A breeder

A week had passed and there was yet another ceremony in the pack as if the last ceremony didn’t end badly.

The anticipated day for the Alpha to choose a breeder which was announced to the pack a day before the ceremony.

No one had expected Alpha Ryan would need a breeder because of how old he was. His mate died after giving birth to Denver and he had been alone for a while.

The breeder he will choose would bear the heir to the Alpha title , he would be the next Alpha irrespective of Denver his son because he was born when Ryan was still the Beta so he had no right to become the Alpha.

The hall was swarming with unmated girls between the age of 18 to 25 who haven’t found their mates, the omegas were no exception as they were told to present themselves also.

They were arranged in five consecutive lines according to their ranks and the omega were placed in the fifth line.

Men and women also attended the ceremony to see who the Alpha would pick and gossip about it on their way back. Every girl present there knew they stood the chance of becoming the new Luna of the pack and bearing the next Alpha. They were super excited about it making it known in their expensive appearances and how they acted thrilled for joy over such a news. Being the Luna may not be every girls dream but for the girls present at the ceremony, it was their dream. The odd ones left out were the omegas who were forced to be part of the line.

Walking towards the hall was Luke and Leo,

“Remind me again why I am being dragged out of my comfort zone to see this” Leo asked not excited to watch such an event. He preferred his sleep but Luke just wouldn’t let him stay home alone. Ever since he began leaving with him, Luke wouldn’t let him do some things alone.

“I want to see her” Luke replied.

“You mean Voilet” Leo asked and Luke turned sharply to him as if he had a hole in his head.

“Who else would it be?” He demanded.

“Sorry, was just trying to make sure that she was the one” Leo apologized joining him. They got in with the crowd and strange enough there was a mass number of girls waiting in line to be selected.

His eyes swept around searching for Voilet until he found her at the back of the fifth line, she was almost invisible and hid behind another omega. He could tell she wanted to escape and blend in with the crowd but the guard beside her was keeping a close watch so she couldn’t escape.

His heart melted when he saw her, she barely had any makeup on neither did she bother herself to dress well, her hair was messy and she couldn’t keep her face up for a long time rather pointing it to the ground always. Still she was the most beautiful woman to him, his stared keenly at her that he didn’t hear Leo talking to him.

“With the way you are staring, you might see through her clothes already” Leo teased him after being ignored three times by Luke and he earned a slap to the back of his head.

“I shouldn’t have brought you here” Luke stated beginning to regret his decision of taking him along but the deed had already been done and Leo was bound to speak more gibberish.

“Why is she in the line?, she doesn’t look like she wants to be there” Leo asked.

“I don’t know, maybe she was forced to be there” he answered.

Violet held her black dress dragging it down when she felt a stare on her, she searched around but she found no one, she turned back to face the stage.

Violet had thought she would see Luke but then he wouldn’t come for such an event or perhaps he didn’t care to see her, she thought to herself.

The doors to the inner room were opened and Alpha Ryan appeared before the people with a man standing beside him who immediately sprung forward to address the crowd.

“Welcome all, today marks a very important day in this pack.

Today one of our own would stand the chance of being the Luna and bearing the future Alpha.

I can see that our ladies are all prepared for this” he stated as the girls giggled and smiled about it. Violet had a scorn on her face already tired of the event.

“Now the Alpha will make his choice” he stated and Alpha Ryan walked in their midst.

He didn’t bother to go to the first line with girls of high status, such as daughters of the pack officials, or the second line, daughters of chief guards and warriors.

He went straight ahead to the fifth line scanning the omegas one by one.

“What is he doing?” Leo asked Luke who was already having a bad feeling about who he was going to choose. He did not expect that Alpha Ryan would leave the four lines to go to the omegas to select a breeder.

Alpha Ryan moved until he got to the back of the line, he found a beautiful girl no more in the line but hiding beside another omega, it was quite hard to see her though.

“Come” he stretched his hand towards her.

Voilet was so shocked that he would pick her so she stood in a daze without moving or blinking her eyes. She couldn’t even stretch her hand to him.

“Come” Alpha Ryan said again to her.

“The Alpha is speaking to you” the man from earlier snapped her out of the shock with his loud voice.

“Take my hand” Alpha Ryan said again stretching them to her. She was hesitant as she looked at him with fear in her eyes.

He moved closer to her covering the gap between them and grabbed her hand.

A loud growl resonated in the hall,

“This is not good” Leo panicked realizing that Luke was no longer by his side and the growl most definitely was coming from him.

Alpha Ryan paid no heed to the growl as he smiled at Voilet.

“You don’t need to be scared of me” he said to her.

Voilet tried to take her hand away from his grasp but he was much stronger than her holding her firmly.

“I don’t want this” she whispered softly.

“Are you rejecting the Alpha?” The man rebuked her making it seem like what she said was totally wrong.

Voilet was so scared to the point that she couldn’t utter a word, she could see the terror in Alpha Ryan’s eyes making her gulp down her words.

“Let go of my mate” A voice said and pulled Violet’s hand from Alpha Ryan.

“How dare you oppose the Alpha” Michael demanded of Luke.

“He is not an Alpha to me” Luke replied. He hid Voilet behind him facing Alpha Ryan dark gaze.

“You have some nerves coming here to disrupt this ceremony” Michael added further.

Alpha Ryan raised his hand and Michael was silent giving him the chance to address Luke.

“You are saying that this Omega is your mate” Alpha Ryan asked him.

“Yes”

“Is that true?” He turned to Violet to know.

Violet stared at Luke standing in front of her, she knew she was not certain if he was her mate or not, he had never told her anything so when he claimed she was his mate, she was surprised. She looked ahead and there was Alpha Ryan who she was about to be his breeder, she would do anything to make sure she doesn’t end up with him so she nodded her head in agreement with Luke to save herself.

“Yes, he is my mate” she replied.

“Then why were you on the line, you know that only umated females were allowed to participate in this. Why did you join it?” Alpha Ryan asked leaving her speechless to answer him.

“Does that matter, she has told you she has a mate so choose someone else” Luke barked at him.

“Mind how you speak to me boy, I am still the Alpha of this pack” Ryan cautioned him then he turned back to Violet.

“When?”

“How?”

“When did you find out he was your mate?” He asked her in details.

“Two weeks ago” she lied straight to his face and Luke was in sync with it.

“Isabella” a woman was called and she rushed towards Alpha Ryan.

“Yes Alpha” she uttered keeping her head down in submission.

“How old is this Onega?” He asked.

Isabella was the matron in the pack house, she took care of all the omegas and made sure they were all in check assigning duties to them, she knew about their private lives, their ages and every single detail.

“She is nineteen, soon to be twenty in a few days” she replied.

Alpha Ryan dismissed her and turned towards Voilet,

“You can only know your mate when you are twenty, did you just lie to me Omega” he yelled, his voice deep resonating through the four walls of the hall.

“She didn’t, she is my mate” Luke answered protecting her from him.

“If she really is your mate then why did you let her continue working as an omega all those years when you could have taken her as your own” Alpha Ryan asked him a reasonable question.

Luke was so stunned that he couldn’t bring an answer immediately, how could he tell them that he wanted her to find out on her own because he was scared she might reject him or might not have feelings for him like he did for her.

“I” he stuttered.

“Take her, she is not his mate” Alpha Ryan ordered and Violet was held by two guards.

“Let her go” Luke fought back, he took the sword from the guard and cut his head off then smote the other guard by stabbing his chest with the sword.

“Nobody touches my mate” he said protecting Violet from them. His bloodied hand holding unto the sword in his right hand he covered her with his left.

“Take him down” Alpha Ryan ordered and a dozen men surrounded Luke.

A dark growl came from behind with Leo trying to help Luke but he was caught and pinned to the wall by Alpha Ryan.

Luke also was tackled down by those men laying him on the ground.

Violet who was in the midst of it all wanted to run away from there but Michael held her hand before she could try.

“Luke, you have been held accountable for going against the Alpha, you will be punished by the law of the pack. Lock him up” Alpha Ryan ordered then turned to Leo.

“If you don’t want to end up like your friend then stand down” he warned him and released him from his grip.

Alpha Ryan walked right past Luke and went ahead to Violet, he grabbed her by the hand taking her away. Luke watched with agony in his heart from watching his mate get taken away from him.

“Violet” he yelled her name tackled down by a dozen men. She turned back to him with tears in her eyes, her life was about to be ruined by being the breeder for the Alpha and no one was able to save her.
