23: Come on, have a seat

There were still a few more pots and containers of food that needed to go to the dining room, and no sign of Dominic. I had to get them there somewhere before he entered the kitchen again to reprimand me, but after hearing what Dominic just said, I was terrified of going back there.

It seemed like his guest was getting close to figuring me out, and Dominic suspected I was a potential criminal.

“Nonsense…” Hale finally laughed the awkward silence away. “I would never be involved with someone like her.”

Someone like me?

“Well, I don’t want to see you interacting with her,” Dominic said.

Why was Dominic forbidding his friend from interacting with me? Did Dominic have an interest in me and was worried his friend would swoop me away? Did Dominic suddenly think I was cute enough?

“Why? I can’t even say hi or ask her how she is doing?” Hale wondered.

I really hoped that their lunch and dinner conversation was not only going to be about me. There were other things they could have talk
