tongue over his bottom lips.

"You?" I groaned before the blackness swallowed me up, and my eyes succumbed to the darkness and closed.

Alec POV "Are you sure this is where she lives?" Hugo's revolted voice cut through the stale air of Aurora's room. "This place is a dump!" He huffed, walking around her room while looking at it with the same disgust he would a rednecks trailer park. I shifted my attention from Hugo to two of my pack members installing small hidden cameras around Aurora's room. I noted the look they were giving each other as they shifted some of her belongings from the top of her dresser to provide them better footing. They, too, had the same disgusted look as my brother. "Problem?" I asked, trying to keep the irritation from my voice as they turned to look at me; Ian, the older of the pair, had worked for my father before me and knew better than to question my commands, but his partner was reasonably new. I could see the question bubbling on his tongue. He was desperate to understand why we were here! "Hugo is right. This place is a dump. One of these cameras is worth more than everything in this

Aurora POV "What the fuck?" I groaned, bringing my hand up to my pounding head, blood coating my fingers as I ran them over my scalp, wincing at a nearly healed cut that was making my hair sticky and forcing it to matt between my fingers. I had been jumped; I remember that. The last image I had before I gave into the darkness was the filthy face of the vampire from the bar! His face blurred in front of my vision before my eyes closed. The snarl on his lips and hatred in his eyes as he charged me had sealed this night's fate to sit at the top ten worst nights of all time! Pulling myself up, I looked around the now-empty forest in confusion; everyone knew vampires never left their prey! So why had he jumped me and not hurt me, or was I missing something? "Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth Aurora!" Ava barked at me, lending me strength as I forced myself onto my feet, my legs wobbling under the strain of my achy body. Gasping, I looked around me; the ground was painted in vibra

Alec POV "Sir, I... I..." Marcus stuttered nervously, causing me to roll my eyes. Shooting Hugo a look that said 'humans,' I waited for him to spit out the rest of his sentence. "I... I em... Em" My patience snapping; I gripped the phone to my ear tighter, trying desperately to keep my temper under control. My eyes scanned Hugo, who had leant in closer to hear whatever Marcus had to say, evidently getting as nervous as me by his call. We had known Ava would have picked up on the scent of wolves hanging around the bar, even if we had called in a favour from a boarding pack and asked them to watch over her. So, we decided to hire a human security crew after hearing about the attack on Aurora in the woods. Although my pack had squashed the threat and made a very clear example of the filthy vampire, Hugo and I refused to risk any further harm coming to Aurora, the pair of us agreeing that the only people to make our lives hell would be us! The only downfall to hiring a human securi

Alec POV Gripping my stiff member with a throaty moan, my fingers unable to close around the girth, the head sticking up well above my fist, plenty of shaft still exposed and throbbing beyond my firm hold. "See the effect you still have on me, kitty!" I moaned mindlessly, beginning to pump my hand, providing relief to the aching throb threatening to tear my cock apart as I watched Aurora lift off the wall and scream before storming to the bathroom. "Fuck!" I snarled, not wanting to miss a second of her; I let go of my cock for a moment and flicked the camera to those we had set up in the bathroom and watched as she stripped off her little crop top that barely covered her beautiful tits, a groan escaped my lips as her tits bounced free. Her tight pink nipples were already hard. She had always got off on fear and anger; I had lost count of how many times our fights had turned into mind-blowing sex. Sitting back in my chair, my eyes trailed over the screen, watching as she discarded

Aurora POV Feeling the late morning sun lick at my bareback, I groaned as I stretched my aching bones out. Searching along the hardwood floor for the pillow I knew I had gone to sleep with; I sighed as images of the night before danced across my memory. I had trashed my room in a fit of rage, too stubborn to tidy up and put my bed back. I had fallen asleep on the floor with nothing but my blanket and pillow, which I had seemingly lunged across the room during the night, taking my bad mood into my slumberland. "That explains the stiff back!" I mumbled, flipping over onto it with a moan. "You know you will have to clean this shit up, right?" Ava sassed with amusement. "Ugh!" I screamed, kicking my legs and banging my fists at my side like a child who had just been told it was bedtime. "What are you six? Get your ass up and sort this shit out before Ollie gets back! You know he will freak if he sees this mess!" She groaned, but I could hear the concern in her voice. "Did you hear hi

Alec POV "How long will this take, officer?" I asked dryly, trying to keep the irritation from my voice as I checked my watch for the third time since I had entered this filthy room that they used for interrogating humans. I could see the male on the other side of the one-way mirror in his cheap suit, his pot belly bursting the seams of the nasty fabric, as he stuffed another pastry in his mouth. "Greedy bastard!" Wrath scoffed, watching with me as he shovelled it in his mouth like it was to be his last meal. He was in his early 50s, sporting a receding hairline and dead eyes that I could only imagine were from seeing far too much evil in this world. "Funny how we have been dragged into this room, meant to instil fear and panic, yet here we are intimidating this lazy fuck so much he stinks of piss and B.O!" I concluded, looking into the mirror and past my reflection; on the other side of the one-way mirror, he stood licking his fingers of the sugar as he observed me; like the male

Hugo POV "We should be in there with him, not out here watching the door like a fucking mall security guard!" I snarled at my wolf, Fury feeling him stir sleepily. I couldn't suppress the eye roll. "Sorry, am I disturbing you!" I snarled, irritated at my wolf's laziness. "I am sorry, not all of us can survive on caffeine and sex!" He snapped, stretching out in the back of my mind! "Some of us need actual sleep to recharge our damn batteries!" He added grumpily. "Pussy!" I scoffed, shifting my attention to watch the small group walk towards the police station; given their expensive suits and bound leather briefcases, I suspected they were lawyers here to try and get some toff off the hook for a crime they most likely committed. At the back of the herd, a slim brunette with dark skin and even darker eyes smiled at me mindlessly as her dark honeyed gaze found me, licking her lips subconsciously spotting my expensive Prada shirt and Rolex. "Ha! She is only interested in your money

Alec POV: Watching Violet walk down the hall, sashaying her hips deliberately, I pondered Wrath's question; I imagine Violet was beautiful before she was turned into a blood-sucking vampire! Her pale skin and large eyes complimented by her ebony hair, enough to turn any male's head. "Dark hair, pale skin and big eyes.. sounds like your type!" Wrath scoffed. "You forget the part about her being a blood-sucking, entitled piece of shit who thinks she can tell me what to do!" "I bet the sex is good, though!" Wrath grunted, watching Violet disappear into a room down the hall; I chuckled and agreed with him inwardly. Turning and walking through the station, I took in the group of lawyers huddled around by the door getting an ear full from an older guy who, judging by the stench of fear coming off the group, was their boss. Signing out, I noted their expensive suits; although nowhere near as expensive as mine, still it would have cost a couple of grand. Which meant they clearly repr

I soothed myself repeatedly, feeling his hands move up my calves and pull her knees up. I kept my eyes fixed on the ceiling and attempted to will myself out of my body. "C..c..can we just get this o..over with. Please," I stammered, my throat dry. Maxwell lifted his head up and looked at me over my body, his eyes alive with a fire I didn't feel comfortable with. "You don't want me to enter you dry, do you?" With that, he reached down between my parted thighs and cupped my mound. "Or are you already wet?" My mouth desperate for saliva, I simply shook my head in answer. "Then I need to make you a little wet, so I don't hurt either of us. I could spit on the e

Looking over at Violet, my stomach dropped, seeing the sick smile plastered on her lips. "You're enjoying this!" I growled, and her lips pulled into an even wider smile. "Seeing the bitch that caused absolute chaos get her comeuppance? Absolutely!" She snarled nastily. Looking back at Maxwell, I shook my head of the tears I felt falling from my eyes, hoping to play on his emotions. "I want a blowjob and a fuck!" He declared unashamedly. There it was- His terms! Aurora POVStretching out across the softest of beds, my body ached almost as severely as my head throbbed. Opening my eyes slowly, I allowed them to adjust to the bright lights of the sterile room. I was alone, and judging by the goose pimples that had broken out along my stomach, I was naked. "Ava?" I called out to my wolf, feeling alone inside my own head."Ava?" I asked again as I lay back on the plush mattress. I sighed as I realised whatever was making me groggy, was also affecting my wolf.Closing my eyes as I rubbed at my temples and tried to recall where I was or how I had gotten here, but I came up blank, except for the image of my reflection and chains. Something that seemed oddly familiar yet foreign to me. "A baby changes everything!" I heard a female voice snap from somewhere close by. Moving my legs slowly, not wanting to make any noise, I pushed off the bed. Regretting it the second my legs touched the floor, they felt hollow and utterly useless. Gripping the nearby

Alec POVWe continued the next few hours in silence until we reached large gates that made ours look like child's play. I watched Jason's eyes gloss over as he communicated with his pack, and the doors opened. "Very fancy!" James scoffed as we followed the winding trail up to a large gothic-inspired castle that wrapped around acres of land. He wasn't wrong, this place was fancy! Which made no sense; why would Maxwell go after my pack when he had something so grand at home? Parking outside the entrance, I took a deep breath and hoped we would leave here with the answers we all needed. "Mother!" Jason beamed as a middle-aged woman stepped from the doors, her arms wide as they enveloped him. Her tanned skin and dark hair flowed freely in the light wind as her gigantic son swallowed her tiny frame in a bear hug. A smile split my face, seeing him scoop her up and spin her around, hugging her tightly, not caring that we all stood around watching. "Mother, meet Alpha Azure.." I offer a cu

I roared, slamming my fist into a nearby wall, the plasterboard shattering under the force, causing rubble to slide down the wall and coat my hands. "Ex-wife!" James corrected me. The fucker was truly starting to get on my nerves, but I ignored him, reminding myself that he was my oldest friend and instead looked at the destruction I had caused with a sigh. It wasn't the first hole I had made in the walls of my office over the last few days, and I doubt it would be the last. Frustration ate at me with each passing day, knowing that Aurora and Hugo were slipping further and further from me. Luke had given us a name: Maxwell! It didn't take much to get information from the pair once Jason heard his father's name slip from our prisoner's mouth. I had thought James was brutal when it came to torture, but it seemed I had underestimated Jason entirely. We now knew Maxwell headed the traf

Hugo POV--Ten days later--"How much wolfsbane did you give him?" I heard Violet's panicked voice bounce around the bare walls of my prison cell. I fought the urge to smile. I had purposely remained still all day and worked to slow my breathing right down. Even when the bastard took that whip to my back again to wake me, I refused to make a sound; I just let my body rock back and forth from the impact. It wasn't easy, when all I wanted to do was rip their inners out through their nostrils. But there was more at stake than revenge! I daren't risk a glance at the blacked glass panel, knowing whatever I saw through that window may push me over the edge and ruin my plan. Over the last ten days I had watched them pull enough fingernails and toenails off Aurora to destroy that particular method of torture for me. The joy he took in stripping her naked to humiliate her and aggravate me in any other circumstances would have led to me removing his dead, dull eyes; lucky for him, the chains k

James gagged mockingly, making me chuckle."Let's change that!" I smirked. Opening their cell, I walked in with James close by, both of us stepping over the shit and discarded clothes. Usually, I avoided such filth. My suits cost more than most people earn in a year, and until Aurora arrived, my appearance was the only thing that gave me joy. "Do you remember that time your father kept those guys down here so long he forgot about them?" James asked, unlocking the chains behind the pair, the heavy metal clinking as it hit the floor, the sound making our human guest in front of James jump. Like the pussy he was!"The whole packhouse stunk of rotten eggs, but we couldn't work out why until we came down here to do something and found them in a cell." He laughed, gripping the human male by his hair; he pulled him from the cell wit

Alec POVStaring at the pyres as the flames consumed our dead and carried them off, I felt my jaw ache from how tightly I had it clenched. My mind was swirling with the events of the last few hours. It felt surreal that I was currently saying goodbye to a handful of my pack members after a demonic attack on my pack. I had heard of these kinds of things happening occasionally throughout history, but never would I have thought that we would be on the receiving end of it. "Here, man." A deeply set voice offered from beside me, placing a cell phone in my hand. "It's all set up, the same number as before, just in case your brother reaches out." James remarked, handing me an opened bottle of beer with a nod."I don't want this!" "I never said you did, but fuck knows you need it. You are giving off mega approach me and die vibes!" Hugo POVI had never been squeamish when it came to blood, but I guess when you spend a large part of your life shifting into a werewolf or torturing those who displease you, it made no sense to be scared of the stuff. I couldn't exactly be the Beta if I passed out every time I got a damn paper cut. But something about the way I was watching blood slide down Aurora's porcelain throat as she paled had me feeling weak-kneed and sick to my stomach. Her words would haunt me for as long as I lived, and I hoped that wouldn't be long because the idea of a world without her in it again was too unfathomable to bear. Plus, having to tell Alec I had let her get killed broke my heart just as much as watching her face slowly pale. Those rosy cheeks turned purple as her eyes closed; I could only imagine the way her heart pumped viciously, trying to get blood around her body for this fucker to drain it. Her arms seemed to relax into the chains, and her body slumped forward; he was killing her; that
