24: Maybe next time

“I think Homer has a few things of her own to get to. Remember, it is a Sunday. I must have pulled her away from whatever she was doing.” Dominic said while staring at me, hoping I would understand what his face was trying to say.

I then looked back at Hale, who had his usual cheeky grin on. He was the complete opposite of Dominic. Hale looked like he had escaped his mother’s womb with a smile on his face, and other humans came out crying. And then Dominic, on the other hand, looked like he had never smiled.

Hale raised his eyebrows, hoping it would entice me more. I looked back at Dominic, who looked even more cross.

Part of me wanted to push it by sitting down to see how Dominic would react, but I just knew that if I pulled a crazy stunt like that, Dominic would not hesitate to fire me right there.

“Homer, didn’t you say you had a sister to check up on?” Dominic asked

“Come on, Dom. Just a few minutes. She can eat, sip some wine and then be on her way out.” Hale pleaded
