MAEVEWe walked hand in hand, through the hallway of the estate. My eyes wondered over the off white walls, and the pictures that hung there. So much had changed in such a short space of time that it was difficult to process, I hadn't had time to think, to understand or to grieve. One picture in particular caught my attention. It was a picture of my mother and I standing in the clearing. The same clearing where my life had been turned upside down, less than a week before now. The memory surrounding the picture was so vivid. My papa had taken the picture. Mother joking about how this one was definitely going on the wall, how she was always the one behind the camera, catching the memories, she was so happy that she finally got to be in one of the pictures that we could one day look back on and cherish. MAEVEI was rudely awoken by the sound of a fist thumping against my door and a loud voice bellowing through the gap."Maeve... MAEVE!! Wake up sweetheart. TODAY IS THE DAY!"I lazily stretched out and opened my eyes trying to take in my surrounding. My eyes rested on my photo collage board in my room, pictures of my family and friends greeted me with their warm smiles. I knew how lucky I was to live the life I did. MAEVEMother, papa and I walked outside of the estate to be met with the pack standing on the grounds waiting for us. "Peace and prosperity to Alpha Sadler and his family. Without an alpha there is no pack" they all chanted in unison. "Without a pack there is no alpha" my papa replied giving the pack a nod of acknowledgement. The pack buzzed with excitement as we all walked to the clearing within our pack's territory. I could hear them all mummering between themselves wondering who my wolf would be. "Maybe it will be Karina the famous she wolf warrior" I heard a little boy say to his mother. Our wolves were reincarnated from generation to generation, some returned almost instantly with the death of their last host ready to live another life, some returned every few hundred years or so and others had never returned from the spirit lands at all turning into myths. The clearing was filled with bluebells and the warm summer breeze brushed across my face as I took in my surroundings.
