*Alpha Oscar's POV*
My eyes fluttered open as I stared around my surroundings. I quickly got up and touched the side of my stomach where I was shot.
Anger seared through me as I wondered who had the guts to shoot me. How dare they? The door opened and Beta Fernando walked in.
“You're finally awake. I thought you were going to be out for two days.” He chuckled and I furrowed my brows.
“How long have I been out?” I questioned and he sighed.
“One day.” He answered and I gasped.
“One day?” I asked and tried to get down but he stopped me.
“I know you're angry but you have to calm down and stay here for now. The doctor asked us to look after you.” He said and I sighed.
I balled my fist in rage. “Have you looked into the person that attempted this shit?” I asked, referring to the gunshot.
“We tried our best but the person was smart. He left no trace. I think it's a sniper, but the police are still investigating it.” He replied.
“Who could have done this and why?” I questioned.
“Well, I arrived at the list of different suspects. They are companies that have been jealous of your success for a long period of time. It's quite possible that one of them might have attempted to take you out so as to take the lead.” He explained and I saw a bit of sense in what he said.
“You're definitely right. The problem now is who among them will have the balls to try such a thing?” I massaged my temple as I thought hard.
“We'll find that out for you. You need to rest now, okay?” He smiled at me and I sighed.
I suddenly remembered something and looked around for my phone. When I found it, I dialed a number and it was answered after the first ring.
“Any lead? Have you found her?” I asked and the other end went silent for a while.
“No, Alpha. We haven't found her yet.” He answered and my countenance changed immediately.
“What do you mean you haven't found her yet?” I frowned.
“We tried our best to track her location but couldn't. We've gone to places and asked people some questions but none seemed to have seen her. I don't think she's in this country.” He answered.
“Then go look for her somewhere else. How can you tell me that you can't find a single lady? I tasked you with this for six fucking years and you keep giving me unsatisfactory feedbacks. Find her!” I ordered.
“We're searching different countries for her now, Alpha. We even went to different airports around the country to check travel records but couldn't find anyone with her name. We'll try our best.” He said and I groaned.
“I don't care if you have to go to the ends of the earth to find her. I just want her brought to me, okay?” I ordered.
“Yes, Alpha.” He answered and I hung up.
I growled angrily.
“Calm down, you're just recovering.” Beta Fernando warned me.
“Don't tell me to calm down. How can I calm down when the guilt is eating me whole? How do I calm down when I can't find the one person my heart yearns for? It's been six years and still no trace of her. I have no idea how she's living now. I don't know if she's eating well or even if she's still alive. I can't calm down. I want her.” I whined.
Beta Fernando sighed. “I know you want her but you need to recover and get out of here before going in search of her again. You just got shot and we're still trying to figure out who is behind this. Let's take things slowly, okay?” He patted my shoulder but that wasn't going to work on me.
After that night we had together and our conversation the next day, I realized that this particular girl was totally different from any girl I'd ever seen before. She was the first person that made my heart skip a beat after the death of my mate.
I knew I did the wrong thing by choosing my fame and business over her feelings and I felt bad for it. I wanted to find her and apologize to her but that didn't work. I eventually got her name as Trisha Drake from the club, where I was told she worked and also a picture. I tried my best to look for her but couldn't find her.
And each day without me getting any useful results was hell for me because I realized she stole my heart. There was something about her that I really wanted to know more about, which strengthened my resolve to find her but for seven years, I haven't gotten any leads and it was driving me crazy. My wolf had been silent as well and had refused to say anything about the situation on ground.
“This is messed up!” I muttered and ruffled my hair. I looked around and suddenly realized that this wasn't my private hospital. This was somewhere else.
“This isn't my private—”
“Yes, you were bleeding so much and there was no time to take you to your private hospital so we stopped at the nearest one. Turns out, the doctor is skilled and she saved you.” Beta Fernando smiled.
“Where is she?” I asked a nurse, who stood not far away.
“She is in her office, Alpha.” She bowed.
“Call her for me. I need to thank her for saving me,” I ordered. The nurse bowed and left. My phone rang and I answered it. “What is it this time?” I asked.
“We found her!” He exclaimed and my heart thumped.
“Found who?” I asked.
“Trisha Drake. We found her, Alpha!”
I couldn't believe my ears. Finally!
“And turns out, she just returned to Los Angeles from London. She works as a doctor and built her own special hospital here in Los Angeles…”
As he was talking, the door opened and an elegant looking lady walked in. My eyes widened immediately I saw her and the phone slipped from my hand as we locked gazes.
“Evelyn,” I called and she gasped.
She didn't wait for me to say anything else and rushed out of the room. I got down and ran after her. I wasn't going to lose her this time; not ever again.
I caught up with her and held her hand. She turned to look at me, her eyes glassy.
“I finally found you, Trisha Drake.”
"I finally found you Trisha Drake." I muttered locked up in her gaze. My voice was full of regrets and guilt. Now more than ever I felt so much remorse for what I did a few years back, i could only imagine how cruel my actions were.I was only trying to keep my reputation and image clean, oblivious of the fact that I was just making one of the biggest mistakes of my life.At the verge of trying to keep it clean on my side I was actually causing her more harm.I was barely done judging by past actions, when she abruptly pulled her hands off my grip."don't you dare touch me." she muttered more like a groan. She had all the liberty in the world to get mad at me, even if it means hitting on me, I really don't care, cause I knew I deserved something even worse than what I had done to her."please trisha hear me out." I implored with a really sympathetic tune. I made it so obvious that I was actually remorseful for what I did in the pastI attempted to reach out to her hands again but she
*Trisha's POV* “Trisha, table four!” “Roger that!” I collected the tray of drinks from Maureen and pushed through the crowd of half naked ladies and bare chested men and arrived at the table in no time. “Here and enjoy,” I smiled brightly before making my way back to the bar. Well, this is how my life has been. After my university education, I thought I'd finally go to medical school and get my medical certificate then become a doctor like everyone else but then, father died and we had to use the money, sell some of our stuff to give him a burial befitting a wolf of his demeanor. Father was the beta to the Alpha but after his death, the royal family forgot all about us and mother died suffering from depression, and I was left to survive my cruel fate, and here I am. Mother left me to my nanny to take care of, and she had no good job, so I was left to look for a good job that'll sustain the both of us, and so I begun working as a bartender in this club. The salary was okay since it
*Trisha's POV* I chuckled. “Life has refused to go the way I want and happiness is far from me. I just wanted to drown away my sorrow, that's all.” He chuckled. “Same here. I've been betrayed by the people I call family and they've really shown me the monster in them.” I snickered and downed another bottle. “Yours is better. My wife left me alone in this world. She should have taken me with her but she died and left me here,” He narrated and I felt bad for him. “I loved her so much.” He sniffled and I patted his back, forgetting about my own sorrow. Mine might be betrayal but his was the death of someone he loved dearly. I remembered how I felt when Father passed on and tears rolled down my cheeks. “Carlota, where are you?” He questioned in tears and downed another bottle of beer. He was about to go for the sixth one but I stopped him. “Hey, pull yourself together. I know you're in pain but drinking this much won't do you good,” I advised him even though I had planned on doing t
*Trisha's POV* I awoke the next day and sat up on the bed as “Eve, open the door.” I heard my mother's voice and sniffed. When I finally opened the door, she walked in and hugged me. “Tell me, what's the problem?” She asked. “I'm sorry, mother. I failed you.” I cried, holding her tight. “I don't understand what you're saying, dear. Calm down and explain things to me. Tell me what actually happened.” She urged me. I told her everything but I didn't tell her it was the Alpha I slept with. I don't want her going to the mansion the next day and putting herself at risk for me. She pulled me in for a hug and patted my back. “It's okay. I'm grateful to the moon goddess that you're alive. I'm so sorry. If I had a job, you wouldn't be working in that club and going through this.” “No, mother, it's not your fault.” I hugged her tighter and sighed. *** A few days later, I was back to work. I have decided to put whatever happened behind me and move on with my life. I have learned that
7 years later*Trisha's POV*I stepped out of the plane with my head up high as I took in the familiar scent of the London airport. It was a scent that once filled me with trepidation and sorrow, but now it carried a different meaning. It was the scent of triumph, of overcoming the odds stacked against me.My nanny, who had always been with me through thick and thin walked alongside with me, her presence a constant reminder of the unwavering support and love that had guided me through my darkest days. Together, we had forged a path of resilience and determination, refusing to let the past define us.As I walked through the bustling airport, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. It was here, in this very city, where I had suffered unimaginable pain. It was here that I had found the strength to leave the pack, to break free from the chains of pain and betrayal that had me bound. But I didn't just survive; I thrived. With my nanny's encouragement, I pursued my dreams relentlessly. I worked
