Leave the pack

    Three days of being locked up by Alpha Ryan, Luke lost hope that he could ever be free. His wounds were all healed up but he had no food nor tasted water for those three days. 

  The sound of a metal stick clanging down the dungeon was all he could hear until Alpha Ryan was now standing in front of him.

  “How does it feel being locked up?” Alpha Ryan asked him.

  “I don’t know what pleasure you derive in this but I will make sure that you pay for this” he warned. 

  His breath haggard and his eyes fixed deeply on him.He was so mad that Ryan could actually do such a thing to him such as steal his birthright.

  

  A chilling laugh escaped Alpha Ryan’s lips,

  “I don’t think you understand what is going on, the title of the Alpha was never meant to be yours. Do you think I would let a young boy like you lead this pack, we would be dead by our first attack” Alpha Ryan stated. He saw no faith in Luke leading the pack when he could lead it to clear victories.

  “Why don’t you leave that for the people to decide” Luke replied standing closer to the bars so he could see his enemies face in clear light.

  “The people don’t know what they want, I have been ruling this pack for two years while you were being trained and the things I have seen is not for young boys like you” Ryan stated.

  “I see what this is, all because you had a taste of power for those two years you felt it was yours to possess. How greedy can you be” Luke asked him pissed off that he would refer to him as a weakling who cannot rule over the pack. He had trained so much to be an Alpha and Ryan took it all in one day, it hurt him so much that he would gloat about it to his face when he knew how much he wanted to be Alpha. 

  “I am not greedy, I am being protective of the pack so that we don’t fall into the wrong hands” he replied.

  “You may be Alpha now but I assure you that I will come for my title and I will take it from you” Luke strictly warned him. He wasn’t going to let him take what was his. It was his right in the first place and he could take it back just as well.

  “I am the Alpha now and there is nothing you can do about that” Ryan bragged to him in a husky tone, his voice got deeper as he spoke making his words evident.

  

  Luke paced around the cell then turned back to him with a smirk.

  “Oh really, you may have the title of the Alpha but does the pack see you as their Alpha, I don’t think so.

  Let me tell you what they think, all they see is a greedy man who should have already stepped down for his son to take over his place but he got too greedy and went after the title of the Alpha to gain more power for himself. The people don’t see you as their Alpha but rather as an usurper” Luke informed him.

  Alpha Ryan got so riled up that he grabbed Luke by the neck through the bars.

  “Be mindful of what you say to me” he warned him.

  

  Luke knocked his hand off and look straight into his eyes, 

  “I have no regard for you, you better count your days as being Alpha because when I come for you there will be no mercy” he threatened meaning every single word he said.

  “I see you know how to crack jokes” Ryan stated.

  “Take it however you want but your days are numbered Ryan” Luke replied with a obvious smile on his face. He had no plans on how to kill Ryan and take back his title but he had to atleast act like he had one and was going to make Ryan pay. He could see the fear in Ryan’s eyes and he loved it.

  

  Alpha Ryan took a step back to breathe, he had gone to Luke to brag but he was definitely getting on his nerves instead.

  “Why am I bothering myself talking to a naive youth, this is just the tip of the iceberg. 

  I will give you a choice though, when I release you, I want you to leave this pack and never return because if you don’t then you won’t like what I will do to you” Ryan warned him.

  “So what if I don’t leave” Luke asked back. It was surprising to him that Ryan wanted to release him but hearing that he wouldn’t have the chance to return back, he needed to know why.

  “Then you will suffer” Ryan said and walked out of there before Luke pulled every last string of fear in him making him look vulnerable.

  

  An hour has passed, a guard walked towards his cells holding a bunch of keys and a paper in his hand.

  “According to this, Alpha Ryan has chosen to set you free and grant you leave if you ever decide to leave this pack, only on the terms that you would never return to this pack again” the guard stated and gave the paper to Luke.

  Luke read it and couldn’t help but scoff at what was written, it would take a lot for him to leave the pack if that is what Ryan actually wanted.

  The bars were open and he stepped out of the dungeon but he didn’t fail to rip the papers apart right in front of the guard.

  “Tell your Alpha that I am never leaving this pack no matter how much he tries” he said and stormed out of the dungeon climbing the stairs up.

  

  

  Walking through the hall way, he found Voilet holding a tray of food in her hand.

  When she saw him, she instantly froze in her steps watching him. Her gaze on him was soft but instead Luke interpreted it as pity. He didn’t want her to look at him that way, he wanted her to know him as the young Alpha she had always looked up to.

  He took his steps slowly towards her, his body was shaking, his eyes looked everywhere but on her, he clearly lost words to say to her.

  How could he face her when she was there to watch him lose a battle against Alpha Ryan, he felt weak and feeble. He raised his head to gaze at her but dropped his head down immediately, he wanted so much to talk to her but the words couldn’t get out of his mouth so he just hung his head low.

  It was the first time he had ever kept his head to the ground, he had shame written all over him that he couldn’t face her or utter a word.

  Voilet waited for him to get closer then she blocked his path,

  “Young Alpha…” she tried to say but he took another path and walked away. Voilet turned back to look at him but he never cast his glance back at her, he kept on moving further. 

  Violet was utterly confused watching him go, it hurt her that he didn’t bother to look at her or listen to what she had to say. It was the first time he had ever ignored her and she felt bad about it. She held firmly the tray in her hand and heading towards her destination.

  

  Appearing from the corner where Luke had hid himself, his eyes were pinned on her.

  His dear mate who he wanted to look the best for, he held onto his bleeding heart for doing such a thing to her, he knew she had wanted to talk to him but he couldn’t talk to her because of the shame.

  “Not now Luke, we will come for her later” Theo his Lycan advised him. He wanted them to be more concerned about how they would get the Alpha title back from Ryan, it was their top priority. 

  He continued his way out of the pack house thinking of what to do. Theo was hellbent on revenge. As a Lycan, he was born an Alpha and he swore to kill whoever stood in his path.

  In the office fuming over the discussion he had with Luke was Alpha Ryan. He was so mad that he would threaten him in such manner. He knew his main goal now would be to take his title back but he would rather die than give the title back to him.

  A knock came on the door but he was too occupied by his thought to hear it neither did he see when the person walked in.

  “Father” a voice woke him from his reverie and he turned to see his son standing before him.

  A young slender boy with brown curly hair and dark eyes.

  “What is it Denver?” He asked the young boy with similar attributes to him.

  “Why did you let him go?” Denver asked him.

  “What do you mean?” He asked.

  “Why did you let Luke go?” Denver asked again making it clearer to him.

  “I had to” he replied.

  “What do you mean you had to, you know quite well what next he is going to do. He is going to try to take the title back from you. Do you not already know that?” Denver asked why his father would make such a mistake, he never thought that he would do such a thing because he always saw his father as a perfect man with no flaws but letting Luke go was a flaw he did not expect.

  

  “I do”

  “Then why did you set him free when you could have killed him and gotten rid of him once and for all. Don’t tell me you are slipping once you had a taste of power?” he asked.

  “Don’t you think I already know that, you don’t think I have wanted to kill him.

  The problem is I can’t, I have already taken his title from him, it would be too soon to kill him. I left him in the cell to die due to his injuries with no food or water but when I went to him, he was totally fine. 

  You cannot just kill the late Alpha’s son just like that” he answered.

  “Does that matter, you are the Alpha, you can do whatever you want” Denver stated.

  “You are the naive and thoughtless one, have you never heard of a rebellion. If I kill the son of their previous Alpha then the pack would start a riot, revolt, name it whatever. I was able to get away easily with this title because Luke was the one who agreed to it making it a fair fight but if I kill him then that would make things worse.

  I have everything all planed out” he answered.

  “I hope so father” Denver looked away from him.

  

  Sensing his jerk interest to have Luke killed, he had to ask.

  “Why are you so eager for him to be dead?” Ryan asked his son who was more inquisitive over Luke’s death than him.

  “I detest him and want him dead soon, I have no specific reason than to say that I do not like him” he replied.

  “Why, is it because your ex broke up with you thinking she could have a shot with him?” Ryan teased his dear son.

  “I forgot to add that to the list, you can add that to the pure hatred I have for him” Denver answered and he laughed.

  “Trust your father, I will have his head very soon, right now I am working towards my second step of breaking him” he replied.

  “What is that?” Denver asked curius to know what else could harm Luke.

  “You will see in a weeks time” Ryan informed him and then dismissed him from his presence so that he could have some time to think.
