MADDOX
"Hurry up we are late! I knew we shouldn't have trusted you to get us there on time." Alpha Turner chimed up from the back seat.Today was the day alpha Sadler's daughter completed her summoning ceremony.Whenever a summoning happened with an alpha's family all the other alpha's join the ceremony as a nod of support to our standing within the community and as a sign of our peace treaty across the UK.We had all agreed to go in the same SUV. 7 of us travelling together with Alpha Carson driving. "Relax" sighed alpha Carson."Once you've seen one summoning ceremony you've seen them all." He continued. His lack of commitment to arrive anywhere on time infuriated me, he was late to summoning's, alpha meetings, you name it, any occasion alpha Carson had to attend started late.I looked out the passenger seat window at the territory surrounding me. It was set deep within a forest like most territories, even though the Sabre pack, run by alpha Sadler was the third biggest in the UK it still struck me as quaint. He had managed to keep a family feel within a large pack.We finally pulled up to the gates of the community and were met by a guard on duty."State your business" he started before I'd even rolled the window down.Once the blacked-out window was fully down I looked him square in the eyes and he instantly began to stutter and fumble over his words."Alpha... Alpha Bain... I... I... I had no idea it was you Alpha, I apologise... P...Please go on ahead."I continued to stare him down, kind of enjoying the power trip I was currently receiving. His head began to shrink further down towards his shoulders as he cowered away, I reigned myself in deciding that was enough of my bullshit for one day."No apology required, you were just doing your duty. Now let us through" I responded. He pressed the button to open the gate and we continued into the Sabre territory."Making friends as always I see alpha Bain" alpha Birch chortled from the back.I had a reputation amongst the other packs and alpha's as being a hard ass on my pack, truth is I just didn't suffer small talk or fools gladly.Providing my pack stayed in line, did as requested, and tried their hardest at training they had no reason to fear me. We drove down the rural lanes and pulled up to the estate."For fuck's sake Carson they're already at the clearing!" Turner exclaimed, he was clearly pissed off and embarrassed that we were late.He got out of the SUV not bothering to wait for the rest of us, as he started walking purposefully towards the clearing. To be honest Carson was right, once you'd seen one summoning, you'd seen them all.I slowly got out of the car and stretched my legs beginning to saunter over to the clearing. I took my sweet time getting there, dawdling along with the other alphas, when we finally got there something was different, not quite right. The whole pack including Sadler and his mate were standing staring at the centre of the clearing. I could feel the anxiety shifting between them all. Even Sadler was struggling to keep his composure."How long has she been gone?" Alpha birch asked alpha Sadler."Just over 2 hours" Sadler replied keeping his voice low.I assume he was trying not to worry his pack. Over 2 hours?! Summoning's usually take 15 minutes tops, you go in, your wolf picks you and you get out. What the hell could this girl be doing in there? Was she struggling to get out? I had never met alpha Sadler's daughter, so couldn't comment on her general competency but surely, she couldn't be that stupid?'I wonder what she's doing in there?' Tyr, my wolf asked me quizzically via mind link.'I honestly have no idea. I've never in my life, known it to take so long for a shifter to find their chosen wolf.' I responded.'She must be blonde' Tyr joked.I chuckled to myself and cut off my wolf from speaking any further. He was clearly in a jovial mood, and now was not the time.My eyes joined everyone else's staring at the centre of the clearing waiting for this silly girl to return. The ground began to shake beneath my feet. Something wasn't right....MAEVE"I WISH TO RETURN TO THE HUMAN REALM, TO RETURN TO MY PACK" I shouted again after nothing happened the first time. I could feel something trying to keep me here. Their invisible hands holding onto my arms, stopping my spirit from leaving this place. 'FIGHT BACK' Freyja shouted at me. I tried to free my arms, I tried to pull away from them, I wailed my arms around trying to get free and kicked my legs out hoping to connect with something. 'How?!' I reached out to Freyja. 'How am I meant to fight something I can't see?' I could feel her trying to will herself forward, to take over. Freyja reached out to me. 'You're going to have to shift Maeve, I know you probably wanted your first shift to be on the ceremonial pack run but we need to shift now!' With Freyja's help I forced myself to shift for the first time. It was painful, I'd been told first shifts always are. I refused to cry out, I would show Freyja how strong I could be for her. Every inch of my body was contorting, my
MADDOXWe were all still standing there staring at the clearing in pure disbelief, when another more ferocious shake erupted from the ground beneath our feet. A few of the Sabre pack began to run in fear. 'No matter what comes out of this we stand and fight like the warriors we are' I heard my wolf Tyr call out to me. I agreed, we would not run from a fight. I took my stance ready to face whatever was coming head on, the other alpha's followed suit. All except Alpha Carson who was slowly backing away, ready to run at any given moment. Fucking coward. A flash of light shot out from the centre of the clearing. My vision went black from the blaze of light. "Shit! I can't see." I heard alpha Turner shout behind me.I tapped into Tyr's senses to try and use our sense of smell. I'd fight these fuckers blind if I had to. The scent that hit my nose made my heart stop, apples & cinnamon with a hint of cherries. Whatever was coming to get us surely couldn't be evil with a scent that heavenl
MADDOX As we entered the conference room, we were all placed in silver cuffs. It hurt like a bitch but it was decided to be necessary to stop us Alpha's from shifting when things got a little too heated sometimes. I took my place at head of the table, no matter who's pack we were in the largest pack leader sat at the head. I looked around at the other alphas sat in the room with me. Alpha Sadler I knew would be no issue, he wanted to protect his daughter just as much as I did. Alpha Turner I respected and had a treaty with, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't put my mate in harms way. Alpha Birch was a gentle natured kind of guy, always wanted peace and all that shit. Alphas Reed, Ferrand and Walker, I didn't think would pose a threat, even if the three of them banded together they had the smallest packs in our country and still wouldn't match my pack alone in numbers, so they would know better. My eyes rested on Alpha Carson. If I was going to have a problem with anyone, it would be th
MAEVEMy body felt as though I had been hit by a truck, and my head was pounding. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings, the room was dark. The lights were off, and the curtains were closed. I could barely make out the shadows of the room but knew I was somewhere unfamiliar. I was laying on a large bed with velvet sheets caressing my skin. I lifted my head and saw movement in the shadows out of the corner of my eye. "Hello? Is someone there?" I called out. I didn't like this I didn't feel safe. The lights turned on and I saw a man stood in the corner of the room, with a sombre look on his face. He was a relatively tall man, about 6 foot 5 if I had to guess. Tall by human standards, but not particularly amongst werewolf men. He had sandy blond hair. With strands falling down, that sat just above his eyebrows and cool blue eyes. He looked a bit older than me but still handsome, as all werewolves were to the human eye. "My sweet girl, I am so glad you're ok." He coed. I jump
MAEVE I spent the next few days walking around alpha Carson's estate like a shadow of my former self, I was still struggling to come to terms with the revelation about my pack and family. What hurt the most was knowing I'd caused this; this was all because of me and my chosen wolf. Alpha Carson has been my lifeline through this difficult time, always ensuring I am well fed, well rested and treating me like one of the family. I chocked on those last thoughts knowing that I didn't have a family anymore, all of my family and friends were dead. I was pulled away from my thoughts by a knock at the door and saw Alpha Carson pop his head around it with a warm smile on his face. "Good morning sweetheart, I just came to bring you breakfast. Orange juice and pancakes this morning." I gave him a warm smile and stood up from my bed. "Thank you so much Alpha, you've been amazing these last few days. I don't know how I'll ever be able to repay you." He set the breakfast plate down on the side ta

IF YOU DO WISH TO SKIP THIS SCENE YOU WON'T MISS MUH OF THE STORY LINE... IT'S JUST A FILLER ON WHAT ALPHA CARSON DOES WHILST HE'S WAITING FOR MAEVE TO GET READY. THE ONLY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS CHAPTER IS FOR THE READER TO BE AWARE THAT ALPHA CARSON HAS SLAVES TRAPPED IN THE BASEMENT OF THE ESTATE.***ALPHA CARSONI walked out of Maeve's room and smirked to myself as I made my way to the cinema room within my estate. The stupid girl was beginning to trust me. All I needed to do was hold Maddox at my borders and not let him get through until I can convince her to let me mark her. The whole story I'd spun about him slaughtering her entire pack would have left her feeling alone and vulnerable which is right where I wanted her. It meant she was more likely to fall for my
MAEVEI laid there contently snuggled into Theo's arms, watching the film. I wished every day could be this carefree. I could get used to this, but could he? I still didn't know anything about the man really. I turned to look up at him and took in every detail of his face. His strong jaw line with a shadow of stubble, was set firm as he concentrated on the film. His long eyelashes were fanning his cool blue eyes. He wasn't my usual type but then again, having never had a boyfriend I didn't even know for certain if I had a type. He looked out of the corner of his eye and caught me staring, I didn't know what do to so just looked away hoping that he hadn't noticed."Can I help you darling?" He quizzed.I internally groaned. He did see me staring. What the heck was I going to say? What possible reason could I have for staring at him like a lovestruck pup. "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I was just thinking about how grateful I am, that you saved me from Alpha Bain. If you didn't inter
MADDOXI was losing my mind out here. We had set up our military camp 3 days ago outside Alpha Carson's estate. Every minute that went past was another painful reminder that my mate was trapped inside those walls, and goddess knows what kind of torture Alpha Carson was putting her through. I was failing. As a mate, and as an Alpha to my pack. The second I had woken up in Alpha Sadler's conference room, I was met with the site of Alpha Sadler and Luna Isabella's dead eyes staring at me. He had fucking killed them in cold blood. My mates parents had been brutally murdered and I wasn't even sure if she knew what had happened.I took a moment to remember the events of the last few days. I remember being let out of the handcuff's by a morbid looking Beta, who had just realised his Alpha and Luna were gone. I remember shifting into my wolf and running back to my pack as fast as my legs would carry me. The thing that will stay with me most, is remembering the way my pack had reacted to the
MAEVEWe walked hand in hand, through the hallway of the estate. My eyes wondered over the off white walls, and the pictures that hung there. So much had changed in such a short space of time that it was difficult to process, I hadn't had time to think, to understand or to grieve. One picture in particular caught my attention. It was a picture of my mother and I standing in the clearing. The same clearing where my life had been turned upside down, less than a week before now. The memory surrounding the picture was so vivid. My papa had taken the picture. Mother joking about how this one was definitely going on the wall, how she was always the one behind the camera, catching the memories, she was so happy that she finally got to be in one of the pictures that we could one day look back on and cherish. I was only 10 at the time, and the bluebells were yet to blossom, the field was bare and the air still crisp from the not long past winter. I was so obsessed with one day finding my wo
MAEVE"If you're finished stroking your massive ego, I'd like to get the meeting underway." I retorted, rolling my eyes dramatically. He gave me a playful wink and placed a delicate kiss on my forehead. "Very well then Little Alpha. Do you know how to mindlink the Beta of this pack?" Maddox asked. I wasn't actually sure if I could mindlink anyone within the pack. You're only able to mindlink once you have your Wolf, and due to obvious circumstances, I'd been a little pre occupied with the various unfortunate events that had happened between then and now. My mother had always told me that mindlinking came pretty naturally once your Wolf was present. So I was willing to give it a try. "Tell him I've requested a meeting with the council." Maddox interrupted my trail of thought."Why you?" I questioned. "Why can't I just tell him I want the meeting?" "Because only Alpha's can request meetings with the council, currently you're not an Alpha, Little Fox. So unless you want to unveil yo
MAEVEI frantically looked around the room trying to find Maddox. I could hear someone running up the stairs, what if it was Alpha Carson, what if they'd come back for me and taken Maddox away? I couldn't bare to lose him as well as my parents."MADDOX!" I screamed, praying he was still here. The door burst open and I jumped up from my bed onto the floor. If they were going to try and take me again, at least I'd be able to put up a fight. I crouched down into a pounce, ready to shift at any moment. Maddox rushed into the room, visibly shaken. His eyes scanned across the bed and then landed on me. "MAEVE! WHAT IS IT, WHATS WRONG?" His eyes continued to to dart around the room trying to find the hidden danger. My shoulders slumped in relief when I saw him. 'It was just a dream Maeve, you're safe.' Freyja confirmed in my mind.I ran over to Maddox and jumped into his arms with my legs wrapped around his waist. I planted frenzied kisses all over his face and the rested my nose into his
MADDOXI laid there and watched my mate sleep. I dared not move in case I woke her. I'm surprised it took her as long as it did to break down. I had known it was coming, no one could have gone through what she had the last few days and not have cracked. I was beginning to understand why the Moon Goddess had paired me with her. Her undeniable reliance and strength, outshone my own. She would be the perfect Luna for the White Claw pack, and probably far more than what I deserved in a mate. I was pulled from my trail of thought by the faint sound of her whimpering. Her petite form began to toss and turn beneath my arm. I used my free hand to gently stroke her cheek as I repeatedly cooed a reassuring "shhhh". Maybe she was having a nightmare. I wondered what could be plaguing her dreams.Once I was sure she was in a deep sleep I lifted myself ever so slightly from the pillows, in order to allow myself to take a deep intake through my nose. I was taking note of all the scents around me,
MAEVE"You know, you didn't have to be so mean to him." I mumbled, as we drove down the long road leading to the pack's main town. It was approximately 10 miles, from the guarded gate to the actual pack. It helped to ensure the humans didn't accidentally come across our town. "To who?" Maddox asked in return. "Luke..." I said with a tone of bewilderment. "You know, the guard we were talking to literally 60 seconds ago." I summed up."Oh." Was all he replied."I wasn't being rude Little Fox. I just can't be as pleasant and open with everyone as I can with you." He concluded, with a subtle shrug to his shoulders."Why not?" I asked genuinely. "My father was and our pack is still standing?" I queried.Maddox gave an awkward sigh. I could tell he was thinking of how to say whatever it was he was trying to get at, without being offensive."Yes I know Maeve. Your father did a brilliant job, I respected him as a fellow Alpha. However, there is a reason why my pack is the largest and most c
MAEVEI knew we were fast approaching the Sabre Pack. The short drive made me realise how close I'd been to my pack the entire time. I had felt so alone, and isolated whilst in Alpha Carson's estate. Unbeknownst to me how close my pack had been. I suppose that's the tactic of a captor. To make you feel helpless. It had seemed as though I was a million miles away from any known familiarity, when it actual fact. I was but a stones throw away.As much as I yearned to go home I was slightly disheartened that my alone time with Maddox was coming to an end. I felt so at ease in his company, even just to silently sit next to him was so soothing to my soul. I decided to make the most of the short time we had left and get to know him a little better. I anticipated that things would get pretty hectic once we arrived, we may not get another moment alone for a while. "So, what's your favourite colour?" I asked. I immediately thought about how random this question was, but I had to start somewh
MAEVEI gradually managed to regain my composure. I felt my flustered cheeks returning to a normal temperature. Once I was confident that my face no longer had a comparable colour to Red Skull from Captain America, I decided to take a seat on the sofa. I idly watched Bain pack some clothes into a suitcase. "So, Alpha Bain" I started. "I've already told you to call me Maddox." He interrupted. "I'm sorry, Maddox." I tried his name out."In all honesty, it just feels a little odd. You know, calling you 'Maddox'. Your whole persona screams authoritative. Which makes it difficult, not to refer to you as an Alpha." I reasoned. He listened to my explanation, whilst continuing to pack and shrugged his heavy shoulders nonchalantly. "I don't know what to suggest to you Maeve. But it would make me feel uncomfortable, to have you refer to me as Alpha. You're my mate, my equal." He finished. "Maybe you could somehow make yourself seem less authoritative around me? Less threatening somehow?"
MAEVEI gave my best witty glare in Alpha Bain's direction. I lifted my hand and slapped his shoulder playfully. He clearly thought he was quite the comedian! He winced and took a sharp inhale. My face dropped as I realised I'd slapped his bad shoulder. "Oh my Goddess! I am so sorry!" I offered apologetically. He controlled his expression quickly."It's fine, don't worry about it." He responded."Shall we go and meet this Beta Stimpson of yours?" He continued. Alpha Bain, Luca and I walked out of the tent. I was in such a haze when Bain had first brought me here, that I hadn't had a chance to look around before being carried into his tent. I took in my surroundings and was astounded by the amount of tents that had been erected. The number of people here was astonishing! The whole pack must have joined to help. Even the women and children. I felt numerous eyes on me from members of the White Claw pack as we followed Luca to the location of Beta Stimpson and the women. I could here
MAEVE"I kissed him" I wailed. I felt his comforting hand on my back stop it's movements. To say that I was feeling like the shittiest werewolf in existence, would be an understatement. Alpha Bain and his pack had been risking their lives for days on end, whilst I was swanning around Theo's estate playing the deluded dream of a love sick pup. I heard him let out a deep controlled breath. I didn't have much experience with my own wolf, but I knew from other pack members within the Sabre pack that he was trying to control his wolf. I slowly removed my head from my hands, to look up at my mates beautiful blurred face between my tears. He had stood upright and was pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. "You kissed who Maeve?" He questioned.I could see how much it pained him to string that sentence together. He continued to take deep breaths, not yet daring himself to look at me. I panicked. What if he hated me? Could I blame him. I had shared a passionate
