BALIN

Marilyn is one stubborn mermaid. Mermaids are usually calm and find it hard to refute, but then Marilyn is just too different. I never expected her to stand her ground on her decision today. I'm angry and worried about her, the trial she has signed up for is one that even the strongest she-wolf failed to survive. And the cunning elders didn't tell her that she had to reject me as her mate if she fails, which is my greatest fear. Finding her took too long and I can't bear to face the rejection and worst of all end up with some annoying she-wolf that wins the trial. Marilyn is one naive mermaid. She might not know this. The elders have no intention of making her Luna. They will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn't win the trial. They will recruit the best female warriors, the smart she-wolves just to make sure that she doesn't survive the trial. This is all I'm trying to shield her from, but then she doesn't understand nor did she intend to hear me out.

  • His Mate From the Sea   puppet spell

DAMIEN Earlier today, I was alerted by some unknown person. How the person managed to mind link me is something I can’t explain even to this moment. It is nearly impossible for an ordinary wolf to mind link an Alpha. But then this unknown wolf was able to. I’m confident that the person wasn't a high-ranking wolf but an ordinary wolf, if not an omega, but then how he was able to speak to me baffled me even more. I wouldn’t have listened to the mind link or done anything of the things he said. But then he mentioned that Balin was going to cheat on Marilyn that day, which enraged me and without a second thought, I dragged my chauffeur into the car and ordered him to speed to the Bold Bite Pack. Even though there was no restriction of movement anywhere in the entire Pack, I knew driving directly to Balin’s mansion would mean war. I didn’t want that yet. So I hung around while making sure that none of his pack members recognized me. It wasn’t even up to 30 minutes, when Marilyn almost ran

  • His Mate From the Sea   Luna Ceremony

ONE MONTH LATER BLACK SHADOW PACK MARILYN "Come on, cowards, can't you take down a mermaid?" I growl and charge at my trainees, who were cowering at a corner, afraid of stepping forward to fight me. "Why do you keep training with the kids? If you really think you are strong and all that, come over here and train with us," an annoying voice I have come to hate sounded behind me, making me turn around. There, on the other side of the training ground, was Truce, the Black shadow pack's strongest warrior and my biggest rival. Seeing that he has my attention, he smirks and whispers to other warriors next to him, making them laugh and point degrading fingers at me, making me realize that whatever he had just said was against me. I tried to ignore him and walk away, but he seemed to have other plans. The moment I try to walk past him, he grabs my arm, enraging me. I elbow his rib cage and send a kick down to his groin, making him let go of me immediately. "You bitch from nowhere," he

  • His Mate From the Sea   It's been over a month

ALICIA It’s been a month since I got back to the pack. I have successfully gotten back my position as the pack's doctor, thanks to the intervention of the elders of the empire, who justified all my wrongdoings. They had blamed it on the puppet spell and pressured Balin into giving the position back to me. I never expected him to give in so easily, but then, he was going through a lot and gave in easily. “Miss Alicia,” the maids bow at me the moment I walk past them. Following the elders' instruction, I’m here to make Balin see me as a potential Luna and not just the pack's doctor. “I wonder what the Alpha is still waiting for. That mermaid is gone and never coming back. It's high time he accepts it and makes Miss Alicia the Luna. She is more than qualified for the position,” I heard one of the maids whisper. I listen as others affirm with her, making my head swell with pride. Everyone in the pack sees me as the potential Luna except Balin. But then, I’m not bothered at all. A

MARILYN I stopped in my tracks unsure if I heard right, my heart beating erratically in my chest.“What did you say?” I asked, slowly turning round to look at Damien who sighed and furrowed his brows.“Marilyn…” he began, his voice unsure.“Fucking answer the question!” I yelled at him, my anger tipping over into fury.He scowled at my attitude and shrugged.“You want to know so badly? Fine, Alpha Balin is getting married in a few days! Everyone knows!” He yelled back, his anger rising quickly.I immediately stilled and my heart clenched with fury. He was getting married? Wow, jerk face.Damien seemed to notice the way I became quiet and he sighed.“He's not worth waiting for, Marilyn.” he insisted, taking steps closer to me.I didn't pay him any heed, my eyes seeing red as I thought about the news I just heard.I didn't even realize that Damien was beside me until he tapped me, snapping me out of my daze.“What?” My voice was a whisper and I hated myself for being affected.Damien pu

  • His Mate From the Sea   Three days

BALINThe elder who stood before me was blabbing about the usual nonsense that had become his custom for the past two days reminding me that I only had three more days before they would choose a Luna for me.I have never been more tempted to kill someone of high status. He may be a great elder but this was my pack, he was on my soil and I happened to be the Alpha who made the rules here.“Is there someone yet?” He asked, his voice echoing in the dim roomI leaned back on my chair, my gaze returning to the plate of steak on the table, carefully cutting a piece and stuffing it into my mouth, the spicy taste making me groan.“No,” I answered simply as I cut another piece with the cutlery. His fists clenched by his side, a small gesture which my sharp eyes caught and I smiled to myself. He was probably tired of me. He had been assigned to meet me every day to speak to me and my robotic answers were getting on his nerves already. I had given him the same answer for the last two days and he

  • His Mate From the Sea   Watch your back

ALICIA He looked a bit confused but the confusion soon morphed into a scowl. He didn't look surprised to see me anymore, he looked irritated. I couldn't dwell on that, I had come here for something so his mood didn't really matter to me. It had been a while since the useless mermaid went missing and even though I didn't know where she was, I was going to make sure that she never made it back alive. “Balin,” I said, forcing a smile. He muttered something incoherent under his breath and pushed his empty plate aside. “I don't like visitors when I'm eating” he said gruffly as he stared at me over. I blinked rapidly and tried to keep a passive expression on my face “You're done eating” I noted, my gaze turning to the empty plate on the neatly laid out table. His eyes darkened. “Indeed I am done but what if I hadn't been done eating? You could never have known,” Irritation was clear in his tone at this point and I was beginning to wonder if I had made the right decision by coming

  • His Mate From the Sea   If we sparred

MARILYNIt was already evening, I had spent a long time in my room, staring at my reflection in the mirror. The sound of swords clashing outside made me sigh. The warriors were sparring.I should go join them instead of spending my time here doing nothing but I didn't want to stand up at this moment.Sighing, I reached for the antique black comb on the dresser and gently drove it through my hair, untangling the knots that had formed After brushing it for a few minutes, I set it back on the table and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I didn't look any better than when I was in bold bite pack. There was only one difference. This version of me was stronger and didn't care about the opinion of others. I would prove to them that I was strong.Well if I wasn't going to train this evening, I might as well put my room in order. Standing up, I went to the bed when a knock sounded.“Come in,” I said, irritated. The door was pushed open and a maid walked in noiselessly.“Miss Marilyn,” the

  • His Mate From the Sea   Say it

BALINThere was another knock on the door and this time I knew that it was Aylin and Jarek. I could hear Aylin voice already and she seemed angry about something while jarek just kept replying with “no” “stop” “why?” And it seemed to aggravate her further as her tempo increased with each word.I stared at the door and it flew open to reveal the both of them standing in front of the door, Aylin’s hands crossed around her body while Jarek stared down at her with an irritated look. They seemed a bit shocked at the sudden opening of the door as Aylin just huffed and walked in before jarek sighed and followed her.“I didn't expect you to do that ” Aylin said, her gaze fixed on me.My eyes fell on jarek who just shook his head.Did she say why she wanted to come here?” I mindlinked him.He shook his head before replying. “No.”Aylin looked between me and him then frowned. “I'd rather you ask me your questions Instead of mindlinking your beta,” she said, indignation in her tone.I squinted m

MARILYNHe was still staring at me with that wolfish grin in his eyes.Keiran pinched the bridge of his nose and turned his attention back to the man.“She's been bought” I heard him whisper to the man. There was a scowl on the man's face at that.“Is her master here?” He asked, his voice loud as though he didn't care that I was there. He was rude but for some reason, this wasn't how I envisioned the exiled Alpha to be. Maybe I was mistaken and he just had the same name as the exiled Alpha however Keiran had referred to him as Alpha, no one did that anymore if someone was exiled. They were stripped of their position so it wouldn't make sense if Keiran was doing it “You know I'm right here,” I said lazily. The man let out a smile. “My apologies, sweetheart. I was just going through the necessary details”I sighed and crossed my arms. “I'm not on the list, sir,” I said with an eye raised.A look of surprise flashed in his eyes as though Keiran had not just told him that.“I see. MARILYNI couldn't believe it, I was staring at the exiled Alpha and he… he was also staring at me.Shit.He must have noticed someone's unwavering gaze on him because he slowly turned his head and his eyes landed on me and he frowned, looked me over.I should have looked away but I couldn't and we were just having a staring competition until Keiran got to him bowing before the man removed his gaze from mine and focused on keiran.Dmitri was here to buy a mermaid. weird.Keiran was talking exaggeratedly and I was getting tired of just standing In the same spot so I sighed. Why was I waiting for keiran? I knew the way to the poolIgnoring anyone who looked at me, I strode towards the pool eager to get things over with and leave this placeThe pool looked fairly the same. Nothing much hand changed yet not even the stares that I was given.“Marilyn?!” My name was whispered in shock by several of the mermaids who were clustered around talking before I entered I took a deep breath. MARILYNKeiran spared me a few glances as we walked past some other employees who stopped to gape at me.“Seems everyone is happy to see you” he said, his hand crossed behind him as he glanced at another employee, a silent message passed between them “They cannot be trusted,” Ophelia said in my head.“I know” I whispered to her as though he could hear my thoughts. She muttered something and suddenly she felt distant.“What's happening?” I asked in alarm as she slowly disappeared from my mind.“I'm out. I think I'm done with my job and you're no fun. I'll let Aylin know that you're good. Stay safe, Marilyn. If you need me, you know where to find me” she said, laughter in her tone until she was gone. I couldn't feel her presence anymore.Pity. I thought I was going to get used to her but alas she has a life of her own and it didn't include being in my head all the time.“Thank you” I whispered to no one.Jolting back to reality, I noticed we were now near the pool where the other mermai

BALINDamien was speaking to Kabal in the corner with a frown on his face while his beta attended to me.“Tea or coffee?” The beta asked in a monotone.I slowly dragged my gaze over the man's slender build. “aren't you tired?” I asked in a frustrated tone. His eyes furrowed slightly in confusion. “What is that supposed to mean, Alpha Chris?”“It means that you've asked me that question 9 times in a minute” I said throwing my hands up exasperatedly. His head tilted and his lips parted slightly. “Oh”I rolled my eyes, not bothering to hide the frustration in my voice. “Yeah, I counted” I sneered. He straightened up. “Oh well you didn't answer either way” he also said.“Wasn't that supposed to be your cue to know what that meant?” I snapped at him.He took a step back and sighed. “Very well”I looked back at Damien who was now talking to an elder in his pack but Kabal was no where to be found. Probably gone as usual. Damien looked really pissed off at something as he spoke to the man and

MARILYNThe mermaid foundation was just a stones breath away and I sighed getting down from the bike.“I hate you” I whispered to Ophelia, hoping she could hear the anger in my voice. She tsked.“Oh well at least you learnt something” she said to me.“Yeah, not to trust you” I said sarcastically. There was a brief silence. “But at least you now know some things”“That doesn't change the fact that he cheated” I said stubbornly, leaning on the bike “Did he?” She asked suddenly.I stuck my hands in my pockets and huffed. “You know, for someone who was hell bent on letting him die, you sure as hell want to defend him” I noted.I felt it. Anger. She was angry.“Hell no” she snapped. “I still want him to die”, she said nonchalantly.“Weird because your actions don't actually show that” I reminded her.“Oh well, I… I can't explain myself at this point. Anyways, why are we here?” She asked suddenly changing the topic I looked at the gates that I called home for so long. It was filled with m

  • His Mate From the Sea   Birthing the Devil

BALIN I walked away as briskly as I could before I would do something I'd regret. She was hiding for some reason and even though I wanted to pull her out of her shell, I knew that would only make her more mad at me.I don't know how she managed to be there but not quite there. I couldn't see her but her essence was everywhere, I could feel her, scent her.As I reached the end of the path, my head turned around to look back at the bike. It was gone but the trace of tires on the ground made me smile. She had pushed it away and left. The revv of the engines from afar reached my ears and I wanted to smile. I was agitated, I didn't see her but with so many interactions with her, I was fine already. She soothed my heart. I wanted her back.As I reached the party of my guards and Kabal, I nodded to them“Let's go. Damien must be waiting for us” I said to them.Kabal looked me over and nodded. “Indeed” with that, he dissolved into black dust and disappeared.A guard opened the car door for m

  • His Mate From the Sea   What the fuck

MARILYNHe didn't move his gaze neither did he show like he could see me.I was being paranoid, he couldn't see me. Right?“Ophelia?” I called out to be sure.Ophelia in my head was muttering a few things before she answered me. “no. He can't. He's just spaced out and looking here by chance”He turned back to his mother. I could see the uncanny resemblance between them. She was the older female vision of him and he looked just like her. The only difference being that he looked more ruthless while she looked very calm.“I remember when I was mad at your dad because he was going to become the Alpha because of Dmitri” she said with a smile My ears were perked up to listen to this conversation. It felt wrong. Like I was listening in on something that wasn't my place to hear“He said that it was better that he take over before you grow up to take his place…even if he's gone, I know he's proud of what you've become. He's proud.. I can feel him. He knew you'd make a great leader” She said w

MARILYNStumbling back, my heart began pounding. The woman who looked just as beautiful and ethereal as Balin was arranging some flowers in a flowerpot. Daisies. She hadn't seen me. She couldn't see me. I felt sick to my stomach.I tried to move but it seemed like my legs were rooted to the spot. Ophelia.“Ophelia, let go this instant!” I yelled to her in my head. She was awfully silent but she still didn't let me move “I swear that I'll block you out from my consciousness” I threatened. That got her attention.“Calm down, little one. You can't even do that if you wanted to. If you succeeded then it means I was humoring you. I don't want you to leave now for some reasons” her tone was soft as she led me towards where the woman was humming.I took a look at the daisies and my hand reached out to touch them.“Don't! You'll blow our cover!”, Ophelia hissed and I quickly drew back my hand.“Sorry” I said sheepishly.Ophelia muttered a few obscenities that I couldn't hear and she muttered

MARILYNThe wind whipped past me in the early hours of the morning as I ventured through the path leading back to the Ocean. For some weird reason, I knew the way there for some weird reason, it was like my brain had mapped it out already and my body was just leading me there.A sudden voice in my head sounded. “You want closure, isn't that?”I stiffened and looked around me, the early morning sun doing nothing to help my vision as I tried to look at the sealed off houses on the side of the road.If I had waited till the morning, I could have gone with a car from Damien but I didn't want to bother him anymore than I already had so I had just snuck out.“Who's there?” I didn't know if to shout it out or just say it in my mind. I knew that voice from somewhere but I Didn't know where.“A friend. Surely, you haven't forgotten me so soon” the voice said, in a surprised tone. There was tense silence before the voice spoke. “it's Ophelia”Ophelia… my brain wracked around for that name and I
