Aiden was bleeding.
That was the single thought that ran through my mind as the GPS announced that we were at the right location.
The part was nearly tarred like something you could see in a countryside movie. Little identical houses and pretty picket fences. But I merely had the time to appreciate the view when all I could think of was Aiden, bleeding to death.
I couldn't live it down if it happened. And I couldn't let it happen.
Not after he'd saved my life just days ago.
I realized my cellphone wasn't with me as I searched around.
I cussed out. I was doomed.
"Aiden?" I called loudly, seeing his beautiful skin pale drastically before me. "We're here. What should I do?"
I was a mess. Never been so helpless before.
"Asher." He muttered weakly. "He's coming."
I was confused. I didn't know who Asher was or what he meant.
All I knew was that he, Aiden was in danger. He'd gotten quite a number of bullet wounds
He too looked over six feet and more as he towered over the people he passed. For once, I felt myself feel a little relieved when I saw the casual look on his face."Layla?" He called when he got to where we stood, enveloping Layla in a tight hug that lasted for a few minutes."How is he?" Layla inquired and I noticed his hands were still around her and he had a soft and warm expression on his face."How are you?" Asher asked instead.Layla shrugged. "How I'm feeling isn't that important Ash. How's my brother.""The bullets have been taken out." He informed, while I let out a relieved breath. "There's only one silver bullet," he further informed, causing Layla's eyes to widen in horror."A silver bullet?!" She almost screamed.Causing my insides to react in alarm too. I hardly understood what was happening. But I knew what he just uttered meant that Aiden was probably in danger."Calm down love. It's been tak
I cleared my throat as we continued to walk the hallway, while she waited for my answer."He is great." I finally answered dumbly.Layla let out a chuckle as she came to take my arms into hers. "So we are keeping it PG are we?""Uh, no it's not like that." I was embarrassed to the bones.I'd taken my time thinking about Aiden and all the ways I thought of him, just to give her a three worded, vague answer."Aiden is so much more than great to you Ava." She nudged me teasingly. "I'm sure you felt it."I blushed beetroot red, clearing my throat."It's okay love." She assured. Certainly off teasing me for a while. "I'm not making you uncomfortable, am I?"I shook my head quickly. "No. Not at all."She smiled. "I'm glad. You see Ava, I like you, a lot. As a friend who feels like a sister in some way and whatever else you want to be."Whatever else I want to be?I couldn't help but feel her words had
I felt it before I could open my eyes. Someone was staring at me. I stilled in bed, by head nestled in the billowing pillows. My heart began beating wildly. With the series of nightmares I had last night and my constant inability to properly sleep, I felt I was yet in another nightmare. I still felt the eyes on me which urged me to find out who."Ava?" The familiar voice called and I stilled again. It can't be.He can't be the one calling my name in this very room. But then I sat up and was met by his face.Aiden was sitting by my bedstand, looking at me.Wide eyed and confused, a scream tore through my mouth before I could process things.Aiden was quick to come to the bed. "Are you okay Ava? What's wrong? Are you hurt?"I recoiled, moving away from him.How was it possible that Aiden was in the room before me. Looking like yesterday's incident never happened. Was I really dreaming?"A
I'd always wondered what it felt like to be left completely speechless and dumbfounded. The revelations I'd received had been the perfect spot-on experience. I hadn't only learnt that werewolves existed, but that I was also this werewolf's mate. Seriously, it was a crazy world we lived in. Who knew my life could go from boring and almost non-existent boring college life to one worth a fantasy movie. I'd never imagined I could be living this sort of life. A life where every little second or minute was unpredictable. I was currently standing beside Aiden's car, a red Royce Roll that stood among the various cars in the large garage, unable to make eye contact with him. The last fourty eight hours has been a speeding Mack truck of events to me. But surprisingly, I'd handled myself and managed to keep my cool. Bearing in mind one too many things. I was a normal young adult living a normal life who has hopefully, minimal drea
"Honestly," I continued. "If it were under different circumstances, I would be happy to be your mate. But I have duties this time. Duties to myself. I come first and I am going to try my best to inculcate that into my mind. And until that is done, I do not think that I will be emotionally available for anyone.""I respect your decision Ava." He said after a while.I offered him a small smile. "Thank you.""I don't know how long it is going to take for you to build yourself Ava. But, whenever you are ready, I hope you consider me and I want to let you know that I'll wait if you will have me."His sincere words warmed my heart.Really, Aiden was such a gentleman. Most times, he seemed so good to be true. And I had only known him for a few hours.Ma
I wasn't sure I did well in my biophysics test. And that would have bugged me into restlessness as soon as I submitted my paper. But that was the least troubling thought I was battling. All I could think of and found hard to process was that I was in danger and was partially on the run.I'd never had a reason to hide or even, feel endangered before. My constant troubles since I lost my parents was how to pass a test, an exam and how to juggle my part-time jobs in order to make time for Grandma and my studies. Now, my worries weren't in any way basic. Rather I was worried about some unknown wolf desperate to have my head on a spike.Although Aiden had asked me to move in with him till I was finally safe and I had agreed, I still found it all to be new. At first, it felt like it was merely a joke or even, a bad dream that I was bound to wake up from. But the look on Aiden's face had husked out such thought. It was merely a joke. I was in
I loved new Ava.Was all I could think about even as some students stared at me as I walked out on Scott. I was so proud of what I had done. So proud that I stood up for myself and owned my actions.I did not know how I was going to be from now on. Obviously, there would be psychological and emotional consequences of all Scott had done to me and I would have no other choice than to face them and I would, head on, with my head held high because I had done the the critical part which is facing Scott head on and getting rid of him.Outside, the afternoon sun was just making an appearance. Warming up the whole place in the process.I felt a smile blossom on my lips. Even the weather was on my side.A car honked immediately, catching my attention.Just across the road, the red Royce Rolls was pulled up, its open windows, letting me get a he
The saying; What would be, would be has never been more befitting of my situation. I was back to the same place I'd been so adamant on leaving in the first place. Back to seeing the beautifully lined rolls of houses and the large mansion that was Aiden's home. Now that I was seeing it in broad daylight, it felt so charming and very pleasing to my eager eyes. The large building dwarfed the other buildings in a pretty fitting way, like a king stood over his subordinates easily, without taking away the charm of the pretty lined houses. The tarred lanes and beautifully trimmed flowers which stood aesthetically in a row took my breath with it . Everywhere was beautiful and calming. A stark contrast to the normal chaos I was used to living in. It was like this world was a whole different one from the one I lived in. The air was fresh and devoid of any sort of pollution. The grasses seemed greener and livelier and the surrounding was emitting an easy
It has been two days since the perimeter breach and the surprise response from Athinai set Titan land into rolling motion. The elite guards commenced their guard at all parts of Titan borders and went ahead to recruit more guards, which surprisingly, worked as there were more men and women every morning who willingly volunteered to be guards. The news on Poppy was positive, albeit, her attempt at recovery was slow, but the last time I saw her, her skin didn't look all that pale, however she still looked like she was deep in slumber. Ted on the other hand was less hostile, but hadn't uttered words of apology to Aiden or any other person and that was okay. We let him handle his grief his way. What was more interesting however, was that Titan land was on a roll in preparing a welcome feast for the Luna and said ruler of Athinai. Erin and Sarla had gushed about her, with extra emphasis on the fact that she never sided with any pack during war and was always ne
If terror hung in the air seconds ago, it was nothing compared to the chaotic mess that was Soul Kitchen at the moment.Ever since Ted, Poppy's boyfriend made his way into the diner and saw his girlfriend in a pale mess, he had totally lost it. Now, we watched on, with Freya and Kate still bawling their eyes out, as the elite guards tried to calm the raging teenager down."She's not dead Ted," Sarla's sweet voice tried to reason as Ben and Eric held the boy down. "She's going to be alright okay? Just calm down.""Were you all waiting for something to happen before you swing into action?" He sneered, before casting a glare Aiden's way. "Or will your useless asses wait for someone to die before the Alpha decides to take action!"Asher took a step forward at his words, but Aiden held him back. "I know you are grieving boy. However, I won't condole it if you talk brashly at the Alpha."Ted scoffed, his sandy blonde hair looking so dishevelled
"What?" I asked Aiden who had his eyes glued to my every move as he walked me to my shift at Soul Kitchen. The smile was still dancing on his lips as he took my hands into his, obliviously playing with my fingers. "We should do this often.""You mean go for long walks?" I asked, as he now swayed our hands back and forth. He paused, looking as if he was contemplating on my words. "That too. But I'm talking about visiting the beauty house."I nodded immediately, concurring with him while we shared a smile. "That is definitely a great idea."I loved moments spent with Aiden like this. Everything felt so normal. I'm not speaking about the fact that he is a Werewolf. I'm talking about the whole problem with Colossus or a possible rogue pack that is out for blood. The little time we spent together today has taken my mind off things, I hope it has done same for Aiden. Somehow, I don't even know how it started, but seeing Aiden happy also puts me in a good mood. It was like telepathy. If Aid
Whoever said having a massage was a vain thing, surely hasn't tried it before.I sat beside Aiden on a lounge chair at the waiting room of the clothing store, feeling like a big sack of jelly. Aiden on the other hand looked perfectly fine as he gazed at me with an amused expression.I guess he had perks of being a Werewolf and all that. However, this massage felt like one of the best things ever. I felt like every knot on my body has been loosened and my body was floating on air.I could feel no cramps and it felt like I had a good sleep on a very comfortable bed. My lingering headaches were gone and I hoped that Aiden got the same feeling too.The past week was very stressful for him and part of the reason why I suggested we get on the massage chair was because he really needed to de-stress."You feeling any changes in your body?" I asked as I took him in.He smiled, eyes not straying from mine as he nodded. "Definitely."We he
Meeting Aiden and coming to Titan land, there were two things I had learnt; life was sure full of surprises.I couldn't hold back my gasp as I stared at the sight before me. A building made totally of glass that wasn't translucent but was aesthetically pleasing, divided into segments that had colorful neon signs indicating what each segment was for.Above the tall building was a beautiful, silver carved sign that read. TITAN BEAUTY HOUSE.I couldn't stop myself from giggling as I felt giddy with excitement. I never knew a place like this existed in Titan land. It looked like something out of a Disney movie. Sparkling and really pleasing to the eyes."I like it!" I let out without being asked, while Aiden took my hands into his, once more."You haven't even seen the best part yet love." He assured as we made our way in.A fruity and refreshing smell greeted me as we walked in, which had me taking in a deep breath. It smelt like paradise in there."Good day Alpha." A Raven haired beauty
My heart was still beating loudly as I stared at Aiden who was busy talking to one of the workers at the plantation.Did I get to have my long overdue tour of Titan? Yes.Did I get to talk about the toe curling kiss I shared with Aiden in his room moments ago? No.All I got was another toe curling smile that did not go easy with its effects on my heart and that darn line."I've been wanting to do that." Who says things like that after a toe curling, heartstring pulling kiss and just acts like nothing happened. Instead, he had taken my hand and had gone ahead to assure that he always kept his promise. Thus, here we are, the same place I had stood with Gus weeks ago. The only difference is that Aiden was being thorough. He was making sure that the patient farmer would answer my every question thoroughly. That was the least of my concerns though. The tight shirt accentuating his body had me salivating and the way his jeans hugged his ass. From my view, Aiden looked like he was carved an
I waited for what felt like eons in my room after grabbing a nice picnic basket and arranged cookies, fruits and drinks in them.Lory had figured out my plan even before I said a thing.I planned on making Aiden de-stress.This past week had been one hell of a ride for everyone on Titan, but especially for him. That was why I wanted to help him take his mind off Colossus, rogue packs or whatever it is that was stressing Titan.I didn't know my way around Titan that much. Only soul kitchen, the hackberry tree and the plantation Gus had shown. This time, I was going to use two stones for one bird. Get my very much awaited tour of Titan and get Aiden to de-stress.When I heard voices coming from the corridor, I knew that Aiden was done with the guards, so I waited for every one of them to finish leaving before I made my way to Aiden. After waiting for what felt like forever and no other sound was heard from the corridor, I made my way to
"I should go." I voiced once Asher left, probably to give Aiden and I space.Aiden shook his head, while his arms still held on to me. "You know you can stay right."I let out an amused laugh. "As much as I like being in your arms Aiden, I wouldn't like anyone listening to you address them while we are in this position."There wasn't a response for a bit till, "You like being in my arms?"Of course, I almost groaned. Of all things I said, that was all he heard."Say it again love. You love being in my arms?" I was already beetroot at the moment.Playfully, I struggled to free Aiden off me while his body began shaking as he chuckled, probably finding my bashfulness amusing."I want to hear you say it again, love." He teased, slowly releasing me as he took in my face.I scrunched my nose, trying but failing
It has been a week since Aiden and I sent out invites to the neighbouring Packs and yet, we haven't gotten any feedbacks. We were all bothered, especially Aiden. Try as he might, he always appeared cool and calculating in the presence of his Pack, always wearing the strong and assuring facade because he has to make his Pack feel assured that everything was under control. However, I knew that all was not well with Aiden. The run-ins on the people of Titan keep on increasing and so far, a lockdown has been placed. The elite guards with their soldiers were at alert all the time, making sure that all bounderies were secured and that the people of Titan were safe.I was in Aiden's home office as I tried to listen through the tiny speakers of my airpods, as my biology lecturer further explained the workings of human cells. I knew I was paying little to no attention to what he was saying. My mind was drifting to the man at the other side of the room who was wearing a s
