A few minutes after Serene had entered the kitchen, a light aroma filled the kitchen and flowed into the living room. Steve inhaled that sweet savory scent and raised his head, he subconsciously looked in the direction where the smell could be traced from. The last time he smelt something so good was before his last housekeeper retired. He felt a great urge to step into the kitchen to see for himself what the woman was cooking but he controlled the urge and sat still. He tried to ignore the scent that filled his nose by reading through his emails but his stomach could not help but let out an embarrassing groan. From the look of things, it seemed he had not eaten anything good lately and the good smell of whatever Serene was cooking was making his mouth water. He cleared his throat and picked up the cup of coffee that had already turned cold. He stared at the content but did not drink from it at all. He set the cup aside and leaned back into his chair. He crossed his legs and pushed
"What took you so long?" Steve could not help but ask the moment that Serene reappeared again. Serene stopped walking, she assumed that the man was displeased and she apologized immediately. "I am sorry," Hearing her apologize for the umpteenth time that day caused him to rub his forehead in exasperation. He was not offended at all but she just did not get it. He waved her off and allowed her to enter the kitchen. This time around he was quite hungry. He was already seated at the dining table by the time Serene brought the dishes. She did not cook much that day and had only made random dishes since she did not know the man's taste and choices. He picked up his cutleries to begin eating while she stood by and watched. Just as he was about to start eating, he caused and dripped his cutlery. Then, he turned in her direction. "What are you standing for? Are you not going to eat too?" He questioned her. "Oh…" Serene was stunned, she didn't know that she was permitted to eat too. She
Serene was slightly irritated after the car from Amelia but it only lasted for a home t before she picked up her phone again and dialed a number. The call soon connected and she pressed the cell phone to her ear. "Hey" she muttered. "Gosh, Rene! Where have you been all day?" Paige's voice sounded very loud when she answered. It was almost like she was yelling, trying to let her voice sound above the noisy background. It sounded like she was currently in a club. "I have tried your number like a hell hundred times today but you did not answer the call! If I was not busy on set, I would have gone to your apartment and when I eventually checked the hospital after my job ended, you never went there either! You have no idea how worried sick I was!" Although it was quite busy where Paige was, she spoke very loudly that Serene was able to understand everything that she said. Serene pinched her phone tightly and thought that she had also not planned for the direction her day went that day.
Steve's POVI had just read through the information that James sent me that evening and it took a while before I eventually concluded the data and sent it to our partner. I am certain that this project will bring a good deal to the company and my grandfather would be proud. I finished signing the last document in front of me and I stood up. Hopefully, tomorrow, I will ask my secretary to retrieve the information needed to deal with the other project in Milan. For some reason, I feel tired and just wanted to stay in the comfort of my bed and have a good rest until the next morning. I left my study and walked in the direction of my bedroom. Somehow, I just get this feeling as I walked that I was forgetting something but I just could not lay my finger on what it was. I threw the thoughts to the back of my head and kept on walking until I reached the bedroom. I entered my room naturally, of course, that was because I owned the place but, the next minute, I heard a person's voice that m
Steve's POV continuation. I looked away from her and turned around to go to the bathroom. I really could not even tell why I could not put away the stupid smile on my face. It was as though I was in love… Of course, I cannot say this to anyone and it would only dwell in my heart however, I had a lot to do. If she remains here, I don't know if I will be able to control myself in her presence. If things cannot be controlled any longer, I must have to reconsider my marriage with the other woman. I thought to myself. Others might not know this but I only had a ceremonial form of marriage with her, we did not have any legal agreement between us yet. This thought calmed me and I swiftly took my bath. I returned to the room after my bath and by the time I reached the room, the woman was already asleep and she still had the lights on. She sleeps pretty fast, I thought to myself. I changed into my night robe and looked for a spare duvet in the closet. I rearranged the sofa in the room to f
Serene woke up the next morning, she opened her eyes gentle, she felt an unnecessary earth surrounding her and she turned her lips. She wanted to raise her hand but she noticed that she could not. She blinked and only then did her eyes become cleared. She jumped up and that action woke the man up. Steve opened his eyes and found the woman staring– no, it was more like she was glaring icicles at him. She grabbed the cover cloth and hugged it close to her body. She pointed at him and did not say anything for a moment. It was as though she had list her voice. "You–" she blurted and almost jabbed his face with her finger. If he did not mixed his face away from her hand, she might really pluck out his eyes if he was not alert. "What is the problem, woman" Steve uttered in a deep sleepy voice. He even seemed like he had not woken up properly yet. He glanced at the woman who was in his bed and glaring at him dangerously. He could not help but raise his brows. "What are you doing on my be
Serene walked hurriedly away from him when she was through with eating, she did not even look at him or meet his gaze. Even when he came to drip his plate in the kitchen, she just grabbed it from him and apologized before she asked him to leave. She had always been that way from a young age and if paige saw her acting so weirdly, when would not be so surprised. Serena was a kind if person that also felt guilty easily, whenever she did something that was wrong or harmed others, she would be quick to accept her fault and apologized but it took her a while to face the person she offended. Although she was like this, she also had a very sharp tongue when anyone offended. She did not know how to sit still in the face of cheating. She was innocently dumb and could be easily cheated but she would never take it lying down either. There was a time when she was in high school with Paige, they would be bullied by others but she would always bite those that bullied her back through different m
Serene who had entered the coffee shop came out not long after she entered, she looked around and saw that the car had already left. She turned around and walked away from the shop. She had noticed his the young man was staring at her and it gave her discomforts. She wonder why people liked to look at her in that manner. She did not call Paige immediately and first went to the psychiatric hospital that her mother was being looked after. She checked in at the counter of the clinic and walked through the corridor with familiarity. Of course, she was very familiar with the setting, she had visited the place for more than three years since her mother was brought there. She had always come here alone to check on her mother. After all, her brother was sick and her father was not attentive to them. The man only remembered he had a family when he was in debt and wanted money from her. In the last before her mother took ill, it was the woman who had always provided for the family. Actually,
