“Did you agree to go?” I heard Archie asking from behind me as I packed my luggage. “Schuyler, you can say no if you're not ready to go back. Besides, my mother will find out, you might get in trouble.”

I glanced at my daughter who's silently watching me as she sat on the bed. Unlike what I was expecting, Stormi was silent and never opposed my decision to go. I knew she was having a hard time, but we both know how important this job is to me. It's my only way to provide for her needs.

“This is my job, Archie. I can't always live under your care—I don't want Stormi to grow up learning nothing from me but to depend on the people around her.” I turned to face him with a sullen face. “I am her mother and as much as this pains me, I have to go and for her to see that this is how things should be in this situation.”
