Shiloh's POV
Years passed by without noticing it.I'm no longer a thirteen-year-old girl who was always afraid of my father. I grew up. I finished my studies. I also have my own established life in Paris.
All my life in Paris, I never saw my father's face.He never tried to visit me.
It's hurt, but I kept it all to myself.
He called, yes, but never asked how I was doing. He only called to tell me that he sent me an allowance. He never failed to pay all my school fees. He cared for my studies but never cared for me. "Theresa, are you going home with me, or are you staying here?" I ask my nanny. Theresa is my ever-loyal nanny, who remained single because her boyfriend dumped her when she agreed to go with me to Paris. I could see the fear in Theresa's eyes when I mentioned to her that we were going home. "You know very well that your father will be very angry when he knows your plan of going home," Theresa reminds me. "I know that, Theresa, but that was before. I'm not a small little girl anymore. I'm not afraid of him," I replied. Determined. "I have no one to see in Australia anymore, Shiloh. I have no family," Theresa said. "But you have me, Theresa. I'm your family. I have no family too. The family that I have is only by name, not in the sense of being a family. My father doesn't want me. Because if he did, he would let me come home or even give me time to visit. But for fifteen years, Theresa, I never saw even his shadow." I said, full of hurt. "Okay, I'll go home with you. But how about your office here?" Theresa asks. "Claire will manage that," I replied.I'm talking about my assistant. I had talked to her already about taking a vacation.
"Okay then. When are we going?" Theresa asks. "The day after tomorrow. I will finish the last project, and we will leave," I replied. "Okay." Theresa agrees. I'm an interior designer. I have many well-known clients, and it's doing good. I'm not sure if my dad knows that I have it. But who cares? Her father doesn't care at all. We are now boarding the plane with Theresa. I have this unexplainable feeling about my decision to come back home. I couldn't pinpoint it, but I could feel it. There's something that is going to happen. Hope it's not bad, I thought. "Shiloh, you're agitated. Are you alright?" Theresa asked me worriedly. "I'm fine, Theresa. Maybe it's because it's been fifteen years already. I don't know if I still can remember our place. I'm sure there are many changes in fifteen years," I said, brushing off what I felt. "For sure it has, but maybe your dad's mansion is still in the same estate where it was when we left," Theresa replied. "I don't have any idea about that. Daddy never mentioned anything about life. We never had our conversation," I said bitterly. "I understand. In case he moves to other places, where are we going?" Theresa asks worriedly. "Don't worry, Theresa, we have a place to stay. I'll make sure of that," she replied. When you have money, finding a place to stay is not a problem.
"Okay. We can go back again to Paris if in case, right?" Theresa asks. "Yes, Theresa, we can," I replied. Fifteen years ago I was in an invisible cage under my father's power. "If you want, when we land, I'll check out the mansion first. You can stay at the airport. I don't want you to get hurt. Your father may not harm you physically, but ignoring you is more painful than hitting you." Theresa pauses for a while. "Hundred percent sure that your father will be very angry when you show up." She continues. "I don't know, but I have this feeling that what happened to your mom many years ago, there's something wrong with it." She pauses, looking at me. "I'm just saying, at least if your father sees me, he will get angry, that's for sure, but he will not do anything about me." Theresa stops, maybe because I'm not talking. I could sense that Theresa was not happy with this abrupt decision I had made. She's like a mother to me since my mom died. She knows me inside out. "Thank you, Theresa. I think you're right. If anyone sees you at the mansion, you can tell them that you're there because I asked you to get something in my room," I said.I remembered all my things in my room. I asked Dad many times if he could bring her the red box that contained the photographs of me and Mom and also the gifts from my mother. He told me that he would be going to send them, but he never did. Right, this will be a good reason.
"You know that red velvet box in my wardrobe? I want you to get it for me. Dad knows how badly I want those." With a twinkling hope in my eyes. "Yes. I know that box. It's the photographs of the two of you and her gifts. Her last gift for your birthday hasn't been opened yet because we're forced to leave the house," Theresa supplied. "That's right. Mom had told me before I left for school that day that she put her gift for my thirteenth birthday in my box, but I didn't have a chance to check it because of that terrible thing that happened." She paused. "In case you've got a chance to get in the mansion if it is still there, never mention to anyone that I came with you. Just take the box. I've changed my mind, Theresa; I don't want Dad to know I came. I don't want to see him right now, not this time." I said, holding Theresa's hand. "Okay. So when we land, just stay at the airport," Theresa told her, looking into my eyes. "Okay. I'll wait for you at the airport. But in case you can't see me, don't stay at the airport; I'm afraid that Daddy will send an eye to check you out. Buy a ticket back to Paris." I pull out my wallet and give Theresa some cash.I had it changed into Australian dollars while we were still in Paris.
"Thank you! I'll get your box, and if I can't see you at the airport, I'll buy a ticket back to Paris." She repeats what I had just said. "That's right. So we're settled," I said in confirmation. "Are you going back to Paris?" Theresa asks. "Yes, but you don't need to go back with me," I replied. "Just make sure you'll be back," Theresa said. "I will," I replied. "Take care, Shiloh," Theresa said after a while. "You too, Theresa. Leave your luggage at the airport; that will be easier for you to move," I suggest to Theresa. "I've been thinking about that. Because if I have my luggage in tow, they won't believe I came for the box only," Theresa replied. "You're right." I agreed. When the plane touched down on the runway. We are both in silence. We both lost in our thoughts. When we finally came out from the airplane, we went to the immigration counter. I couldn't decide whether I needed to exit or stay inside and wait for Theresa. But if I won't exit, how can I enter again later? "Are you not going to move Shiloh?" Theresa wakes up my sleeping mind. "Yes, sorry. I was thinking I could wait for you here, but I still need to exit," I said. "I'll go now so I can come back immediately," Theresa said, walking towards the queue at the immigration counter. I followed through. Theresa walks directly to the conveyor for baggage claim and waits for her luggage after the immigration. I just stand beside her. When Theresa finally gets her luggage, she walks over to customer service to ask where she could store her luggage while doing an important errand. They give her directions to the luggage storage. She goes there, and after a while, she's good to go. "I'm off to go now." She looks at me. "Be careful, Theresa; I'll pray that you will get there in safety and will come out with my box," I said, hugging my loyal nanny. "I will. God will be with us," Theresa said, hugging me back. After Theresa left the airport, I walked towards the exit. I will find a place to sit. I am unsure if I will be going to wait for Theresa's or if I will go back to Paris as soon as possible.Heath's POVI've been at the airport for two hours. I waited patiently for the arrival of Miss Shiloh Hansen. I left Arcadia Valley at five o'clock in the afternoon because I needed to be in Brisbane before the plane they boarded landed. I arrived at the airport at two in the morning. In these two hours waiting for the arrival of Miss Hansen, I took a chance to take a nap so I would have the energy for another nine-hour drive later. The moment I heard the coming airplane, I stood up from the seat I was seated in and went to the arrival area. It will only take thirty minutes or less, and all passengers will be coming out.I could recognize her anywhere, even if I saw her in person. The pictures I have in my hand will help. I have different pictures of her. In different shots, she wears different clothes and is in different places. I memorized her face from all different angles. She's beautiful, but sorry, I needed her for her father's debt. She's the payment for it. I could see the
Shiloh's POV Many women claimed that women have stronger intuition than men. I never believed it, though. Today I felt it, but I ignored it. Now I'm in this vehicle with this heartless man, all tied up. If I'm going to scream, no one is going to hear her. And I won't waste my energy on such a stupid thing. What if this man is going to kill her if I make any mistake? I will save her energy. We have been on the road for many hours now. I will wait until we need to refill the gas. For sure the vehicle needs gasoline. He glanced at me from time to time, but I didn't care. I mustn't give him the impression that I am afraid. I am almost twenty-eight now. I will never cry in front of him either and beg him to let me go. I felt that the car had come to a halt; I looked up. It's a gasoline station. This is my chance. I will scream for help. When I saw that he was opening the door. I screamed for help. He closed it again and turned to me. He grabbed me and kissed me hard. "No one is
Heath's POV I'm not a heartless human being; I just don't show emotion. I mastered it for ten years. But I could sense how people feel. And I could tell how she laughed at the mention of her father's name. It's full of bitterness. But why? As far as I know, her father sent her to Paris for a better future. Well, that's what parents should do. After I put down her luggage, I entered my room to get changed. I will take a shower as well. She cannot escape from this house any way he thought. The doors and windows are equipped with alarms. I will get her first before she can ever step out of the house. I grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I have been outside for long hours. I used to be out but not in the city. I drove nine hours going to Brisbane, plus nine hours back. After I was done showering and changed into my clean clothes, I went downstairs. I try to find something to eat and scan the fridge to see what they can have for dinner. I already packed the f
Shiloh's POV I'm very tired and exhausted. Seems that all my energy was drained. Not from the traveling but from controlling myself from anger. The moment I entered the room, I closed the door and let go of the cry that I was holding downstairs, in front of Mr. Heartless. I covered my mouth with the pillow I saw on the bed so he could not hear my sob. I don't know how long I have been crying. But when I finally calmed down, I opened my suitcase and took a set of clean clothes, my undergarments, and my toiletries. I put down my clothes on the bed and went into the bathroom. I need to clean myself up. Aside from the dust, though the aircon was on when they entered, that seemed to be country roads; he turned off the aircon and opened the windows. I look around to see if there are some people, but there are none. I wanted to clean my sticky face. Sticky from tears and runny nose. I entered the bathroom to take a shower. My reflection in the mirror shocks me. My eyes are red and
Theresa's POVI am now boarded on the plane back to Paris. I am thankful that all goes well when I enter the Madrigal mansion. I prayed harder today while on my way to the Gold Coast, where the Madrigal mansion is located.I took an air train to Gold Coast. I'm lucky to have a chance to catch that train because the next departure will be in another thirty minutes. It only took ninety minutes to get to the Gold Coast train depot, and then I took a taxi from there to Madrigal mansion. My hands were shaking when I pressed the doorbell. Someone peeped in the security hole and let me in."Theresa!?" The woman hugged me."Dana!" I hugged her back. "I just came to get Miss Shiloh's box in her room. Is Mr. Hansen in?""No, he went for a business meeting out of the country; that's what I heard. Come in," said Dana and guided me in. I look around to see if there are any changes in this mansion. I noticed that there's nothing I could remember."Great! I'll go up and take what I need. I need to
Claire's POVI was intrigued by the information Theresa had told me. It's odd. What mystery is there in the relationship between father and daughter? Why did Mr. Hansen never hold her daughter or even get close to her? Seems like she's not his own blood and flesh.I know that even if the father is strict, he will still show some affection to his child.I checked my watch. It's only five o'clock in the afternoon in Australia. Whether he's in the ranch or at home, it doesn't matter. I opened my computer and typed a message. She hasn't come back with her nanny, Theresa; according to Theresa, she has changed her mind. She said that she doesn't want to see her father anymore. She's afraid that he might be very furious for disobeying his rules. So instead she sent Theresa to get a box in her room in their mansion. Theresa told me that the box contains photographs with her mother. But I'm puzzled with the gift her mother told her that she put in the box instead of giving to her. I will see if
Heath's POI woke up early because I slept early last night. It's only six in the morning. While the woman is still sleeping, I decided to have a round in the ranch first. Besides, even if I'm gone, she can't escape from the area. She has no way to ask for help either. I took her handbag yesterday when we were on our way. The house has no telephone service. I already cut the line. In case she found my computer, she can't open it because there are multiple passwords.I went downstairs and went straight to the kitchen and made my coffee. After drinking and cleaning my cup, I went to the barn where my horse is. I took my horse from the barn a few steps away from the shelter. My horse, and I named it Shadow because of the midnight black color of it."Good morning, Shadow. I miss you, boy. Did you miss me?" I said to the horse, patting it in the face."Neigh," that's all Shadow's response.I smiled and took the saddle and put it on Shadow's back."We will do some rounds today. I wasn't her
Heath's POVAfter I sent my reply to Claire, I remained seated at the dining table. What could it be behind the gift? I can't wait to know what's in it.After a while I stood up; I need to cook. I was thinking of what food I can cook faster. I checked the cupboards and decided to just have a pasta. It will be fine. If it's not enough, they could have some fruits; they have plenty of it.While preparing to cook, I heard footsteps coming down. She's awake; a moment later I heard her in the kitchen."Excuse me, have you found my handbag?" She asked. I didn't look at her. "Please, if you have seen it, can I have it? I want to call Theresa; it's very important," she said pleadingly.I looked at her."Why do you need to call Theresa?" I asked her.I could see that she's irritated."I need to know if she---" She hesitated to continue."As I said, it's important," she continued."Why? Where is she that you need to call her?" I asked her."I don't know. How will I know? I haven't contacted h
**Shiloh's POV**After six more months, finally, it will be our moment.Dad wanted to give me a princess-like wedding because I'm the only child."You only married once, and I want it to be beautiful; you're my only daughter," Dad told me."Dad, I'm already our big girl, so instead of throwing money for that kind of wedding, we could save that for the rainy days," I replied, smiling at him."What can I say? You grew up independent; you knew the importance of saving up rather than spending," Dad replied.Dad was right; I didn't have enough growing up; the money that Hansen sent was just enough. He never sent extra money in case of additional expenses, so I learned to work part-time jobs to earn extra money."The quality strength of a relationship can't be measured by a lavish wedding, Daddy, I know, and I feel that Heath and I will succeed because we both went through hardships," I said."I won't object to you anymor
**Shiloh's POV**It's supposed to be the parents walking their son or daughter down the aisle, but today, it's the other way around.I am walking my dad down the aisle towards the altar to wait for his bride. With his tuxedo, he's a very handsome fifty-seven-year-old man. If we stayed in the city and Dad roamed around, I'm sure many women in his age would be gawking at him.Why did I say that? Because I heard some of the ranch guests who happened to witness this special occasion. When we reached the altar, I stood with Dad. I could see his happy face while we waited for Theresa."Thank you!" he said, looking at me."You're welcome, Dad," I replied.A moment later, here comes the bride in a fashionable entrance. She wore her white wedding gown. I never thought that my nanny was really beautiful when she put on some makeup that enhanced her beauty and wore a beautiful white dress. Her gown hugged her perfect c
**Heath POV**I agree with Shiloh's priorities right now. We have all the life ahead of us together; for now, we have to put all in place firstSince the M&B Creek Ranch is doing well. The Madrigal Building is fifty percent completed. We will make sure that Dad will have someone by his side. That will be Theresa.Daddy Charles didn't oppose when we suggested that he should marry Theresa. Then our next move is to talk to Theresa."Sweetheart, what do you think of talking to Theresa to marry Dad?" I asked Shiloh while we were outside the house."I'll talk to her; it's okay with Dad, right? Maybe both of them can have a life together. It's not too late to enjoy life," she replied."That's true. They both deserve happiness like Jethro and Claire," I said."Thank you for yoursupport for this family. Thank you for your patience," Shiloh said."Sweetheart, without this family I may be still in jail. I owe my life to this fam
**Shiloh's POVAfter the wedding of Uncle Jethro and Aunt Claire, the newlywed couple decided to reside in Heath's home. Heath gave his house to his uncle and now his aunt Claire. While Heath and I moved back to Arcadia with Daddy. Of course, Theresa will always be with us.We haven't decided yet when we are going to have our wedding. My focus right now is to help my dad restore his strength. For about six months we have been together. Dad gained weight; his color is also back. And of course, the still gorgeous fifty-seven-year-old man walking on the planet Earth. The image of a real successful businessman from Australia. The fame he had thirty years ago is now back. The ultimate and handsome rancher, Charles Madrigal, is back.My dad and Heath became very close after a few months of being together at the ranch; they always talked about innovations to make our ranch stand out.For six months, the M&B Creek Ranch launched additional activ
**Claire's POVI just noticed that I'm getting older; I didn't notice the passage of time anymore. And now that I've achieved my dream of searching for my long-lost family, I've seen my brother and my niece. I'm happy now."Claire, what are you thinking?" Jethro asked."I'm getting old for the search of my family; I didn't notice it." I suddenly laughed at what I said."No, you're not old, only wise. We never age; we mature. Your long search has been accomplished, and I think you have to reward yourself for a job well done," he replied."I already have rewards, my brother and my niece," I replied."I know, but Shiloh will be going to settle soon. Can't you see how they were together?" he said."Yes, they are perfect for each other, actually," I replied."Do you think I will be perfect for you too?" he asked. It caught me off guard. I never thought he would say that."Claire, since the day we wo
**Shiloh's POV**After reading the verdict for Damien Hansen, all of us congratulated each other since all of us deserved it. We are all the victims of the evil deed of Damien Hansen."Congratulations, Daddy!" I greeted my father when his ex-friend was finally sentenced to life imprisonment."Thank you, sweetheart," he replied.I wiped my father's tears that escaped from his eyes."I know we can't get back the moments that were stolen from us, but we can still have a happy and loving relationship. We are surrounded by people who love and care about us," I said."You're right; he only stole our freedom from us, not our whole being, and most of all our values and our faith in God," his dad replied."You're right, Daddy, the Lord is kind and has guided us for a long time," I said."Let's go, Big Brother, Shiloh," Claire invited us."Where are we going?" her dad asked his sister."Let's go find somepla
Heath's POVWe are finally reached in my own home. This is my first time coming home after fifteen years. I miss my home but because of my parents passing, I can't stay here. It will only make me sad. I choose to stay in the ranch instead after my parole has been granted. This home has many wonderful memories of my parents.Uncle Jethro helped me maintain the house; according to him, the time would come when I would come home. Uncle Jett was right. Now we are all in our house. I inherited this from my parents. Since I'm the only child. When Uncle Jethro resigned from his work, he stayed in this house since I was in prison, serving a sentence for a crime I never committed.
**Claire's POV**"Did Heath reply to your message?" asked Theresa."I haven't checked, but I'm sure he received it," I replied."We will be going to board soon. I think we better go to the boarding gate," Theresa reminded me."You're right; we better go there. Let's go," I said.We walked over to the boarding gate of the aircraft we're going to board. Waiting for the announcement for boarding, we have to find our seats.Time flies and the aircraft we boarded has touched down on the runway of the Australian airport. In less than two hours, I'm going to see my brother. My palms are sweating and itching. I couldn't explain my feeling right now—a feeling of excitement."Relax, Claire. We will run to the immigration office, okay?" Theresa said, smiling.I also could feel that, like me, she's excited to meet Shiloh."Look who's giving me the advice to relax," I replied, smiling. When th
**Heath's POV**I was overwhelmed when Charles Madrigal told me to call him Daddy. I miss my own father and the word Daddy is too precious for me. I was wrong when I told Shiloh that his father would not be coming back. Well, maybe not my own father in flesh but Shiloh's father is as gentle as my own father.I love what I am doing with him. Serving him gives me joy. I'm excited to see his transformation. So when he asked if I could cut his beard. I run to the nurse's station and ask for scissors and a razor blade. He asked too if they have an extra toothbrush for our dad. I'm already planning to shop his things as soon as we are fine to go out.I cut his beard very gently; I don't want to hurt him. I leave on
