ALICIA

He looked a bit confused but the confusion soon morphed into a scowl. He didn't look surprised to see me anymore, he looked irritated.

I couldn't dwell on that, I had come here for something so his mood didn't really matter to me.

It had been a while since the useless mermaid went missing and even though I didn't know where she was, I was going to make sure that she never made it back alive.

“Balin,” I said, forcing a smile.

He muttered something incoherent under his breath and pushed his empty plate aside.

“I don't like visitors when I'm eating” he said gruffly as he stared at me over.

I blinked rapidly and tried to keep a passive expression on my face

“You're done eating” I noted, my gaze turning to the empty plate on the neatly laid out table.

His eyes darkened.

“Indeed I am done but what if I hadn't been done eating? You could never have known,” Irritation was clear in his tone at this point and I was beginning to wonder if I had made the right decision by coming

MARILYNIt was already evening, I had spent a long time in my room, staring at my reflection in the mirror. The sound of swords clashing outside made me sigh. The warriors were sparring.I should go join them instead of spending my time here doing nothing but I didn't want to stand up at this moment.Sighing, I reached for the antique black comb on the dresser and gently drove it through my hair, untangling the knots that had formed After brushing it for a few minutes, I set it back on the table and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I didn't look any better than when I was in bold bite pack. There was only one difference. This version of me was stronger and didn't care about the opinion of others. I would prove to them that I was strong.Well if I wasn't going to train this evening, I might as well put my room in order. Standing up, I went to the bed when a knock sounded.“Come in,” I said, irritated. The door was pushed open and a maid walked in noiselessly.“Miss Marilyn,” the

BALINThere was another knock on the door and this time I knew that it was Aylin and Jarek. I could hear Aylin voice already and she seemed angry about something while jarek just kept replying with “no” “stop” “why?” And it seemed to aggravate her further as her tempo increased with each word.I stared at the door and it flew open to reveal the both of them standing in front of the door, Aylin’s hands crossed around her body while Jarek stared down at her with an irritated look. They seemed a bit shocked at the sudden opening of the door as Aylin just huffed and walked in before jarek sighed and followed her.“I didn't expect you to do that ” Aylin said, her gaze fixed on me.My eyes fell on jarek who just shook his head.Did she say why she wanted to come here?” I mindlinked him.He shook his head before replying. “No.”Aylin looked between me and him then frowned. “I'd rather you ask me your questions Instead of mindlinking your beta,” she said, indignation in her tone.I squinted m

JAREKI didn't wait for another second, I carried Aylin out in my arms, back into my room where I lay her down on the bed gently despite the nagging feeling of me just throwing her down angrily because that was what I wanted to do.“What was that?!” I yelled at her, my eyes flashing. She struggled to sit up and I wanted to just go hold her down so that she wouldn't move but I just clenched my fists by my side and watched her quietly.“He needed to know, didn't he?” She asked with a slight smirk on her face. She found this funny?“Seriously? Is this a joke to you?! I was worried!” I yelled at her.She rolled her eyes at me and blew out air.“Stop with the shitty attitude, Jarek. You're beginning to behave like a father” she sneered at me.Something snapped in me and before I could hold myself back, I had pinned her down to the bed, my large body towering over hers.“Say that again” I dared her, my eyes darkened to a dangerous hue Aylin tried to free her hand from where I had pinned it

JAREKI could sense that something was awfully wrong. Kabal rarely had something to say with people in the pack. Now, he seemed interested, a hint of curiosity in his eyes as he stood in the middle of the room and looked her over.Honestly I don't know what I felt as I noticed his gaze all over her. Whatever it was, I hated it. I didn't like the sense of insecurity that wafted up through me but I kept silent. Kabal was genuinely curious but certainly not interested in her. Hopefully. After what seemed to be eternity that he was raking his eyes over her, I groaned inwardly. This was getting awkward.“Do I have to throw you out of my room before you state your business?” I asked him, a frown on my face He tore his gaze from her to look at me. “I have business with her but I'm just trying to confirm something” he said, bowing slightly.Aylin cleared her throat, her fingers working on the pendant around her neck. “What do you want to say to me?” She asked, looking at him nowHis gaze fli

BALIN“Dimitri is planning a return…” the words echoed in my head and my insides churned. The elder was speaking but I wasn't listening anymore, my mind was distant, I had gone AWOL.My gaze unconsciously fell on jarek who was looking at me to see my reaction. That snapped me out of my daze and I looked at the elder still ranting.“Wait” my voice was a low growl and he immediately shut up.“Yes?” He asked, his arms crossed behind him.“Do you have any evidence or do you expect me to believe any thing you spit out?” I asked, my voice low.Elder oakwood spoke up. “I'm sure that Elder Matthias has no reason to play around”, he began to protest when I sent him a glare.“Elder oakwood, I see you patched your shoulder up quickly” I smirked, gesturing towards the bandaged shoulder making him wince.“Uh, well…yeㅡ” he stuttered before I cut him off “If you don't want it permanently damaged, I suggest you shut the Fuck up and not interrupt me” I threatened. ALICIAIt was a full day since everyone in the pack was at alert. We had heard the newsThe exiled Alpha was near.It had thrown us into a state of emergency but not me. I was calm because I wanted to use this to my advantage.Balin hadn't come to his senses, he was still blinded by the mermaid and what hurt was that she wasn't even around but she seemed to have clouded his mindI was standing in front of my mirror, a dark ball of energy swirling around in my hands as I played with it.What to do now?I tilted my head and manipulated the dark orb to whatever shape I wanted. This was a simple trick I had learnt from Tabitha and now I was stuck here.I racked my brain for any useful spell that may help me in this but I was drawing a blank. And no, I didn't regret killing Tabitha, she cost me that stupid mermaid but I was pissed off that there was no one around. I had to go through her spell books alone and by myself.Suddenly something clicked as I remembered Tabitha once telling me som

DAMIENIt had been one full day since we had argued and now we were sitting to dinner or rather she was poking her food while I stared at her with an uneasy gaze.“You're not hungry?” I finally asked after a couple minutes of silence. She dropped her fork down and looked up at me with a sad smile. “I guess not”I sighed, feeling annoyed at her nonchalant behavior. “Do you want to talk about it?”“No”Her reply made me get even more irritated but I kept myself in check.“Marilyn” I called her.She arched an eyebrow but she didn't meet my gaze.“Can you stop looking at the food like you're interested in it and look at me for a few seconds?” I asked irritatedShe sighed, looked up and gave me a slow, long look with a raised brow.“You're acting like a child right now. ALICIA“You should skip” my wolf said in my head.I stood up on wobbly feet, feeling lightheaded and I shook my head. “I can manage myself” I muttered. The feeling of something trickling down my nostrils made me freeze and rush to the mirror and the sight wasn't anything nice.Dark red blood slowly trickled out of my nose, the metallic taste seeping into my mouth as I parted my lips. “Holy shit, what's happening?” My voice cracked and I gripped the edge of my table tightly. My wolf was alarmed and she began pacing about.“I don't know. Your body is acting on it's own will now” she said in a panic. My legs gave out and I fell to the ground, wiping my bloody nose with a tissue that I had grabbed from the table. No no, something was awfully wrong. I should stay in for fear that someone might see me like this but I instead kept my cool. There was no telling that Balin wouldn't kill me if I didn't show up.I forced myself to stand up and I quickly wiped my nose again, the smear of blood p

MARILYN"Maren?" I questioned, a wave of surprise washing over me. How did he know that word? Not many people knew of it and my bet was that Ophelia only knew that because she was a witch who had lived for long and seen things so It didn't make sense that this man knew about what I was. Even I just found out.He merely smirked, his eyes gleaming with a predatory hunger. "A mermaid royal," he clarified as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.I felt a chill crawl down my spine. His knowledge made my skin tingle and I had so many questions that I didn't dare to ask him. He wasn't a friend. He was a foe."How do you know about Marens?" I pressed, my voice laced with curiosity despite me trying to hide it.He remained silent for a moment, his gaze unwavering. Then, with a dismissive wave of his hand, he said."That's not important right now, sweetheart. What matters is that you're special. Very special. And I intend to make sure you're well taken care of... if you help me."The

BALINThe sun had dipped beyond the horizon and there was a terrible storm brewing outside. I was sitting to dinner with Damien. It was ironic. I couldn't bear to sit with this man a while ago yet here we were. Not like we were making any conversation as he seemed rather distant, cutting the piece of vegetable almost robotically.I was in no mood to even know what was wrong with him. I already had my shit to take care of.The sound of his fork clattering to his plate brought me back to reality. He looked at me with dead eyes. “Your room had been prepared for you. You'll be shown there after dinner. You can have a look around or do whatever suits you best,” he muttered.“Oh I think I know,” I said nonchalantly expecting a witty response but all I got was a hum.Feeling a bit weird, I looked up at him. “Thank you for your kindness,” I said.It was kind of a big deal for him to let us stay over since we couldn't return to the pack.“It's no problem. If I had visited you, I'm sure you w

MARILYNHe was still staring at me with that wolfish grin in his eyes.Keiran pinched the bridge of his nose and turned his attention back to the man.“She's been bought” I heard him whisper to the man. There was a scowl on the man's face at that.“Is her master here?” He asked, his voice loud as though he didn't care that I was there. He was rude but for some reason, this wasn't how I envisioned the exiled Alpha to be. Maybe I was mistaken and he just had the same name as the exiled Alpha however Keiran had referred to him as Alpha, no one did that anymore if someone was exiled. They were stripped of their position so it wouldn't make sense if Keiran was doing it “You know I'm right here,” I said lazily. The man let out a smile. “My apologies, sweetheart. I was just going through the necessary details”I sighed and crossed my arms. “I'm not on the list, sir,” I said with an eye raised.A look of surprise flashed in his eyes as though Keiran had not just told him that.“I see. MARILYNI couldn't believe it, I was staring at the exiled Alpha and he… he was also staring at me.Shit.He must have noticed someone's unwavering gaze on him because he slowly turned his head and his eyes landed on me and he frowned, looked me over.I should have looked away but I couldn't and we were just having a staring competition until Keiran got to him bowing before the man removed his gaze from mine and focused on keiran.Dmitri was here to buy a mermaid. weird.Keiran was talking exaggeratedly and I was getting tired of just standing In the same spot so I sighed. Why was I waiting for keiran? I knew the way to the poolIgnoring anyone who looked at me, I strode towards the pool eager to get things over with and leave this placeThe pool looked fairly the same. Nothing much hand changed yet not even the stares that I was given.“Marilyn?!” My name was whispered in shock by several of the mermaids who were clustered around talking before I entered I took a deep breath. I think I'm done with my job and you're no fun. I'll let Aylin know that you're good. Stay safe, Marilyn. If you need me, you know where to find me” she said, laughter in her tone until she was gone. I couldn't feel her presence anymore.Pity. BALINDamien was speaking to Kabal in the corner with a frown on his face while his beta attended to me.“Tea or coffee?” The beta asked in a monotone.I slowly dragged my gaze over the man's slender build. “aren't you tired?” I asked in a frustrated tone. His eyes furrowed slightly in confusion. “What is that supposed to mean, Alpha Chris?”“It means that you've asked me that question 9 times in a minute” I said throwing my hands up exasperatedly. His head tilted and his lips parted slightly. “Oh”I rolled my eyes, not bothering to hide the frustration in my voice. “Yeah, I counted” I sneered. He straightened up. “Oh well you didn't answer either way” he also said.“Wasn't that supposed to be your cue to know what that meant?” I snapped at him.He took a step back and sighed. “Very well”I looked back at Damien who was now talking to an elder in his pack but Kabal was no where to be found. Probably gone as usual. Damien looked really pissed off at something as he spoke to the man and

MARILYNThe mermaid foundation was just a stones breath away and I sighed getting down from the bike.“I hate you” I whispered to Ophelia, hoping she could hear the anger in my voice. She tsked.“Oh well at least you learnt something” she said to me.“Yeah, not to trust you” I said sarcastically. There was a brief silence. “But at least you now know some things”“That doesn't change the fact that he cheated” I said stubbornly, leaning on the bike “Did he?” She asked suddenly.I stuck my hands in my pockets and huffed. “You know, for someone who was hell bent on letting him die, you sure as hell want to defend him” I noted.I felt it. Anger. She was angry.“Hell no” she snapped. “I still want him to die”, she said nonchalantly.“Weird because your actions don't actually show that” I reminded her.“Oh well, I… I can't explain myself at this point. BALIN I walked away as briskly as I could before I would do something I'd regret. She was hiding for some reason and even though I wanted to pull her out of her shell, I knew that would only make her more mad at me.I don't know how she managed to be there but not quite there. I couldn't see her but her essence was everywhere, I could feel her, scent her.As I reached the end of the path, my head turned around to look back at the bike. It was gone but the trace of tires on the ground made me smile. She had pushed it away and left. The revv of the engines from afar reached my ears and I wanted to smile. I was agitated, I didn't see her but with so many interactions with her, I was fine already. She soothed my heart. I wanted her back.As I reached the party of my guards and Kabal, I nodded to them“Let's go. Damien must be waiting for us” I said to them.Kabal looked me over and nodded. “Indeed” with that, he dissolved into black dust and disappeared.A guard opened the car door for m

MARILYNHe didn't move his gaze neither did he show like he could see me.I was being paranoid, he couldn't see me. Right?“Ophelia?” I called out to be sure.Ophelia in my head was muttering a few things before she answered me. “no. He can't. He's just spaced out and looking here by chance”He turned back to his mother. I could see the uncanny resemblance between them. She was the older female vision of him and he looked just like her. The only difference being that he looked more ruthless while she looked very calm.“I remember when I was mad at your dad because he was going to become the Alpha because of Dmitri” she said with a smile My ears were perked up to listen to this conversation. It felt wrong. Like I was listening in on something that wasn't my place to hear“He said that it was better that he take over before you grow up to take his place…even if he's gone, I know he's proud of what you've become. He's proud.. I can feel him. He knew you'd make a great leader” She said w
