~Cory~
The sun is shining down on me as I float on my back in the river. The water is warm enough to make you feel like you are being enveloped within a warm embrace. There are no worries, no fears. Everything is calm. I, suddenly, lose my concentration and find myself falling. The water is covering my face and invading my nose. I can feel water in my throat and when I open my mouth to scream, nothing but gurgles come out. The water is no longer warm. It is ice cold and feels like a shock to my system. “Wake your ass up! You need to get to school.” I struggle to open my eyes. I’m not outside and there is no sun shining down on me. I can see four stone walls. They are dingy and covered in dried blood and other stains. It hurts to turn my head. It hurts to move my body. It hurts to breathe. I’m laying on a cement floor and the memories are flooding back to me. This is the position I fell in last night. They left me just like this after beating me. I accidently dropped a glass of water on the kitchen floor and for that I was punished. “HURRY UP!”
I struggle to sit up, every part of my body screaming in protest. I roll onto my knees and push myself up, finally standing on my feet. I take shaky steps towards the stairs to see a change of clothes left out for me. It makes sense. These clothes are covered in blood and that isn’t a good look for school. I change as quickly as my body will allow and head up the stairs. I don’t bother trying to get breakfast, because I know there isn’t any for me. I grab my notebook and my pen and head out of the house. It is usually a short walk to school, but my injuries will make it longer. Just another day in hell and I have no escape.

Some people dread going to a new school, but not me. I love seeing the different schools and how different the students can be. My excitement is not necessarily for a new school, but more so for the harassment that will end. Being the future Alpha, there is no shortage of people who are looking to be ‘friends’ or more in hopes that it elevates their own status. I simply want my last year of high school to be quiet. Maybe I will meet some new people and come up with true friends. Maybe I will meet my mate; well after I turn 18 in 4 months. The exciting part is that anything can happen and I can’t wait. Since I’m not one to make a big splash, I decide to keep my outfit under the radar. I slip on a pair of skinny jeans along with a black sports bra and a black crop top hoodie. I tie my outfit together with a pair of black Nike AirMax. I’m not really that into makeup so I just stick with the chapstick. I just got goddess box braids over the weekend in red so I decide to leave them down. I grab my bag and head downstairs. My parents are already at the table along with my little brother. “Morning mom, dad,” I say, kissing them both on the cheek. I sit next to my brother and nudge him with my arm, “Morning half-pint.” He just grumbles and continues eating his cereal.
“Are you sure you really want to go to this school?” My mom has asked me this a hundred times already I swear.
“Love, you know she wants this. She has told us many times. We need to just let her go.” My dad pats my mom's back as she sighs.
“I just worry about her so much. I want her to be safe.” I shake my head.
“Mom, I will be there with Lennox. Bryn will be driving us to and from and there will be a warrior hidden as a security guard at the school. I will be just fine.” I go to my mom and wrap my arms around her nuzzling her neck. “Mom, I just want to finish high school in peace. Lennox and I want to be able to get through the rest of the year with no one knowing that we are the future Alpha and Beta. The stress of it all is too much.” My mom squeezes my arms and nods. “Don’t worry so much,” I whisper in her ear. My mom chuckles and kisses my cheek.
My parents are amazing and they are the Alpha and Luna of the Ash Band Pack. My dad, Alpha Byron, is well loved and respected around this pack and outside of it. He rules with love and logic. All of the pack members know that he is accessible to them at all times and he will always do what he can to ensure their safety and happiness. My mom, Luna Amara, is a role model to many. She is always bright and cheery with all of the pack members. She knows everyone’s names and enough of their personal lives that they feel truly seen and heard by her. I try to take from both of my parents to form the type of Alpha I want to be. I will take over for my parents soon. I’m in my last year of high school and then I will go to an Alpha training camp for about 2 years. I will learn different modes of combat as well as strategic thinking. My future Beta will go to a similar camp and we will meet up once a month, for a week, to train together. It is all so extensive, but worth it. I’m excited to become the new Alpha of my pack. We are a successful pack and I want to keep that going.
Hi Readers! Thank you for checking my story out. I hope you find something you enjoy and will continue reading. Please feel free to comment.
The doorbell rings and I get up, quickly, to answer it. Lennox is standing at the door smirking. “Are you ready, baby girl?” I grin in response. Lennox looks good as always with his caramel skin. He is 6’4 and solid with muscles. He is always catching the eyes of all women he comes across. His hazel eyes always seem to glitter with excitement. Lennox rocks a tapered haircut, with the top in twists. He has his ends dyed blonde. “I’ve been ready. I know this will go so much better for us and it’s senior year!” We head out to the car where Bryn is waiting for us. Bryn is a year older than us and she will be my Gamma when I take over. Bryn is always the life of the party. She keeps a pixie cut, but always sports a different color on the top. At this time, her hair is a deep purple and it looks good with her light blue eyes and fair skin. Bryn has plump lips with a lip ring on her bottom lip and a brow ring on her right side. Bryn may be a year older, but the three of
~Laslo~ Gorgeous, simply gorgeous. I’ve been 18 for a few months now, but haven’t found my mate. I’m not completely sold on the concept; I have no issue taking a chosen mate. The new student is just gorgeous. I can’t tell what her rank is, but it doesn’t matter. I can turn her into anything I want her to be. I think that I can get her to agree to being mine if given the time. I found out about Zahara when some of my people informed me that they saw her talking to Cory. It is well known that Cory is to be ignored. He is worthless and needs to be treated as such. Cory is the child of my step-father. He is a bastard child and he is lucky we allow him to stay around. Cory is useless and wolfless. There is no place in my pack for a wolfless individual. Once I take over, after training, I plan to make Cory a rogue. There is no place for weak, wolfless people in my pack. Well, maybe I will let him stay on as a slave. It just depends on what I decide to do. I wa
I don’t remember my bed feeling so stiff and uncomfortable. I move around a bit, but it doesn’t seem to help. I can hear the birds chirping loudly. I guess I kept the window open last night. *Chirp* *Chirp* I wish the birds would sleep in like most people try to do. Their chirping is starting to make my head hurt. I don’t hurt as bad as yesterday, but my face hurts really bad. I can also feel pain when I take a breath. “AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!” Ice cold water lands all over me and it is a shock to the senses. “Get the hell up! People are starting to wake up and the last thing they need to see is you passed out on the sidewalk.” I know that voice and they must be the same person who brought the ice water and put it on me. I sit up slowly and try to blink multiple times to clear my sight. I hear a sigh and look up to my right. My step-mother is standing there, glaring at me. Margaret Hastings, Luna to the Wild Tail Pack, chosen mate to my later father,
The rest of the morning passes by, but I don’t remember much. I’m in a bit of a haze and am not retaining anything I’m coming into contact with. I head to Science class and am pulled back right when I’m about to walk into the room. I look down at the hand on my arm and follow it up to the face. Laslo. “Hey beautiful. What are you so deep in thought about?” “Uh…..hi.” I try to look everywhere, but in his eyes. “I’m just trying to focus on science is all.” “Mmmmm….that’s a lot of focusing don’t you think?” Laslo gives me a grin and I try not to feel sick. Laslo has his hair slicked back in a ponytail today, exposing his chiseled face to all. I can understand anyone who may see him as attractive. He definitely isn’t ugly, but there is something about him that rubs me the wrong way. Laslo reaches up to touch my face, but I take a quick step back. He chuckles and puts his hand down. “We should go out some time.” The last thing I would want to do is go out wit
It's been two weeks and it seems like Zahara and Cory are getting closer. They try to keep it from being obvious, but I have eyes and ears everywhere. I've been trying to figure out how to get Zahara to go for me, but nothing has worked. I talk to her everyday, but she is really standoffish. She is very polite, don’t get me wrong, but she doesn’t go beyond that. Hopefully, this party tonight can change things. The upperclassmen are hosting a party since we are getting closer to the end of the school year. I may have made sure that Zahara was, for sure, going to be in attendance. One good thing about being the future Alpha is that I’m able to get people to do things for me. The hosts of the party were more than happy to make sure that they convinced Zahara to attend the party. Now it’s on me to get her to see me as I want her to. I arrive at the party when it’s already in full swing. I don't want to make a spectacle of showing up or being there early. I w
~Laslo~ FUCK! What the hell just happened? How did I lose control like that? I wanted her!I know Nero, but not like that. How can I come back from that? Nero growls in my mind and throws the block up. I did not intend to touch her. I just…..I just couldn’t help myself. The way she looked under the moonlight; it was just too much to take in. Then, when she fought me, what the fuck?! I won’t let anyone put their hands on me no matter what! Thankfully, she didn’t see who I was. I should be able to pursue her still and she will never know it was me who attacked her. I jumped into my car and headed home, still pissed about the entire situation. When I got home, I was still pissed and figured a run might help. I run into the house to take my clothes off. Before I make it to the stairs, I run into that loser. Cory knocks into me and drops to the floor on his ass. He grunts in pain and looks up at me. When he realizes who I am, the fear that appears in his eyes is unden
~Zahara~ The rest of the weekend went by in a blur. Lennox got me home that night and helped me get settled. He sent warriors to the house, but they came up empty. There were no clues to find and the guy had long disappeared. I had nightmares that night; the guy went a lot further than he actually got and ended up killing me when he was finished. I woke in a cold sweat, thanking the Moon Goddess that things didn’t get that far. Saturday, I had to sit down and tell my parents what happened. Dad was apoplectic; ready to scorch the Earth because of what happened to me even though it didn’t completely happen. My mom was a blubbering mess and kept talking about me switching back to my old school. My parents were shocked when I refused. I know it sounds crazy, but I have no idea who this person was. There is no guarantee that this person was even from my school. It could have been someone that was walking along or someone who has been out of school. I don’t even know who
*One Year Later*~Laslo~ This year at Alpha training has been tough but rewarding. Well rewarding in terms of beautiful women. There are daughters of Alphas here that are doing their Luna training. I have been able to sample some of the new prospects. I haven’t found my mate yet and I’m enjoying the unchained life. I have also met a few future Alpha’s that may be good to have an alliance with in the future, but I’m in no rush. I don’t exactly play well with others. We just finished a day full of combat training and it was tough. We are in the dining hall, enjoying dinner. “Hey, did you guys hear about next week?” I look up and notice Jesse sitting down at the table. He is a decent guy, but is only a back up with his older brother being the future Alpha. He said his parents wanted him to get the training during the summer just to have something under his belt. He just finished his junior year of high school and has started his summer training. “What’s go
