Mane was forced to retreat after the attack. Although he had successfully warded of Tucker's saber, the force of the strike had knocked him backwards. The first thing Alucard did when he was overwhelmed with Bloodlust was to shoot a large fireball at Mane. However, flames of such caliber had no effect on Mane. His flames were much stronger, and his blood easily absorbed the fire energy, using it to refuel what had been lost. Mane absorbed the fire as quickly as it appeared, and that was why Alucard transitioned to using his aura blades. Although his mind had been overrun by animal-like instincts, he knew when to call an ineffective strategy quits. "Ugh" Alucard grabbed his throbbing head and slowly opened his eyes. His head felt heavy, ans there was an ever present pain on one side of this neck. "Was I hit by a ton of bricks or what?"
