My fiancé leaves me jilted on our wedding day and marries my sister. As I stand there, feeling humiliated, William Sterling gets on one knee before me and asks me to marry him. Everyone in my city knows of him—he's an elite bachelor and every woman's dream. Yet now, he slips a wedding band onto my ring finger and confesses his love for me. "I've always loved you, and I thank the heavens for giving me the chance to spend my life with you." We get married, and he treats me well. Everyone knows that he won't fall for anyone other than me. Everything changes when I accidentally enter his studio in the seventh year of our marriage. I see that he's painted thousands of portraits of my sister, Ivy Winslow. Each one is a tender confession of his love for her. The man I love with all my heart earnestly prays to the heavens and utters his wish. He's willing to sacrifice anything for Ivy to be happy, including his life. It turns out what I thought was seven years of love was nothing but a lie. Ivy is the one he's loved all along. If that's the case, I'll back out. I'll leave in three days, and I hope he and Ivy can be happy together.

Chapter 1

I booked a flight for three days from now. Once the three-day countdown ended, I'd leave right on time and never see William Sterling again.

The door to the study opened, and William entered. "I just heard you on the phone with an airline. What are you doing?"

I put away my phone and calmly explained, "I request an invoice from our last trip to be emailed to me."

He didn't seem suspicious. "What do you want to eat later? You've been sick lately, so something light would be good. How about a creamy mushroom and vegetable soup?"

We'd been married for seven years, and William had always been this gentle and attentive. Everyone believed I was the only one he'd ever love.

I used to thank the heavens every day for blessing me with such happiness. But it took me seven years to realize that William did love only one woman, but that person wasn't me. He married me just to protect Ivy Winslow's happiness.

When I didn't answer, he came over and wrapped his arms around me. "There's one more thing; Ivy's pregnant, and one of her compositions was selected for an international music competition. Her husband threw her a party and sent us an invitation.

"But I know you never feel happy around Ivy, so you won't wanna go. Just stay home and wait for me, okay?"

I was surprised. "The results are out? Why haven't I heard back yet?"

I'd joined the same competition.

William gently caressed my face, and his eyes were filled with tenderness.

"I canceled your application. You've always wanted a child, and if you'd gone ahead with the competition, you'd be spending all your time practicing and composing. When would we start having a family?"

I lowered my head and smiled bitterly as my eyes shut to stop the tears from falling. For seven years, I'd always wanted a baby, but he refused every time and said he was enjoying our time as just the two of us.

But now that I might be competing against Ivy, he suddenly changed his mind and wanted a child just to hold me back. He was willing to give up anything for Ivy, and even having a child was just another excuse.

Seeing I still didn't respond, William leaned in by my ear and whispered, "I'm sorry I didn't discuss it with you beforehand.

"Don't be mad at me, okay? We'll have our seventh wedding anniversary three days from now, and I promise I'll make it up to you.

"I'll do anything, honey, as long as it makes you happy."

I knew those words weren't meant for me; they were for Ivy. He'd do anything as long as Ivy was happy.

I swallowed the bitterness in my throat and looked up at him with a smile. "So we've been in love for seven years now, so I'd better prepare a huge surprise for you. No matter what happens, you're not allowed to miss it, okay?"

He seemed pleased that I'd given up the competition and kissed my forehead. "I'll be looking forward to it, honey."

I believed he'd love it. Soon, he'd completely lose me and finally be free.

When he went into the kitchen to start chopping vegetables, his wedding ring sat quietly on the table. I stared at our rings as tears slipped down silently.

For the first time, I noticed that Ivy's name was engraved in the inner band of his wedding ring. For every single day and year of our marriage, he'd always been in love with someone else.

Ivy's party was the next day. As I helped William with his tie, I said, "Let's go to Ivy's party together. I promise I won't get upset with her this time."William looked a little troubled. Every time I appeared at the same event as Ivy, guests would always whisper about how she'd stolen my fiancé.But he couldn't find a good reason to turn me down, so he put on a helpless smile and said, "Whatever you say. We'll go together, but the party will be boring. Shall we sneak out partway and go on a date instead?"I could tell how afraid he was of me ruining Ivy's happiness. He'd always been protecting her in silence, and marrying me was just to keep me out of Ivy's way. This time, I wouldn't fight her because I was leaving tomorrow. All I wanted was to say goodbye to my friends and family.…Ivy's party was lively, and everyone offered their congratulations. She had it all—a thriving career and a happy marriage. It was obvious that she'd won in life."Congratulations on making the fi

At the peak of a hill, William held me in his arms and whispered sweetly into my ear. "It's so nice holding you like this while waiting for the sunrise together. Tomorrow marks our seventh wedding anniversary. "Having you by my side these past seven years has made me so happy. I've prepared a surprise for you, and you'll see it tomorrow."Say… do you think we can watch the sunrise like this 70 years from now? By then, it won't be just the two of us because our children will be here, too."I looked at him quietly and thought of how we had no future left. The night view was soft and dreamy, and so was he… until a phone call shattered the peace.William glanced at the screen and looked at me with hesitation. I didn't have to look at him or his phone to know that only Ivy could make him this uneasy."Go ahead. I'll be here waiting for you."William kissed my forehead. "You're the best, honey. I'll be back soon."Smiling, I watched him walk away as the freezing wind of the mountai

William nearly stumbled. "What!"He was so stunned that his voice cracked. "There had to be some mistake. She'd never leave, especially when today was our seventh wedding anniversary. Judy said she had a big surprise for me!"At the mention of a big surprise, the color drained from his face. That was when the realization struck him that my big surprise meant leaving him forever!"I'm sorry, William. We don't know why Judy left, but we did confirm she booked the flight three days ago."William froze. He couldn't understand what he'd done three days ago, and that made me decide to leave without a word."No, that's impossible. She mustn't have boarded the plane. She said she'd wait for me…"He pulled out his phone to call me, only to realize it was off. "What's happening?"As panic crept onto his face, a thought struck him. He turned toward Ivy's ward and growled. "Why did you touch my phone?"Ivy flinched, but as the master of deception, she quickly feigned innocence. "I didn't!

Chapter 5
At first, I had just wanted to leave quietly. But I never expected the plane to crash, and the video I scheduled to post ended up as my last words. The truth was, I never boarded the flight because my childhood friend, Lucas Kane, came looking for me. Just because I said I wanted to go home, he drove thousands of miles to pick me up and take me back to my other home.I was born into a family of musicians, but our nanny coveted our wealth. She swapped her daughter into my place at home and threw me out onto the street. That baby was Ivy.A kind couple took me in and raised me until I was finally reunited with my birth parents at the age of fourteen. But they were deeply bonded with Ivy by then, so they kept her.I knew they loved her more. They looked the other way when she stole my fiancé and allowed her to plagiarize my pieces. Even my husband of seven years had married me just to protect Ivy. Everything was a lie, and there was no point in staying. So, I decided to go home. I

Chapter 6
After Lucas left, I fell into silence and eventually picked up my phone to search for news about William and Ivy. Ivy had been kicked out by my parents. The studio they had gifted her was taken back, and her past pieces were now suspected to have been ghostwritten.More than once, my parents looked into the camera and said, "Judy is our most gifted daughter. It's a pity that our family lost this genius forever."As for William, the internet was flooded with videos of his emotional breakdowns. Internet users made comparisons between his former indifference toward me and his current state of despair.I saw him venturing deep into the rainforest to look for me, ended up getting bitten by a venomous snake, and carried away in an ambulance. I noticed him standing atop the hill where we'd promised to celebrate our seventh wedding anniversary like a soulless husk and silently shed tears. The comment section claimed that he truly loved me and that he must have fallen in love with me duri

Chapter 7
After I posted my music video, I received an overwhelming response. People flooded the comment section saying that the piece reminded them of their former selves and when they still believed in love with a burning passion.I gradually released more pieces. Some music producers reached out and offered to sign with me with incredibly generous terms, far more than what my parents or William had ever given me.That was when I realized I could rely on myself. I never needed William's or my parents' validation. There were countless people who genuinely loved my music. While recording a new piece with the children, Ivy suddenly stormed into the farm. She looked like a madwoman, shouting and screaming."Judy! So it's you! You're actually alive! Do you have any idea how many people cursed me out because of your death? My husband left me, William won't look at me, and even our parents wish I were dead!"I thought my husband would forgive me if I gave birth to the baby, but it's all your fau
