Heath's POV
I've been at the airport for two hours. I waited patiently for the arrival of Miss Shiloh Hansen. I left Arcadia Valley at five o'clock in the afternoon because I needed to be in Brisbane before the plane they boarded landed. I arrived at the airport at two in the morning. In these two hours waiting for the arrival of Miss Hansen, I took a chance to take a nap so I would have the energy for another nine-hour drive later.
The moment I heard the coming airplane, I stood up from the seat I was seated in and went to the arrival area. It will only take thirty minutes or less, and all passengers will be coming out.I could recognize her anywhere, even if I saw her in person. The pictures I have in my hand will help. I have different pictures of her. In different shots, she wears different clothes and is in different places. I memorized her face from all different angles. She's beautiful, but sorry, I needed her for her father's debt. She's the payment for it.
I could see them from the place where I was standing. She is with her nanny; she has been with her since she left their mansion. Another identification is that she is the Shiloh I was waiting for. Some photos were sent to me along with her nanny. And besides, I have seen her nanny a long time ago. Maybe she gets older, but nothing much has changed in her features. Same body, same face, same color. Her nanny, a beautiful African American, is, if he is not mistaken. I noticed that they went to the customer service area, but they were pointed to the store counter. Why? I watch them from afar. I noticed that her nanny had no luggage in tow after that little conversation at the store counter. She hugs Shiloh; then she turns and leaves. Where is she going? Why does she have to leave her ward? As far as I know, they never parted. Not even once. What's that supposed to mean? I am wondering about this nanny and the woman parting ways. I could see that Shiloh was pulling her luggage; she was looking around; it seemed like she was scanning the place. I could see that she was walking to a bench. So, she's looking for a seat to stay, I thought. This is my chance. With quick, long strides, I move towards her direction. We reach the bench at the same time. We both sit down at the same time too. She looks at me questioningly but doesn't voice why I sit on the same bench when there are many vacant seats, as I interpret it. "Follow me, Miss Shiloh," I whisper.I could feel when she jerked. She stares at me with that same piercing eye from fifteen years ago.
"I don't know you, Mister. Don't try to scare me; I'm not scared of you," she said through gritted teeth. "Really? Don't try to make any moves that attract people's attention, or you'll," I pushed the knife a little harder in her side, "have a faucet in your side."She looks up, tensed and horrified.
"What do you want? I don't have much money with me, but if you could follow me to the ATM, I will withdraw some for you," she said in her quivering voice. She is paler in her already pale skin.
"I don't need your money, Señorita. I just want you," I said and took off my jacket and wore it to her so that no one would notice what's in my hand.I pull her up.
"Stand up and go with me. Don't create any commotion, or I will do what I said. Hug me like we're a couple. And walk naturally," I said, taking her right hand and placing it on my waist. While my left hand with a knife is in her waist and my right is pulling her luggage. In the eyes of the people who see them, they're a normal loving couple. It could be interpreted that I picked her up from the airport after her traveling. I could feel her soft body pressed against my side. She was shaking, but I didn't care; all I wanted was to get away from the airport back to Arcadia.I guide her down to the basement where I parked the black van.
We reach the parking van. I opened the sliding door and put her luggage in the back seat. I opened the front door and asked her to get in. "Get in!" I order her.She follows. When she was seated, I put on the seatbelt for her. And I get a padlock from the compartment and lock her seatbelt. I made a hole in the buckle yesterday when I received a call that she was coming home with her nanny.
Her shocked eyes glared at me, but she never said anything. "I just want to make sure you can't run away from me," I said emotionlessly. Then I went to the driver's seat and started the engine. I realize that her hands are free; she can do something that possibly causes them harm. I take out my handkerchief and tie her hands connected to the buckle. She protested, but I am stronger than her. Even if she screamed, no one would hear her. The van is closed, and the air conditioning is in full. After I tied her hands, I put back my jacket to cover her. Satisfied with her position. I step on the accelerator and drive out from the basement parking lot to the wide road. It will be another nine-hour drive. That's why I didn't waste an opportunity to take a nap when I arrived earlier at the airport. I needed it for this long drive. I brought more than enough water, some biscuits and candies, and even chewing gum; I needed something to chew on to keep me awake. And even this van I pumped it full tank before I entered the airport area. The next refill will take more than half of their journey. I glanced at her side. I know she's thinking about how she could ask for help. She is just waiting for the opportunity. I bet she will scream later at the gas station. But I will never let that happen. I waited patiently for this moment to come. This waiting has become a part of my life. For fifteen years, I have been praying for our paths to cross. And this is the answer to my prayer.Shiloh's POV Many women claimed that women have stronger intuition than men. I never believed it, though. Today I felt it, but I ignored it. Now I'm in this vehicle with this heartless man, all tied up. If I'm going to scream, no one is going to hear her. And I won't waste my energy on such a stupid thing. What if this man is going to kill her if I make any mistake? I will save her energy. We have been on the road for many hours now. I will wait until we need to refill the gas. For sure the vehicle needs gasoline. He glanced at me from time to time, but I didn't care. I mustn't give him the impression that I am afraid. I am almost twenty-eight now. I will never cry in front of him either and beg him to let me go. I felt that the car had come to a halt; I looked up. It's a gasoline station. This is my chance. I will scream for help. When I saw that he was opening the door. I screamed for help. He closed it again and turned to me. He grabbed me and kissed me hard. "No one is
Heath's POV I'm not a heartless human being; I just don't show emotion. I mastered it for ten years. But I could sense how people feel. And I could tell how she laughed at the mention of her father's name. It's full of bitterness. But why? As far as I know, her father sent her to Paris for a better future. Well, that's what parents should do. After I put down her luggage, I entered my room to get changed. I will take a shower as well. She cannot escape from this house any way he thought. The doors and windows are equipped with alarms. I will get her first before she can ever step out of the house. I grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I have been outside for long hours. I used to be out but not in the city. I drove nine hours going to Brisbane, plus nine hours back. After I was done showering and changed into my clean clothes, I went downstairs. I try to find something to eat and scan the fridge to see what they can have for dinner. I already packed the f
Shiloh's POV I'm very tired and exhausted. Seems that all my energy was drained. Not from the traveling but from controlling myself from anger. The moment I entered the room, I closed the door and let go of the cry that I was holding downstairs, in front of Mr. Heartless. I covered my mouth with the pillow I saw on the bed so he could not hear my sob. I don't know how long I have been crying. But when I finally calmed down, I opened my suitcase and took a set of clean clothes, my undergarments, and my toiletries. I put down my clothes on the bed and went into the bathroom. I need to clean myself up. Aside from the dust, though the aircon was on when they entered, that seemed to be country roads; he turned off the aircon and opened the windows. I look around to see if there are some people, but there are none. I wanted to clean my sticky face. Sticky from tears and runny nose. I entered the bathroom to take a shower. My reflection in the mirror shocks me. My eyes are red and
Theresa's POVI am now boarded on the plane back to Paris. I am thankful that all goes well when I enter the Madrigal mansion. I prayed harder today while on my way to the Gold Coast, where the Madrigal mansion is located.I took an air train to Gold Coast. I'm lucky to have a chance to catch that train because the next departure will be in another thirty minutes. It only took ninety minutes to get to the Gold Coast train depot, and then I took a taxi from there to Madrigal mansion. My hands were shaking when I pressed the doorbell. Someone peeped in the security hole and let me in."Theresa!?" The woman hugged me."Dana!" I hugged her back. "I just came to get Miss Shiloh's box in her room. Is Mr. Hansen in?""No, he went for a business meeting out of the country; that's what I heard. Come in," said Dana and guided me in. I look around to see if there are any changes in this mansion. I noticed that there's nothing I could remember."Great! I'll go up and take what I need. I need to
Claire's POVI was intrigued by the information Theresa had told me. It's odd. What mystery is there in the relationship between father and daughter? Why did Mr. Hansen never hold her daughter or even get close to her? Seems like she's not his own blood and flesh.I know that even if the father is strict, he will still show some affection to his child.I checked my watch. It's only five o'clock in the afternoon in Australia. Whether he's in the ranch or at home, it doesn't matter. I opened my computer and typed a message. She hasn't come back with her nanny, Theresa; according to Theresa, she has changed her mind. She said that she doesn't want to see her father anymore. She's afraid that he might be very furious for disobeying his rules. So instead she sent Theresa to get a box in her room in their mansion. Theresa told me that the box contains photographs with her mother. But I'm puzzled with the gift her mother told her that she put in the box instead of giving to her. I will see if
Heath's POI woke up early because I slept early last night. It's only six in the morning. While the woman is still sleeping, I decided to have a round in the ranch first. Besides, even if I'm gone, she can't escape from the area. She has no way to ask for help either. I took her handbag yesterday when we were on our way. The house has no telephone service. I already cut the line. In case she found my computer, she can't open it because there are multiple passwords.I went downstairs and went straight to the kitchen and made my coffee. After drinking and cleaning my cup, I went to the barn where my horse is. I took my horse from the barn a few steps away from the shelter. My horse, and I named it Shadow because of the midnight black color of it."Good morning, Shadow. I miss you, boy. Did you miss me?" I said to the horse, patting it in the face."Neigh," that's all Shadow's response.I smiled and took the saddle and put it on Shadow's back."We will do some rounds today. I wasn't her
Heath's POVAfter I sent my reply to Claire, I remained seated at the dining table. What could it be behind the gift? I can't wait to know what's in it.After a while I stood up; I need to cook. I was thinking of what food I can cook faster. I checked the cupboards and decided to just have a pasta. It will be fine. If it's not enough, they could have some fruits; they have plenty of it.While preparing to cook, I heard footsteps coming down. She's awake; a moment later I heard her in the kitchen."Excuse me, have you found my handbag?" She asked. I didn't look at her. "Please, if you have seen it, can I have it? I want to call Theresa; it's very important," she said pleadingly.I looked at her."Why do you need to call Theresa?" I asked her.I could see that she's irritated."I need to know if she---" She hesitated to continue."As I said, it's important," she continued."Why? Where is she that you need to call her?" I asked her."I don't know. How will I know? I haven't contacted h
Shiloh's POVThe sound of galloping horses wakes me up. I got up and walked towards the window and parted the curtain. I saw a man riding a horse leaving from the backyard. I followed where he is going. There's a road at the back of this house. I looked far away; I could see from afar that there's some kind of village. I'm not sure because it's too far. But I think there are people over there. Maybe a market, a store, or some establishment. That means I can go there. I try to get some help. I stand back and turn to find my handbag. I need to call Theresa. I wanted to know if she manages to get in the mansion and find the box. There's no handbag in the room. I opened my suitcase; maybe I forgot that I put it inside. But there's no handbag in my suitcase either. I went downstairs; maybe I left it there.No. I couldn't find it anywhere. I am getting frustrated. Did I leave it in the van? I was troubled the other day, and I forgot about my handbag. All my important things are in there. H
**Shiloh's POV**After six more months, finally, it will be our moment.Dad wanted to give me a princess-like wedding because I'm the only child."You only married once, and I want it to be beautiful; you're my only daughter," Dad told me."Dad, I'm already our big girl, so instead of throwing money for that kind of wedding, we could save that for the rainy days," I replied, smiling at him."What can I say? You grew up independent; you knew the importance of saving up rather than spending," Dad replied.Dad was right; I didn't have enough growing up; the money that Hansen sent was just enough. He never sent extra money in case of additional expenses, so I learned to work part-time jobs to earn extra money."The quality strength of a relationship can't be measured by a lavish wedding, Daddy, I know, and I feel that Heath and I will succeed because we both went through hardships," I said."I won't object to you anymor
**Shiloh's POV**It's supposed to be the parents walking their son or daughter down the aisle, but today, it's the other way around.I am walking my dad down the aisle towards the altar to wait for his bride. With his tuxedo, he's a very handsome fifty-seven-year-old man. If we stayed in the city and Dad roamed around, I'm sure many women in his age would be gawking at him.Why did I say that? Because I heard some of the ranch guests who happened to witness this special occasion. When we reached the altar, I stood with Dad. I could see his happy face while we waited for Theresa."Thank you!" he said, looking at me."You're welcome, Dad," I replied.A moment later, here comes the bride in a fashionable entrance. She wore her white wedding gown. I never thought that my nanny was really beautiful when she put on some makeup that enhanced her beauty and wore a beautiful white dress. Her gown hugged her perfect c
**Heath POV**I agree with Shiloh's priorities right now. We have all the life ahead of us together; for now, we have to put all in place firstSince the M&B Creek Ranch is doing well. The Madrigal Building is fifty percent completed. We will make sure that Dad will have someone by his side. That will be Theresa.Daddy Charles didn't oppose when we suggested that he should marry Theresa. Then our next move is to talk to Theresa."Sweetheart, what do you think of talking to Theresa to marry Dad?" I asked Shiloh while we were outside the house."I'll talk to her; it's okay with Dad, right? Maybe both of them can have a life together. It's not too late to enjoy life," she replied."That's true. They both deserve happiness like Jethro and Claire," I said."Thank you for yoursupport for this family. Thank you for your patience," Shiloh said."Sweetheart, without this family I may be still in jail. I owe my life to this fam

Heath gave his house to his uncle and now his aunt Claire. While Heath and I moved back to Arcadia with Daddy. Of course, Theresa will always be with us.We haven't decided yet when we are going to have our wedding. My focus right now is to help my dad restore his strength. For about six months we have been together. Dad gained weight; his color is also back. And of course, the still gorgeous fifty-seven-year-old man walking on the planet Earth. The image of a real successful businessman from Australia. The fame he had thirty years ago is now back. The ultimate and handsome rancher, Charles Madrigal, is back.My dad and Heath became very close after a few months of being together at the ranch; they always talked about innovations to make our ranch stand out.For six months, the M&B Creek Ranch launched additional activ
**Claire's POVI just noticed that I'm getting older; I didn't notice the passage of time anymore. And now that I've achieved my dream of searching for my long-lost family, I've seen my brother and my niece. I'm happy now."Claire, what are you thinking?" Jethro asked."I'm getting old for the search of my family; I didn't notice it." I suddenly laughed at what I said."No, you're not old, only wise. We never age; we mature. Your long search has been accomplished, and I think you have to reward yourself for a job well done," he replied."I already have rewards, my brother and my niece," I replied."I know, but Shiloh will be going to settle soon. Can't you see how they were together?" he said."Yes, they are perfect for each other, actually," I replied."Do you think I will be perfect for you too?" he asked. It caught me off guard. I never thought he would say that."Claire, since the day we wo
**Shiloh's POV**After reading the verdict for Damien Hansen, all of us congratulated each other since all of us deserved it. We are all the victims of the evil deed of Damien Hansen."Congratulations, Daddy!" I greeted my father when his ex-friend was finally sentenced to life imprisonment."Thank you, sweetheart," he replied.I wiped my father's tears that escaped from his eyes."I know we can't get back the moments that were stolen from us, but we can still have a happy and loving relationship. We are surrounded by people who love and care about us," I said."You're right; he only stole our freedom from us, not our whole being, and most of all our values and our faith in God," his dad replied."You're right, Daddy, the Lord is kind and has guided us for a long time," I said."Let's go, Big Brother, Shiloh," Claire invited us."Where are we going?" her dad asked his sister."Let's go find somepla
Heath's POVWe are finally reached in my own home. This is my first time coming home after fifteen years. I miss my home but because of my parents passing, I can't stay here. It will only make me sad. I choose to stay in the ranch instead after my parole has been granted. This home has many wonderful memories of my parents.Uncle Jethro helped me maintain the house; according to him, the time would come when I would come home. Uncle Jett was right. Now we are all in our house. I inherited this from my parents. Since I'm the only child. When Uncle Jethro resigned from his work, he stayed in this house since I was in prison, serving a sentence for a crime I never committed.
**Claire's POV**"Did Heath reply to your message?" asked Theresa."I haven't checked, but I'm sure he received it," I replied."We will be going to board soon. I think we better go to the boarding gate," Theresa reminded me."You're right; we better go there. Let's go," I said.We walked over to the boarding gate of the aircraft we're going to board. Waiting for the announcement for boarding, we have to find our seats.Time flies and the aircraft we boarded has touched down on the runway of the Australian airport. In less than two hours, I'm going to see my brother. My palms are sweating and itching. I couldn't explain my feeling right now—a feeling of excitement."Relax, Claire. We will run to the immigration office, okay?" Theresa said, smiling.I also could feel that, like me, she's excited to meet Shiloh."Look who's giving me the advice to relax," I replied, smiling. When th
**Heath's POV**I was overwhelmed when Charles Madrigal told me to call him Daddy. I miss my own father and the word Daddy is too precious for me. I was wrong when I told Shiloh that his father would not be coming back. Well, maybe not my own father in flesh but Shiloh's father is as gentle as my own father.I love what I am doing with him. Serving him gives me joy. I'm excited to see his transformation. So when he asked if I could cut his beard. I run to the nurse's station and ask for scissors and a razor blade. He asked too if they have an extra toothbrush for our dad. I'm already planning to shop his things as soon as we are fine to go out.I cut his beard very gently; I don't want to hurt him. I leave on
