    Devika’s POV

Two years later…

“I hope you are prepared and have given it careful thought. Because after this there is no going back which means regretting would not be helpful enough.” Said Adrian breaking the bridge of my thoughts, the thoughts including the doubt if I am going on the right path or not. He seems to be in more doubt in comparison to me. Since the day I told him my decision he seems to not be confident about it. He, himself came up with this idea, and now when I agreed he has been, don’t know for what reason in doubt.

Like now, only a few hours are left and this man is asking me if I am prepared. If not for this firm decision I have left no other way for myself to take a step ahead toward my goal. He is the only one upon whom I can rely and I don’t care about any ifs in between it. And, what matters to me is just that I am not forcing him or taking advantage of him. And, therefore, I have made everything clear to him.

“What do you think Adrian I am doing?” I questioned him and chuckled while looking at him through the mirror in front of me. “I would not have been here getting myself dolled if the case would have been the opposite.”  Passing him a smile I said, knowing very well how much guilty he would feel if his doubt gets confirmed because actually even after thinking more than enough times I am still in doubt about my decision though it is only ten percent it matters.

I sighed seeing the frown still visible on his forehead, “I am really prepared Adrian, or else I would not have been here. And, you know how much this matters to me, more than anything in this world.” Getting up from my seat, I turned around and walked to him. Taking his hand in mine, I raised my head contacting my eyes with his. “You know how much I trust you, right? Right now, you are the only one closest to me in this world except my pack members…”

“Our pack members.” He corrects me making me pause and feel contentment in my heart at how not only he but everyone in the pack has accepted us. How just in such a short time all of them got mixed with everyone here is really unbelievable. But, I am obliged and happy about it more than anything else now because after whatever happened two years ago all of them are my responsibility which comes first.

And, now seeing them living happily and comfortably makes me feel a bit happy, at least this promise I made to Brent is fulfilled. Nothing else but might be seeing his family happy he might smile and come over the sadness of me not being able to keep the other promise and wish of him. “I am prepared or not should not be the question right now but whether you are sure or not should be the question,” I said looking at him with a small smile as I do not want to let him figure out the guilt inside me.

Otherwise, we would again have a round of discussion regarding it and I am just tired of it. “I am the Alpha, you would not have been here if I was not sure of it. Anyways, see you after a few hours. I am sure you must have a lot to take care of right now.” I frowned hearing him as his words sounded humorous to me.

“You are the Alpha, Adrian. Your time must be occupied with various things, not mine. So you better leave and take care of everything, I don’t like latecomers. So, you better not insult me.” I said eyeing him and getting back to my work with the hope of him leaving me alone. At least for a few hours or minutes can be said I need for myself. Soon the girls will arrive to help me with the preparation and once everything starts I very well know, there won’t be any second for myself.

He raised his brow at me as if my words amused him, “Of course, I will be on time, waiting for you. I can’t even dare to make you feel insulted.” Very sweetly he said making me chuckle. He is known for his cold treatment but he definitely is different from it. After arriving here, in his pack, I was just so lost and secluded hiding behind the walls away from everyone. But this man helped me in overcoming those and guided me throughout.

With the help of Marcus and him, I was able to settle our pack members here and provide them with their needs. “Thank you once again, Adrian. Everything aside, you already have done a lot for me and Brent. After which again, this,” I took a deep breath and sighed.

He tsked, “Will you stop saying it? I am not doing anything so great, if you are gaining something then I am also gaining in return if you remember that. So, I am nobody to be thanked.” He said sounding frustrated with it.

“Adrian, I am thankful to you as a Luna who was not even capable enough to provide at least a shelter over their head. And, no matter what anyone or even you say, I will always be obliged to you for that.  But, as you said our deal is profitable to both of us, that’s right. And, I am not thanking you for it.” I said stating the point, “So you need to accept my thanks and I am sure Brent would also be thankful to you if he would have been here.”

Taking a deep breath, I smiled at him, “You should go and take a rest, Adrian. I know well enough that you have not taken a rest since yesterday and the evening is going to be very hectic for you.” He sighed looking at me which I did not like at all because his gaze are speaking about how bad he felt for me but though he does not mean it, I don’t need anyone’s sympathy. I was the Luna of my previous pack and most importantly the mate of Brent, I cannot disappoint him by being sympathized.

He always used to say, ‘Being sympathized proves you as weak, so fight and do anything for what you want but never act sympathetic.’ And, I cannot disappoint him anymore.

Nodding his head, “I am fine, I am habituated to such change of schedule. You should instead take some time instead of dolling up so early and enjoy the freedom of yours.” I frowned at his words clearly showing my dissatisfaction with his words. “You know already how being a Luna is like a never-ending job. You will be responsible for the whole pack so obviously, your freedom somehow will be gone as you will require to be present when something occurs or some pack members would need their Luna.”

This man is very particular when it comes to his pack and I just don’t understand why everyone calls him a cold alpha who has no concern for his pack except for taking advantage of the Alpha position. “Also this will be the last time we will talk as individuals to each other but after your title ceremony, you will be my mate and Luna. So, I wanted to bid you last time before marking you as my mate.”

Yes, today is my Luna ceremony in his pack, the silver crest pack. I will in just a few hours become the Luna, again but with some conditions and deals.

Devika’s POVTen months ago…“Did you really think that you would get rid of me so easily?” I still heard the voice after almost a year. And, my whole body felt the goosebumps as the day from fourteen months ago flashed in front of my eyes and rage starts taking over my senses making me fuel up. “Oh, come on, you should stop wasting your energy, again and again, trying to free yourself. You can’t…”I raised my head as he stopped just a few inches away from me, “What? Are you shocked?” he questioned making me grit my teeth at his sight. “Oh, how exciting it is to finally be able to face the murderer of your mate, right? Ahh, this… this is what I was waiting to see for a year. Your throbbing like this is just so satisfying, I missed it in your mate’s case. I have to say he was a brave and determined Alpha.” For a second he got me off guard by the look on his face but it is said that eyes never lie. Already, Willow is so weak, and upon that again a dosage would just make her situation worst. “Are you mad?” I yelled as he came to me and smirked looking at me. The jerk was enjoying seeing my condition, “Ahh, it’s so good seeing you like this.” I had before thought that just behaving calmly would get me some time until Adrian and Marcus arrive but instead it is happening completely opposite. The situation just got worsen, I think. “What? Did you really think I would trust you? I very well know that now, or just not long after your pack members will arrive and you are just making time until then.” Hearing him, I felt dumb enough to even think that he could not guess about my pretention. Anyways we require an extra hand in training the female warriors and members of the pack.” When I said it, I was actually not that serious with the consideration of her getting discharged from the hospital not long ago. But this woman just is so stubborn when it comes to getting what she wants. “Yes, Samuel, please do as Alpha said. I actually am thinking about why the thought of getting back to training did not strike me.” Samuel sighed hearing her but did not give her any reply instead tried to convince me to not let her join now. “Alpha, I think she should still rest a few more days. Devika had mentioned something about going for a walk in the woods, wanting to clear her head. It was unlike her to disappear without a word, and Adrian's concern grew with every passing minute.
