A defeat.

Noelle heaved, with a deep breath, she straightened her posture and prepared to meet the sage. They made their way to the sage's chamber, their footsteps echoing loudly in the silent halls.

As they approached the door, Noelle's heart pounded in her chest. Nathan reached for the door handle, but before he could turn it, the door creaked open on its own.

Noelle's breath caught in her throat as she saw the sage standing before her, his eyes locked onto hers. He was an old man, with a long white beard and a solemn expression.

"You have finally come," he said in a deep, raspy voice. "I have been waiting for you." The sage said amidst smiles.

The sage stood before Noelle, his presence commanding and powerful. Noelle couldn't bring herself to look directly at him, her body shaking with fear and uncertainty. She stumbled backwards, her legs weak and unsteady. Nathan quickly stepped forward, catching her before she fell.
