Chapter 7

“Yes I would like that very much, Donna.” Javier says. “Would it be okay if my son joins us? He will be taking over the cartel in the next year and I would like him in on our meetings.”

“Yes that is fine. Would you like to go to dinner now?”

“After you Donna.” Javier motions for Veronica to lead the way out. They enter Veronica’s car and are soon followed by Javier’s car containing his son.

They arrive at one of the mafia’s restaurant and are escorted to a private room. After about 10 minutes, there is a knock on the door when Javier’s son is announced.

The man walks into the room and Veronica found herself with her mouth open as she stared at him. Her heart was skipping a beat and thudding loudly in her chest. He is a tall man standing over 6 feet tall with olive skin and black hair that is slicked back. He has bright green eyes that light up the room.

He is a very muscular man as well. He is wearing a button up light blue shirt with sleeves that are rolled up to his elbows as it strains against his muscles just the right amount. He has a pair of snug gray slacks with a black belt that has Veronica biting her bottom lip.

“Donna, this is my son Luis Molina.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Luis. I look forward to working with you as well.” Veronica says in a breathy tone as she holds her hand out to shake his.

“The pleasure is all mine Donna.” Luis says in a seductive tone.

Luis takes her hand to shake it but finds himself lost in Veronica’s eyes and cannot let go of her hand as his breath hitches and his heart skipped a beat when he touches her.

“Luis?” Javier asks concerned.

“Oh, shit sorry.” He says as he shakes his head and let’s go of her hand. He sits down across the table from her and next to his father.

The waitress came in to get drink orders. She tries to get Luis to look at her as she asks, “What can I get you to drink?” She bats her eye lashes at Luis but she is not taking his eyes off of Veronica.

“I’ll take a pint of whatever is on tap.” Veronica says. The waitress nods.

Luis looks at her and smiles. “I’ll take the same.”

“Tequila for me please.”

“I’ll have those right out.” The waitress looks at Luis to try to catch his eye again but he is still not looking away from Veronica.

Gavin pulls her out of the room by her arm to get their drinks.

Veronica pulls out the alliance file she brought to review with Javier and Luis. “So Jefe, I have reviewed the alliance contract we have and I think it is lacking to be honest. I think we could make it more profitable for both of us if we rework it a little bit.” Veronica says.

Javier and Luis look at each other and smile.

“What are you thinking Donna?” Luis asks.

“You need our help with distribution and we need help with production. We split everything but have a legal business run everything. I see this being a pharmacy or more appropriately pharmacies. Maybe even dispensaries.”

They both nod and Javier asks. “What do you think son?”

“We hadn’t thought about it that way before but that makes a lot more sense than what we are doing. By running it through the legal business it would be easier to distribute out from there.”

“Exactly. Now we would just need to talk about the money part. I propose that we will take care of securing all the business end of things here and you take care of your end like getting the product in pill forms. Then we work through our normal transport teams. Do you have teams you fully trust?”

“Yes we do.” Luis says.

“Good. I am doing some house cleaning right now so we may need to use yours for the time being. How long will you need to be ready on your side?”

“1 month.” Luis says with a smile on his face.

“Perfect. We can have the businesses ready by then. Now I think it would be fair if we split everything 50/50, what do you think?”

“That is very generous. Are you sure that it the most profitable way for us both, Donna?” Javier asks.

“I do. We would each take care of our own costs. The split would only be of any profits.” Veronica says.

“That sounds great.” Luis says.

Veronica shakes Javier and Luis’s hands. Then nods to Gavin to let the waitress back in. She comes in with their drinks and takes their food order.

They talk about their businesses until the food arrives. Once the food arrives the conversation stops while everyone eats.

“Donna, I apologize for bringing this up but are you okay? I know losing your parents is a horrible thing especially in the manner that you did.” Javier says.

“Yes thank you Jefe. I am okay. It was unexpected for sure but it will just make me stronger.”

“Donna, I hope you don’t mind me asking. How old are you?”

“No Jefe I don’t mind.” She says with a light chuckle. “I am 20 almost 21. My birthday is in 3 months.”

Luis looks at her with wide eyes. “20 and already a Donna. That’s impressive. Here I’m 22 already and waiting to take over. Maybe we can talk sometime and help each other with our takeovers.”

“I would like that.” She says with a smile and a blush.

Veronica puts her phone number in Luis’s phone and he puts his in her phone.

They bid each good bye after dinner. Veronica goes back home and gets ready for bed. She snuggles into her bed but sleep does not come. She is thinking about the day and the dinner. She starts crying about everything that’s happened but she cannot get her tears to stop once they start flowing.  

There is a small knock on her bedroom door so she quickly wipes her tears and gets up to answer the door. She is stunned by who is on the other side of the door.
