The bonfire dinner went well past midnight. The coupled wolves only began to disperse by three in the morning. Jason excused himself from the company of his mother and headed for the pack house.

He stepped into the shower with Regina and June's earlier conversation replaying in his mind. His mother seemed to have alot of questions for June;

"What's your father's name?"

"Ian Gilbert." June did justice to all her questions without any exhibition of nervousness or irritation.

"Gilbert? Are you related to the late Monty Gilbert?"

June had smiled, "Yes, he was my granduncle."

Regina nodded, she knew a generous percent of the families in the pack by last name. And the Gilberts, she perceived they were indeed a noble family at least from what she'd heard about Monty. "And your mother?"

"Deceased."

"Oh, sorry about that."

A sigh escaped Jason's lips as the cool water cascaded from his thick mass of wispy black hair down his body. He ran through his face before picking up the bottle of body

June's knuckles rapped on the door softly, the door to Regina's chambers."That you Jason?" Regina's soft voice rang out."No, it's June."A grin creeped upon Regina's face, "oh come on in, June."June stepped in, hands behind her back. She returned Regina's smile. She watched the woman tuck a black journal beneath one of the pillows before getting up from her comfortable position on the enticing bed. Regina moved with grace towards the walk in closet, "Almira must've told you...""Yes, she did," June watched as she disappeared into the closet and appeared with a long, flowing white lace gown. "This, my darling, is the dress I'd love for you to wear to the coronation this evening."June was awestruck, and at a loss for words. "It's, oh God," she chuckled, "it's beautiful." Breathtaking infact."It will look even more beautiful on you." Regina placed the dress in June's arms. The lace formed the ball of the gown, the numerous stones attached to it reflected rainbow coloured lights. Th

"Good morning Luna," Almira rendered a cheery greeting the moment June stepped into the kitchen the next morning, looking groggy and sleepy eyed."Morning Almira, what you doing?" June asked, observing as servants moved around the kitchen.Almira pulled out a plastic bowl from the fridge before responding to June's question. "Preparing breakfast." She ambled to the microwave. June took further steps into the kitchen, "Permission to join you,"Almira giggled, "Permission granted."June moved to stand beside her, "So, how does this work? How do you know what each person wants for breakfast and prepare it?"Almira pointed behind her at the fridge, "Regina put up a timetable, and today we're having pancakes, potato salad, boiled eggs, cream soup and yoghurt, we make the yoghurt."June smiled, "Let me fry the pancakes?" "Sanu," Almira called to a servant who was mixing batter in a large bowl. "Give the bowl to Luna, she wants to do it." The bald, middle aged man nodded and handed June the

"Theodosia." She mumbled "Huh?" June perked up an eyebrow, her eyes scanning the pretty old lady."That's Theodosia, Regina's close friend. She's a wolf but she has psychic powers, she's kinda of like a medium.""Supernatural wolves exist?" June asked."They're rare but they're there. They exist." She quickened her pace. Jason's eyes couldn't have gone any wider. With his jaw hanging, he stared at the back of June's head. But the latter wasn't done yet as she stepped menacingly towards the old woman and mouthed the words; "fuck off Theodosia."And then poof, June was no longer in the living room and Jason had no idea what to do first, apologise to Theodosia or chase after his mate."I'm, I'm..." he started but dashed off before he could finish. The sun was yet to rise the next morning by the time Jason heard his mate sneaking into their room. He turned and looked over his shoulder at her. He was stationed at the reading table, the pencil in hand poised few inches away from the thick book in front of him. The moment his eyes met hers, she seemed to freeze on the spot, allowing him to take in her appearance. Her disheveled hair, wide eyes, rumpled blouse and rapid chest movements. His forehead seemed to scrunch up as his nostrils began to pick up a different smell around her. It was a musky masculine smell. The smell mixed with hers in a way it shouldn't. It merged with hers like as though she'd had sex with the owner of the musky smell. Now the widening of Jason's golden brown orbs happened so slowly it was almost funny. His wolf went wild in his head, causing his orbs to glaze with fury. While she just stood there with her back to the closed door, staring at him candidly. She noticed his shallow breaths and immediately kne

She had her mousy hair held up in a side pony that danced along her back while she skipped leisurely towards the entrance of the pack house. Ian had adviced Antara not to go disturbing June as she was the Luna now but Tara had zealously refused, stating she had to visit her sister as she can't go so long without getting a glimpse of June. However, when she climbed up the steps and beheld the two able bodied guards that stood mounted on either side of the grand doors peering down at her, she felt intimidated. The sun peeked stylishly through the clouds as it rose. A lukewarm softness characterized the morning breeze. The birds sang aloud while Antara looked up at both guards with her mouth clamped shut."You have to state to us your mission for coming here young lady." One of the guards then said in a relaxed baritone voice."Oh," Tara squeaked "I'm here to see my sister, your Luna."The guard nodded and gestured for Antara to step in but deep down, he personally did not know if the L

They say been numb is when you no longer react properly to feelings. When your response to the depth of emotions swirling around you is simple indifference. But maybe numb can also be a state where you feel totally consumed by multiple emotions all at once that you no longer know what your feeling and how to react to it. You can no longer differentiate between when your sad, angry, depressed or just stressed.Having noted this on paper, it's safe to say June was numb. Walking out of Regina's room, she no longer knew what she felt. She found it difficult to react to the events happening around her. Taking a turn down to her room, she couldn't even tell if her lungs were still receiving oxygen. Her head felt heavy. Reaching out for the door knob to her room, she cracked the door wide open. But before she could even step inside, she felt his masculine scent of sandalwood waft up her nostrils and a wave of some other emotion washed through her. Was it guilt? Regret? She couldn't tell. M

The more you look, the less you see. The more she looked, the less she saw. She no longer saw her dad or her aunt Biff. She saw two strangers who were set to rip her heart out and tear it to shreds. She no longer saw her big teddy, her five, she saw a man who has no regard for his late mate and what they shared. A man so willing to let go of his past like it never even happened. She no longer saw her friendly chess rival, her mother's look alike, she saw a woman she couldn't care less about her sister to throw all her memories away. She saw a woman who also wanted to forget all about her mate and take someone else's position. June felt disgusted. And when a pair of big caramel orbs collided with hers she felt on the brink of breaking. Big bright orbs that belonged to Ian. He looked elated to see her. He even waved at her, gesturing at her to come over but she looked away coldly. Tara waved back though. Oblivious. "So cute." Palmer cooed, blindly reaching out to sip another spoon of t

"I hope you're enjoying your stay here so far?" Retha's velvety voice caused June's eyes to snap towards her direction. She was Horace's beta, a young woman with Auburn hair and a welcoming smile. She was sitted across the table from June. The table that had the capacity to hold fifteen people but now only nine people sat around it for dinner.Jason swallowed beside her, "Yes, yes we are." He returned her smile briefly before going to back to the plate of rice in front of him. Dinner was sumptuous as fuck. The candle lights gleaming from the centre of the table flickered and that somehow called her attention to Horace who was seated at the head of the table. His eyes were down at his plate, only lifting when the fork in his hand lifted to his mouth. His eyes found hers, she wanted to look away but didn't want to appear intimidated by his black pools of mystery. He seemed like the type to take pleasure in intimidating people, so no, she didn't look away yet causing him to smirk before

June stared longingly out the window that was rolled down all the way. The rapid in gush of air sweeping her chocolate locks backward. How did she even get here? Ah yes, she readily and willingly agreed to go with Jason to the Galaxia. She needed to get out of that house, away from the invisible cloud of doom looming over it, away from her nightmares. She needed to get away from the knowing(teasing) looks Regina, Antara and Almira keep throwing her way since they noticed the giant wolf hickey on her neck. She needed to get away from her dad's constant letters, she wouldn't reply nor read any of them, why couldn't he get that? She knew what they all held. It's the same old excuse; June please, try to understand, I just want to be happy. Yeah, well, okay dad. Go ahead, be happy, just leave me out of it. Most of all, she needed to get away from herself. She didn't realise it until now. Now that the shiny black BMW is cruising down a lonely gravel road, lined with fields and nothingness.

The sun hidden. The clouds casting gloomy shadows. The atmosphere smelled of fresh greenery. A knuckle tapping softly on the giant oak wood door."Come in," Jason said, escaping his own head. Beta George walked in. Looking neat, in a white button up, red suit pants and tie. "Alpha," he bowed slightly."George." Jason beamed."Too many teeth alpha, I might just lose my sight." George teased. The cheerfulness and giddiness oozing from his alpha can not be ignored. It demanded attention considering it's making a first appearance. Jason chuckled, turning away. He'd been thinking of June all morning. Of how she begged to be marked, how her eyes seemed to roll back the moment his fangs sank into her neck, how she so effortlessly took his breath away. They all kept replaying in his head, he couldn't stop them he could only escape for a bit."Anything?" He asked the blonde man grinning at him.George advanced forward, taking the seat across Jason on the desk. "Yes, here," he presented a

Here you go," Almira said, placing the wrapped rectangle in Jason's custody arm. He smiled gratefully at her, nobody knew he didn't want to be there, receiving all those cool gifts. Her's was the final gift of the evening. And as he unwrapped it to reveal a golden wristwatch with tiny precious stones embedded around the clock, he wondered what June was up to. Honestly, he couldn't wait to storm into that room and give her the scolding of her life. I get it you don't like me, you didn't know it was my birthday so obviously you don't have a gift for me but is it too much to ask that you be here while I received these gifts? "Thank you so much, Almira. It's nice, I love it."Richards pouted, deciding at that moment to say something Jason wasn't really in the mood for. "Nicer than my gift?"Jason looked at him. "You got me wine Richards," he stated matter of factly. "Wine you stole from the bar in my bedroom. So yes, her gift is way nicer than yours."A smooth chuckle left Richards throat

After retrieving their clothes from where they'd kept it folded neatly beside a tree trunk, they walked silently back to the pack house. "Pass the milk please," Antara chirped, while spreading the peanut paste unto a slice of bread. The breakfast table was heavily garnished and the aroma of tea filled the air."More salad?" Almira was standing behind Regina's seat asking if she needed more salad, her blond hair was curled into itself in a very messy bun.Regina looked up, "there you two are!" She said referring to Jason and June standing awkwardly at the entrance. "Sit, have breakfast." She assessed their dripping wet hairs and rumpled clothes."Hmm, morning sex in the lake," Richard smirked before nudging Antara by his side, "we should try that sometime." She blushed crimson, June almost did too while Almira balked at her twin, half restraining herself from flinging the salad bowl in his direction. Regina tried to hide her discomfort before saying, "Unfortunately it didn't end with

The power had gone out a while ago so June had lit the candles. Now she stood in front of the vanity admiring a solitaire, the solitaire belonging to the ring Regina had gifted her as a coronation present. It was beautiful, it still had the ability to take her breath away but currently it made her chest ache. Why? Because Regina had gifted her this ring with so much joy that her son had finally found his mate but the disappointment her eyes held when she beheld June's bare neck that ought possess a mark by now, it killed June. Made her feel so ashamed and reminded her how much of a bad person she was. The longer she stared at the ring, the more it haunted her. The trees were whistling loudly as the wind rushed through them. It was a windy night. Letting go of the ring, she sashayed towards the window and drew the thick curtains back a bit so she could stare at the stars. Her mom was up there. Frowning down at her. "I'm sorry mom, I...I've changed so much, I'm no longer your innocent
