PEARL’S POV~
“Please you have to save her please!” he pleaded, his voice filled with worry as his grip tightened around me.
“sir!” the nurse called, his eyes were fearful.
Who is this woman I'm being begged to save? His lover, his wife?
“Sir you are going to crush her!” the doctor yelled before pulling him away from me.
He bolted out of the room leaving me in a complete daze.
What the hell is going on? How can I help this man who just saved my life?
“Relax pearl, you are safe, sorry about Mr D’angelo, he is just under a lot of stress” she continued, I nodded.
“But I don't understand. Am I free to go?” I inquired, I heard a loud sound and then rounds of electric shock before someone finally heaved a sigh of relief when a different sound came back.
“So she’s been stabilized then?” the doctor asked, leaving the room, she didn't answer my question, am I a prisoner here or am I free to go?
“Doctor” I called out to her, she pretended not to hear, and so I raised my voice higher.
“ yes Miss Pearl, you are free to leave, but I'd advise you to wait for Mr D’angelo, I believe you owe him a favour”
I nodded in understanding, of course, I should at least thank him properly before I left New York City for Good.
She departed, making me wonder who this woman was, and how important she had to be to have this man up on his toes, lunging at me like a madman.
Something I wish Logan would have done for me when his family trolled me for years.
Instead of defending his wife, he would rather cheat and get another woman pregnant, and now I've lost my baby and they would pay dearly!
All of them, every member of the Davis-Malone family will feel my pain one way or another because I'm coming back for blood, but first I have to leave here and find a way to contact my uncle.
I tried to get up and follow Mr D'angelo to see what all the ruckus was about, but I was stopped by the sharp pain of the IV embedded into my vein.
I held the long frame and pulled it towards the door, I relied on it for support as I gradually guided myself down the hall, towards the beeping sound.
I heard voices and that's when I stopped, “My darling, are you okay?” I heard his calm tone, a soothing voice that pleased the ear.
I imagined waves gently crashing into the rocks as his voice rocked my ears, snap out of it pearl!
He is probably in there with his wife, I moved closer and that’s when I saw her.
Lying on the bed, the tiny frail voice replied, “It hurts Daddy, so much”
It's his daughter, I never knew he had a daughter, but what about her mom why isn't she here?
“I'm so sorry, sweetheart, I promise it will get better soon, look I found someone,” he continued and I listened closely.
“Are you sure they won't run out like the last one, you always call them rare idiots” came her tiny response.
“No not this time my love, this one was godsent, he knows Papa has used all his connections to find you a match, so he decided to send s better rare idiot” he chuckled.
She laughed along with him and chortled, “Daddy you are the rare idiot”
I heard him make tickle sounds before she guffawed loudly,” Ohhh am I?” laughing and screaming as loud as her tiny voice could carry.
I was offended, could he be referring to me? Am I the rare idiot, thinking long and hard about the past event I guess maybe I truly have been the rarest of idiots, but not anymore, this time will be different.
I fumed and turned to leave when I accidentally banged the drip stand against the wall.
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath.
I started to hurry off but I heard sudden footsteps behind me, “Pearl?” his voice called.
I turned and smiled at him.
“Hi, Mr D’angelo” I waved, “just Nico, please join us, someone I'd like you to meet” he continued.
I nodded and followed him into his daughter's well-decorated child’s room, making me wonder how long she’d been here for.
“Pearl I want you to meet my daughter, Sophie” he stated, I smiled and moved close to the young girl, and I sat beside her on the bed.
“Hi Sophie” I smiled, “it's Sophia, daddy gets it wrong all the time” she corrected with a weak smile.
“Hi Sophia, I'm Pearl, your daddy saved my life, and it seems I'm supposed to save you, but… how?”
Sophia looked confused, “Daddy? You haven't asked her?” she inquired with an annoyed little pout, “that's not very nice” she added.
Nico smiled, “I'm sorry sweetheart” he turned to me, “You and my daughter both share the same blood type” he started and I was stunned.
“Rh Null? Wow, I've never met someone with my blood type” I said before taking Sophia's frail hand.
“I know you aren't fully healed from all your injuries, but Pearl my daughter will die if she doesn't get blood, please, this is how you can pay me back” he finished, both of them looking at me with teary eyes.
“Of course, I'll be glad to give her my blood”
After a few hours, it was over, and I was resting in bed when I overheard the doctor and Nico talking in the hallway.
“Yes we’ve been able to make significant progress sir, a few more bags and we could start looking for a cure for your daughter, we need her Mr D’angelo, something about her blood is different from the rest, in just an hour after administering it to your daughter, we were able to record signs of a kickstart in her bone marrow”
I heard Nico Yelp excitedly, “is that good news Dr!” he exclaimed, “wonderful news sir, we just have to convince her, she’s resting now, so maybe in a few days we can extract some more”
With that I heard footsteps depart, I opened my eyes and I saw Nico standing outside my door, staring hard at me.
I had to get out of here, I paid my favour back and I won't be used for an experiment and a lab rat because of indebted gratitude.
As soon as I was sure he had gone, I got out of bed, ripped the IV from my arm and quietly left the room with a thank-you note on the pillow.
I snuck a doctor’s coat to disguise and soon I was out of the hospital doors, I walked outside towards the parking area hoping I'd get a cab, but instead, a van suddenly drove in front of me.
Two hefty men dressed in all black, with black face masks on suddenly stepped out and they both grabbed me.
“Who the hell are you? Help!” but my cries fell on deaf ears as I tried to fight my way to freedom.
I was tossed into the van, my cries muffled with a white cloth over my face and soon I was falling unconscious.
My last thought as I lay there was poor little Sophie’s face.
I thought I'd been given a second chance.
Pearl’s pov~The day of the pageant finally came. August was by my side as usual; he never left my side, not for one day.“Are you ready?” he asked, kissing my lips gently.I shivered under his touch. “Yeah, I am,” I smiled.“You don't have to do it if you don't want to,” he smiled back.“How are you okay with all of this, August? I'm a married woman with a baby on the way. It feels too good to be true,” I said, touching his long hair. All he did was look at me intensely and smile.“I'm not worried about anything; as long as we are together, I'm fine,” he said.“Oh August, I honestly don't deserve you,” I continued before touching his face. But all I wanted to hear at that moment was Pearlita…He took my hand and helped me up. He looked at me and he was awestruck. “You look so stunning, Pearl, so beautiful. Are you ready for your first debut? You are, after all, the face of DM Holdings,” he bragged.“No, that’s a lie Devina, all of a sudden I'm the evil mistress who won't let the ex g
Devina’s pov~I read the headline again, Rival partner Logan Davis Malone offers his 5million dollar yatch to ceo Pearl D’Angelo for peagent, amidst separation rumours from his pregnant fiancée, Miss Devina Daniels.“He did what?” I crumpled the newspaper in my hands and threw it to the ground. My sister came from around the corner, her eyes bright from her early morning jog.“What’s got you so worked up?” she asked, I fumed and pointed to the crumpled up paper on the floor beside her feet. She leaned down to pick it up, she read it and she laughed.“What’s so funny?” I asked trying to get up with my 37 weeks old belly.“Well I did tell you shitvwas going to hit the fan sooner or later, why on earth did you leave?” my sister Desiree asked, “It was getting to dangerous, I was involved in some diabolical shit I had to skip town” I replied.“Then maybe stop worrying about it and focus on your baby” she replied putting her ear pods away.“This is serious Desiree, there’s a bitch on my as
PEARL’S POV~CHAPTER: Ultrasound & Unraveling“You ratted me out to Kenji!” came a thunderous roar, Sophie was startled.I turned around and there she was Akira Watanabe, a ghost from my past. She looked furious, bloodthirsty anger surged through her, and Sophia looked scared.“Can we talk in the hallway you are scaring her” I always felt uneasy in hospitals because there was too much quietness for such painful places. With my palm lying over my bloated stomach, I strolled alone across the clean hallway. Kira was in a downward spiral about something, something I had no hand in.“What the hell are you talking about Akira?” I asked. She scoffed “back to formalities now are we?” she asked, “you are scaring my child,” I retorted.“Which of them because from the look of things you and Nico have been busy” she spat.“Why are you here Kira? You wanted nothing to do with me, remember? So why are you here?”“Did you rat me out to Kenji?” she asked. I was shocked by her statement, “how the h
NICO’S POV~I waited for Adam at the usual spot for over 3 hours, and the bastard didn't show up. This was his usual shenanigans, and I wasn't up for it.I turned to leave when I noticed a black sedan heading in my direction. I stopped and waited, hoping it was my sleek consigliere driving towards me.The car stopped in front of me, and he got out. He wore a black suit with a pink tie. I sighed. Something about him will always tick me off.“Hi, boss,” he greeted before extending an arm to me. “Adam, you said it was urgent? What the hell is so urgent that you couldnt tell me over the phone” Someone like Adam shouldn't have been noticed in the alley behind La Rue d'Or. His smell was too refined, his outfit too immaculate. However, he remained unflinching when the shadows shifted and I appeared like a menacing specter dressed in pricey wool."You're late to your own fucking meeting, Adam!" I stated in a foreboding tone.Adam looked at his timepiece. "No, I'm not. You simply lack patienc
PEARL’S POV~I wasnt going to rest, no not when a vulture perched and waited for my carcass at my doorstep, with Camille gone, the D’angelo mansion was eerily still.Which made me wonder, what if camille never really left, this house used to belong to Langdon moseley, and cammile and her dead sister grew up here.So what if somehow she was still here, I reached for my phone and called August.“Hey, Pearl, sleep okay?” he asked. I sighed, “Yesterday was wild even for me but I had to do it, im watching TV right now and all I can see is my epic failure as a CEO, some people are saying I resigned to be a supermodel” I managed a small laugh.“In your condition, I don't think it's safe enough for you to keep engaging in risky situations,” he said.“I know that August, trust me but I'll never get the peace I deserve with Camille still out there, where is she now?” I asked “Give me a second let me check, she hadnt moved from the funeral place before i slept off” he yawned.“Were you up all n
Pearl's POV~They say Grief only knows how to wear black. I said, Fuck it, and I decided to go with red.It was audacious, and people whispered before I had uttered a word, their eyes pressed on the slippery silk that hugged every curve. A pageant launch wasn't usually held at a funeral, but I wasn't your average widow. Camille was aware that Nico wasn't dead. But she was willing to take that chance to see him one last time if, truly, she was obsessed with him.Throwing my husband a funeral despite knowing he was alive would make her curious enough to know if Nico is truly dead. The headlines were already half written: *CEO Widow Honors Late Husband Nicolas D’Angelo. It was part trap and part theater. "Pearl," Adam called from beside me, adjusting the gold-trimmed suit I had asked him to wear. "This feels insane," he criticized with a shake of his head."That's the idea," I replied with a gentle smile, pinning a crimson carnation to his lapel. "We need Camille to feel comfortabl
