Zahara Meets Laslo

The doorbell rings and I get up, quickly, to answer it. Lennox is standing at the door smirking. “Are you ready, baby girl?” I grin in response. Lennox looks good as always with his caramel skin. He is 6’4 and solid with muscles. He is always catching the eyes of all women he comes across. His hazel eyes always seem to glitter with excitement. Lennox rocks a tapered haircut, with the top in twists. He has his ends dyed blonde.

“I’ve been ready. I know this will go so much better for us and it’s senior year!” We head out to the car where Bryn is waiting for us. Bryn is a year older than us and she will be my Gamma when I take over. Bryn is always the life of the party. She keeps a pixie cut, but always sports a different color on the top. At this time, her hair is a deep purple and it looks good with her light blue eyes and fair skin. Bryn has plump lips with a lip ring on her bottom lip and a brow ring on her right side. Bryn may be a year older, but the three of us have always hung out. We are very close and it was never a question as to whether we would rule together or not.

Bryn gets us to school in no time and we hop out in front. Mt. Lenier High, as the sign reads. It is a huge school and I’m extremely excited even though we are coming in midyear. There was no major incident that made Lennox and I want to switch schools. It was just too much to deal with the ridiculousness day after day. The snobby girls who were only looking for a status upgrade by befriending me or the boys who swore I would fall at their feet from just a wink and a smile. I just had to get out and I wanted to end my senior year in a good place.

Lennox and I had gotten our schedules the week before, perks of being the future Alpha. We already know that we had 3 classes together, but they would be towards the end of the day. I head to my homeroom class while Lennox heads to his. The students that were in the room were hanging out, talking to each other. Some of the girls gave me side eyes as I walk in and some of the guys are looking at me with interest. I stand in front of the room, not sure where to sit when I see someone in the back corner. His head is down and he is drawing on a paper in front of him. He seems to be ignoring everyone else, or maybe they are all ignoring him. No one is around him at all. The teacher walks into the room and everyone sits in their seats. I notice the seat in front of the boy and to the right of him are empty so I decide to sit to the right of him. As I walk towards the boy, I can hear gasps and people whispering, but I ignore them.

We made a deal with the teachers to not announce us as new students and have to do the whole ‘introduce yourselves’ aspect that usually comes with attending a new school late in the year. I didn’t want to make myself known and I definitely do not want to expose that I’m the future Alpha of my pack. I just want to be invisible. The teacher gives the morning announcements and answers a few questions before leaving us to our own devices for the rest of the period.

The boy never looks up while the teacher is talking. His pencil never seems to leave the paper he has in front of him. Normally, I would leave people alone, but something about him is drawing me in. I feel a need to speak to him; to get his attention. Aria is intrigued as well and that is not usual behavior from her. Aria is my wolf and I love her. She is strong, smart, and sassy. We are both excited to be taking that next step and becoming Alpha of our pack. I decide to try to squash my curiosity and turn to the boy. I look at the paper he is drawing on and it is a beautiful scene with a sunset in the woods. “That’s amazing. Where did you learn to draw?” I get no response which is weird because I know I was loud enough for him to hear me. I reach my hand out and gently touch his arms. The boy jerks violently from my touch and looks up scared. I put my hands up to show I’m no threat. “I’m sorry. I was just trying to get your attention.” His eyes went from scared to confused.

“Uh…..” he says and clears his throat. “Am….am I sitting in your seat? I apologize.” The boy starts to pack up his materials, but his movements are jerky. It looks as if he is in pain, but I couldn’t be sure.

“NO!” He looks startled. “No, you don’t need to move. I just saw your drawing and was telling you how amazing it is.” The boy settles back down, but still looks wary. “Let’s start all over.” I hold my hand out. “Hi. My name is Zahara Peters. I’m new here.” The boy nods. “And you are…….?” The boy looks down at his hands on the desk. I retract my hand, trying not to take offense.

“It doesn’t matter who I am.” That is a weird thing to say.

“It matters to me. I only know one person here, we transferred together. I could use some friends.” The boy shakes his head slightly.

“I’m no one’s friend. No one thinks I’m worth being friends with and they are right.” Well that is a dark thought to have and it seems that people around here have ugly attitudes.

“Well, I’d rather make up my own mind if that’s ok with you.” The boy looks up at me and I try to encourage him with my smile.

“I…..I’m…..my name is Cory. Cory Williams.” My smile widens, but before I can say anything else the bell rings. I turn to gather my things and when I turn back, Cory is gone.

My Math and English classes went by quickly, but I wasn't paying attention. My mind kept going to Cory. He seems so high strung, jumping easily. He also seems so quiet. I don’t think many people interact with him which is strange to me. He doesn’t seem like he’d be any kind of threat. The weirdest thing is the interest I have in him. We barely spoke to each other, but I can’t stop thinking about him. His caramel skin tone fits with mine so well. His light brown eyes stand out to me even now. Aria has the same mindset as me, but she isn’t any more aware of the reason why than I am.

I have Science class before lunch which I’m not really looking forward to. Science is not the most fascinating subject to me, though I do like conducting experiments. My mind is so preoccupied, walking into the room, that I’m not paying attention to where I’m going. I smash right into a solid wall that has a heartbeat. I look up at the wall to see that it is actually a chest. He is looking down on me with an amused look on his face. He is about 6’5 to my 5’10. He has black, wavy hair that sits on his shoulders. His ice blue eyes are piercing through me, as if trying to find its way to my soul. “Uh, excuse me. I’m sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was walking.” He chuckles and wraps a braid around his finger. I gently pull my braid away from his hands and take a small step back.

“You’re new here, right?” I nod slightly. He smiles, showing a full tooth grin. He could be in a toothpaste ad. “My name is Laslo Hastings. I’m the future Alpha to the Wild Tail pack.’ I hold my hand out for Laslo to shake.

“Zahara…..Zahara Peters.” I don’t plan on letting anyone know who I am and Aria has been suppressing my aura. Laslo claims to be the future Alpha, but his aura doesn’t match that claim. As Laslo is shaking my hand, his thumb is rubbing the top of my hand in circles. He is good looking, but the attention is making me a bit uncomfortable. I pull my hand back and drop it to my side. “It’s nice to meet you.” I step to the right so I can walk past Laslo to go inside. As I’m about to pass him, he grabs my arm and leans in close.

“You should really stay away from Cory. He, truly, isn’t worth the trouble.” I look up at Laslo and he winks at me before letting my arm go and walking away from the classroom. Something tells me that Laslo will not be someone I will enjoy being around.

  • His Savior   Stay Away

I don’t remember my bed feeling so stiff and uncomfortable. I move around a bit, but it doesn’t seem to help. I can hear the birds chirping loudly. I guess I kept the window open last night. *Chirp* *Chirp* I wish the birds would sleep in like most people try to do. Their chirping is starting to make my head hurt. I don’t hurt as bad as yesterday, but my face hurts really bad. I can also feel pain when I take a breath. “AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!” Ice cold water lands all over me and it is a shock to the senses. “Get the hell up! People are starting to wake up and the last thing they need to see is you passed out on the sidewalk.” I know that voice and they must be the same person who brought the ice water and put it on me. I sit up slowly and try to blink multiple times to clear my sight. I hear a sigh and look up to my right. My step-mother is standing there, glaring at me. Margaret Hastings, Luna to the Wild Tail Pack, chosen mate to my later father,

  • His Savior   Friends

The rest of the morning passes by, but I don’t remember much. I’m in a bit of a haze and am not retaining anything I’m coming into contact with. I head to Science class and am pulled back right when I’m about to walk into the room. I look down at the hand on my arm and follow it up to the face. Laslo. “Hey beautiful. What are you so deep in thought about?” “Uh…..hi.” I try to look everywhere, but in his eyes. “I’m just trying to focus on science is all.” “Mmmmm….that’s a lot of focusing don’t you think?” Laslo gives me a grin and I try not to feel sick. Laslo has his hair slicked back in a ponytail today, exposing his chiseled face to all. I can understand anyone who may see him as attractive. He definitely isn’t ugly, but there is something about him that rubs me the wrong way. Laslo reaches up to touch my face, but I take a quick step back. He chuckles and puts his hand down. “We should go out some time.” The last thing I would want to do is go out wit

  • His Savior   The Party

It's been two weeks and it seems like Zahara and Cory are getting closer. They try to keep it from being obvious, but I have eyes and ears everywhere. I've been trying to figure out how to get Zahara to go for me, but nothing has worked. I talk to her everyday, but she is really standoffish. She is very polite, don’t get me wrong, but she doesn’t go beyond that. Hopefully, this party tonight can change things. The upperclassmen are hosting a party since we are getting closer to the end of the school year. I may have made sure that Zahara was, for sure, going to be in attendance. One good thing about being the future Alpha is that I’m able to get people to do things for me. The hosts of the party were more than happy to make sure that they convinced Zahara to attend the party. Now it’s on me to get her to see me as I want her to. I arrive at the party when it’s already in full swing. I don't want to make a spectacle of showing up or being there early. I w

  • His Savior   Anger and Abuse

~Laslo~ FUCK! What the hell just happened? How did I lose control like that? I wanted her!I know Nero, but not like that. How can I come back from that? Nero growls in my mind and throws the block up. I did not intend to touch her. I just…..I just couldn’t help myself. The way she looked under the moonlight; it was just too much to take in. Then, when she fought me, what the fuck?! I won’t let anyone put their hands on me no matter what! Thankfully, she didn’t see who I was. I should be able to pursue her still and she will never know it was me who attacked her. I jumped into my car and headed home, still pissed about the entire situation. When I got home, I was still pissed and figured a run might help. I run into the house to take my clothes off. Before I make it to the stairs, I run into that loser. Cory knocks into me and drops to the floor on his ass. He grunts in pain and looks up at me. When he realizes who I am, the fear that appears in his eyes is unden

  • His Savior   Finishing the Year

~Zahara~ The rest of the weekend went by in a blur. Lennox got me home that night and helped me get settled. He sent warriors to the house, but they came up empty. There were no clues to find and the guy had long disappeared. I had nightmares that night; the guy went a lot further than he actually got and ended up killing me when he was finished. I woke in a cold sweat, thanking the Moon Goddess that things didn’t get that far. Saturday, I had to sit down and tell my parents what happened. Dad was apoplectic; ready to scorch the Earth because of what happened to me even though it didn’t completely happen. My mom was a blubbering mess and kept talking about me switching back to my old school. My parents were shocked when I refused. I know it sounds crazy, but I have no idea who this person was. There is no guarantee that this person was even from my school. It could have been someone that was walking along or someone who has been out of school. I don’t even know who

  • His Savior   Alpha Training

*One Year Later*~Laslo~ This year at Alpha training has been tough but rewarding. Well rewarding in terms of beautiful women. There are daughters of Alphas here that are doing their Luna training. I have been able to sample some of the new prospects. I haven’t found my mate yet and I’m enjoying the unchained life. I have also met a few future Alpha’s that may be good to have an alliance with in the future, but I’m in no rush. I don’t exactly play well with others. We just finished a day full of combat training and it was tough. We are in the dining hall, enjoying dinner. “Hey, did you guys hear about next week?” I look up and notice Jesse sitting down at the table. He is a decent guy, but is only a back up with his older brother being the future Alpha. He said his parents wanted him to get the training during the summer just to have something under his belt. He just finished his junior year of high school and has started his summer training. “What’s go

  • His Savior   Zahara Meets Laslo.......Again

*One Year Later*~Zahara~ I concluded Alpha training a few months ago. I feel Lennox and I learned a lot over the two years. I’m 20 years old now and will be 21 in three months. I will officially take over the pack from my father when I turn 21. He and I agreed to wait because he isn’t in a rush and wanted me to feel comfortable. He would feel better if I were taking over with my mate, but I haven’t met him yet. I have been taking classes online the past two years, but I still have a way to go. I’m studying Psychology. I feel that would be useful as an Alpha. I will have to deal with other packs as well as rogues and it would be helpful if I can gain insight into other mindsets. We have been called to the Wild Tail Pack and I have no desire to go. It will be my dad, his Beta Simeon, myself, and my future Beta Lennox. The new Alpha of Wild Tail specifically asked for us to visit and dad is thinking that he and I may be able to come up with an alliance. Our packland

  • His Savior   Epilogue

~Third Person~ Four months have passed quickly, and so much has happened. The Wild Tail pack quickly got over the loss of their known leaders. Everyone wasn’t on board with Cory as Alpha, but no one felt strongly enough to voice their opposition. Cory and Zahara made some changes to how the pack treated others as well as how they went about daily life. Cory’s hope was to have everyone feel welcomed and everyone works together to keep the pack going. Even pack members who are against Cory can’t deny the benefits he was bringing to the pack. Cory and Zahara officially take over the Ash Band pack as well. Things continue to go smoothly there as they had before. Flora decided to stay at the Ash Band pack, there being too many negative memories back home. Flora and Maurice found a few common interests and are rarely without each other. The elders took Frankie because of his crimes against his Alphas. Len and Justin were given the opportunity to do better and o

  • His Savior   Tying Up Loose Ends

~Zahara~ Elder Langston had his people take away Margaret and Gunner. He had them get rid of Laslo’s body. There were some wet eyes among the members and a lot of distrusting looks thrown toward Cory. I understand that years-long misinformation can’t be fixed in a matter of minutes, but at some point, they will have to let certain things go. I stay near the stage in case anyone had any questions, but no one is approaching me. Cory is off speaking with Elder Langston while his people take care of the cleanup. This entire situation has been crazy but necessary in the end. There is no way that Cory and I could enjoy our future with any of this hanging over our heads. I hate that Cory had to lose so much, but I will be sure to try to make up for it for the rest of our lives. I notice Lennox sitting in a chair, leaning back, looking up at the sky. He has been quiet since we returned, and I’m not sure what’s going on. I should probably talk to him, but before I

  • His Savior   Punishment Carried Out

~Cory~ I have to say, as surprised as I am, I'm ecstatic for Cyrus. He is a good guy and has always tried his hardest to do right by my dad and me. I'm glad that he finally gets to have his happiness. As great as all that is, it's time to face the crowd. Zahara and I walk outside so we can address the pack. They were told to meet for an announcement, and it seems that everyone has gathered. It's hard to look out into the crowd. I have known everyone here for some time, and they haven't been the best to me. Some of the pack has treated me indifferently, not really doing anything against me or helping me. Others got their jollies from treating me horribly, and I will never forget that. Zahara and I stand off to the side, surveying the group. Lennox and Elder Langston are standing on the small stage that was put up for this. We are in the back of the packhouse, where there is way more space to fit all of the pack members. We watch Bryn and Cyrus walk by, wea

  • His Savior   New Mates

~Zahara~ Cory is so much stronger than he realizes. He keeps getting thrown curve balls, but he rises above and makes it out the other side. I’m not sure how I would have handled all that Cory has had to deal with. We sorted through the presented evidence, which is all compelling. Elder Langston has gone through it and has alerted the other elders. Everyone now knows what happened to former Alpha Brian Williams, and it’s tragic, to say the least. He picked a woman who he felt would make a good chosen mate. He accepted her son and treated him as his own. The minute he brought in his own son, there was an issue, though. From the information we gathered, it looks like they decided to end the Alpha’s life because of Cory because Cory exists. His existence is a reminder that the Alpha created a child with someone else. The thing about it is that he met his fated mate. The fact that they didn’t immediately choose each other is a testament to his loyalty and se

  • His Savior   They Did It

~Cory~ I’m so so tempted to end him right here and right now. Laslo is passed out, and it would take nothing for me to snap his neck this way or even rip his throat out. A hand into his chest, going for the heart, would work as well. Something in me is telling me that isn’t the way to go, that I need to be better about this. I let Laslo drop to the floor and get some warriors to fit him with silver chains so he can be transported back. Nona is still holding onto my mate, and it's a bit troublesome. I want nothing more than to rip her from Nona and truly show her how much I missed her. It is a struggle to hold myself back at this moment, but I really don’t have much choice. “What are you going to do with him?” Nona is using a whispered voice. A part of me doesn’t understand why she should care, but then again, it makes sense. They were fated mates, and that is something hard to turn off. Yes, they rejected each other, but those feelings can still linger to

  • His Savior   Let Go

~Cory~ Laslo came at me quickly, throwing his fist at my face, but I was able to dodge it. That didn’t deter him, as he threw an elbow back and was able to connect with my ear. We kept going like this; Laslo coming at me and me dodging his attacks. Laslo quickly became angered and shifted into his wolf. I spent some time fighting his wolf in human form, and that seemed to anger him even more. I have never been in a position to fight back or to defend myself before, Laslo always having an advantage over me. Now I know who I was always meant to be, and that isn’t someone who is supposed to be a punching bag. Once I shift into my wolf, things get more interesting. Laslo is coming at me again and again while I try my hardest to cut him off. I want to end him, but I don’t want it to be quick. There is no enjoyment if he isn’t able to fight back a bit. Laslo is fighting back. He continues to swipe at me, and each connection is a new sting. I can feel

  • His Savior   Find Nona

~Zahara~ Laslo left the room quickly, and that propelled me to try to get out of these restraints. I have to get myself free before Laslo comes back, or I’m sure that he will try to finish what he started. I don’t know how long he’ll be gone, so time is of the essence. I twist and pull, trying my hardest to loosen up the ropes around my wrists. These ropes seem to be expertly tied. The ropes are as tight as when I first got there. Damn, I wish I had Aria right now. I could be out of this quickly by just extending a claw and slashing the ropes. I shake that thought out of my head and focus on the task at hand. The hallways are filled with the sounds of people crying and screaming. I want to know who’s attacking. Maybe it’s actually my pack; if it is, I know I will be out of here soon. If it isn’t my pack, I need to get free, so I can defend myself if needed, but these damn ropes won’t budge. GRRRRRRR! I can hear screams, ‘stop

  • His Savior   Where is He?

~Laslo ~ “We’re under attack.” “FROM WHO?!” I growl out, shaking the cave and causing dust and pebbles to rain on our heads. “I…..I….I’m nnn…nnot sssssssure.” Pathetic! I push past the weak wolf with the intent of seeing what the hell is going on. I turn to Zahara, seeing her bent at the waist and breathing heavily. “We will finish this later.” I head down the hall and watch people running back and forth in front of me. I have no idea who is attacking, but I plan to find out. “Laslo!” I see my mom at the cave entrance, and she looks distraught. “What the hell is going on, mom?” She looks outside the cave, at me, and back again. “It’s Ash Band. They found us.” I growl ferociously, and those around me still look fearful. “Take care of Nona and Zahara. I will handle this; it won’t take long.” I can’t believe that weak fucker actually found me and came out here. What did he expect would happen if we met

  • His Savior   I'd Rather Die.....

Time went by fast but slowly at the same time. I tried to sleep and eat, but the anxiety of what's to come took over. I'm beyond ready to start this because I will have my mate back when it's over. I will be able to breathe again once I get my mate back. I head downstairs and out the door to meet with everyone else. Lennox is waiting for me with Elder Langston, Beta Cyrus, and a bunch of our warriors. We have a plan and are ready to go with it. It will take us about 45 minutes to get to the area of caves. We plan to travel in three groups and come from different angles. The plan is to take the site with as little bloodshed as possible. The only blood I want spilling is Laslo's, and I want to take care of it myself. We divide into groups, and half of us in each group shift into our wolves. The rest of us get on all-terrain vehicles to back us up. They will stop a bit away from the area and pick up anyone who tries to flee. We start to run, and I
