It has been two days since the perimeter breach and the surprise response from Athinai set Titan land into rolling motion.
The elite guards commenced their guard at all parts of Titan borders and went ahead to recruit more guards, which surprisingly, worked as there were more men and women every morning who willingly volunteered to be guards. The news on Poppy was positive, albeit, her attempt at recovery was slow, but the last time I saw her, her skin didn't look all that pale, however she still looked like she was deep in slumber. Ted on the other hand was less hostile, but hadn't uttered words of apology to Aiden or any other person and that was okay. We let him handle his grief his way. What was more interesting however, was that Titan land was on a roll in preparing a welcome feast for the Luna and said ruler of Athinai. Erin and Sarla had gushed about her, with extra emphasis on the fact that she never sided with any pack during war and was always ne"You straight?"A voice cut through my thought, getting me back to the wake of reality.Looking up, my eyes met a gorgeous clearskinned woman. Pretty eyes, full lips, full curls and all.She looked kind, but she was still a stranger."Yeah." I said non-committal, going back to nurse the rum and coke I'd long ordered. The Randy club was fully packed with warm bodies, strobe lights and the addictive smell of cologne and alcohol. In other words, everywhere was abuzz with life and may I add, hot. However, I was dead cold.Cold and alone as I stared at him get cozy with two blondes who in return, were all up on him.Funny how he'd done this over and over again and all I had to do was suck it all up like a champ. He said it helped him cope with his sanity whenever we argued and I'd given him a go-ahead order because in the end, he always found his way back to me.But that didn't help the bitter feeling that was engraved in my heart anytime my eyes met him.It was gut wrenching and degrading
I woke up in pain. There was a painful throbbing at the back of my head. Almost like a sledgehammer was ramming into my head continuously.I winced, trying to sit up but the pain contrasted mercilessly, almost causing me to cry out in pain."Woah woah, easy there." A frantic voice said in total alertness, drawing to my side. It was feminine and vaguely familiar."Ava? Can you hear me?" The voice asked.I tried to sit up, but the pain held me back."Yes." I let out defeatedly.I felt the bed begin to slowly rise, causing me to sit up."I got you." The voice said, sounding closer than it was. Finally comfortable, I let open my eyes. The first thing I noticed was that, I was in a totally unfamiliar room and my throat felt like ant holes were dug in them whenever I swallowed.I turned to face the person who had helped me and immediately recognition dawned on me."Hi." I didn't know her name, but I knew her from somewhere. "Where am I?"She smiled, her full curls framing her face."Let's s
Are you sure you can't stay for one more day Ava?" Aiden's voice was calm yet, his eyes was sending bolts of raw emotions my way. I shook out the thought. "I really can't. I have a test tomorrow." I offered him a small smile. "And besides, I've been freeloading so much. I can't take your kindness for granted." "Nonsense." He disagreed calmly. "I'm not complaining Ava. And as for your test, I could drive you to school the next day. As early as you want." Seriously, the offer as tempting as it sounded didn't hinder my sensible thoughts from surfacing. I was finding it a little hard focusing, in Aiden's presence. It felt like my senses were all at alert. Each eye contact, each brush of our skin always set my body on fire. I felt such strong pull to him that felt maddening and safe at the same time. Something old Avalon Tanner would have taken advantage of. She would have trusted him easily along with the overwhelming feelings, add the part that he'd saved her from being a possible
"Sure." He cleared his throat again. "I could order Uberfoods if you can't wait." "Wait for?" He smiled bashfully. Looking anywhere but me. "I was going to make us lunch." I almost fought the urge to coo. Could he get any hotter? How he was all confident alpha male before eventually flipping to this shy gentleman in seconds did things to me. I couldn't deal much longer. Could he stop being so goddamn perfect? I was going to lose my mind. "You were going to do that?" He nodded, his shy smile still in place. "I enjoy eating the things I make Ava." I could see why. He had perfect cooking skills. I could tell from the way I'd practically done justice to the English breakfast he'd prepared me in the morning. "I can wait Aiden." He beamed. "Great! I was planning on preparing something delicious." I grinned, feeling warmth spread through my whole body. "You did?" "Yeah." "Wha
I swallowed. Not missing the innuendo in his words.God, it sounded quite tempting in my ears and overall. What would it take to completely let go and surrender to Aiden. Even if it was a one time thing? Sure it wouldn't hurt that much. But then senses kicked in. It was barely days since my unofficial split with Scott. That was a lesson learned the hard way and I'd be damned to take another one.I shook out the thoughts. Going back to watching Aiden who now worked quietly. Like he noticed my internal dilemma and was giving me space to sort my shit.Maybe in another life or another time. I would completely lose myself in someone like Aiden. Scott had given me a wake-up call. All promises and words could mean a lot when they were all vain words to the person saying them. And nothing hurt more than that. Knowing you were lied to, constantly and had fallen for a well crafted lie. Even the pieces of your broken heart were unable to be picke
Aiden was bleeding. That was the single thought that ran through my mind as the GPS announced that we were at the right location. The part was nearly tarred like something you could see in a countryside movie. Little identical houses and pretty picket fences. But I merely had the time to appreciate the view when all I could think of was Aiden, bleeding to death.I couldn't live it down if it happened. And I couldn't let it happen. Not after he'd saved my life just days ago.I realized my cellphone wasn't with me as I searched around.I cussed out. I was doomed."Aiden?" I called loudly, seeing his beautiful skin pale drastically before me. "We're here. What should I do?"I was a mess. Never been so helpless before."Asher." He muttered weakly. "He's coming."I was confused. I didn't know who Asher was or what he meant. All I knew was that he, Aiden was in danger. He'd gotten quite a number of bullet wounds
He too looked over six feet and more as he towered over the people he passed. For once, I felt myself feel a little relieved when I saw the casual look on his face."Layla?" He called when he got to where we stood, enveloping Layla in a tight hug that lasted for a few minutes."How is he?" Layla inquired and I noticed his hands were still around her and he had a soft and warm expression on his face."How are you?" Asher asked instead.Layla shrugged. "How I'm feeling isn't that important Ash. How's my brother.""The bullets have been taken out." He informed, while I let out a relieved breath. "There's only one silver bullet," he further informed, causing Layla's eyes to widen in horror."A silver bullet?!" She almost screamed.Causing my insides to react in alarm too. I hardly understood what was happening. But I knew what he just uttered meant that Aiden was probably in danger."Calm down love. It's been tak
I cleared my throat as we continued to walk the hallway, while she waited for my answer."He is great." I finally answered dumbly.Layla let out a chuckle as she came to take my arms into hers. "So we are keeping it PG are we?""Uh, no it's not like that." I was embarrassed to the bones.I'd taken my time thinking about Aiden and all the ways I thought of him, just to give her a three worded, vague answer."Aiden is so much more than great to you Ava." She nudged me teasingly. "I'm sure you felt it."I blushed beetroot red, clearing my throat."It's okay love." She assured. Certainly off teasing me for a while. "I'm not making you uncomfortable, am I?"I shook my head quickly. "No. Not at all."She smiled. "I'm glad. You see Ava, I like you, a lot. As a friend who feels like a sister in some way and whatever else you want to be."Whatever else I want to be?I couldn't help but feel her words had
