Devika’s POV

While glaring at him and seeing his smirk, the thought occurred in my head, “What have you done?” He frowned for a second but in a few seconds, the expression changed as he realizes what I am talking about. “What did you do to my wolf?” I gritted keeping myself from yelling and maintaining my cool. Adrian and Marcus must be coming for me, I just need to handle the situation for some time longer.

“I questioned you something, I know well that you definitely have played some dirty trick of yours but I swear if something happens to her…” I paused making sure to let him know the meaning without completing the sentence.

“Don’t worry, nothing will happen to her...” I was about to take a sigh of breath hearing but his smirk did not allow me because I already had guessed his next words, “for now.”

Fear for Willow seeped in me, “What do you mean for now?”

He shrugged his shoulder, “I mean…” he whispered leaning down in my ears while sniffing on my neck. If not for Willow, I would have knocked his head without even thinking for a second. “not long after the effect of wolfsbane will start showing its effect.” Hearing his words, my eyes widened. Wolfsbane is equal to poison for werewolves, and due to we can even lose our wolf forever.

“What? Why are you so shocked?” He chuckled and questioned pulling his face back from my neck. With just a few inches of gap between our faces, “You see, it is not my fault. If you had not run away from me a year ago, I would not have been forced to do so. It is just a mere lesson or we can say a warning for you to not try and act over-smart here. Or else, you might lose her forever.”

It would be a lie if I’d say that his words didn’t stir fear inside, of course losing Willow is something equal to losing my everything. And, the thought of them being late in coming here would just make no sense for me therefore, I should not agitate him and take a risk. “Huh, alright. Say, what you want from me? Why am I here?”

I just need to pass time and be careful of not pissing him until, Adrian and others arrives here. ‘For Willow, just for her Devi you have to do this.’ with the thought I motivated myself to keep my calm and let the bastard do as he wish.

Adrian’s POV

“Alpha, we should go ahead, already we are late. Don’t know how Luna must be…” Marcus spoke but shut his mouth as I glared at him. I understand him, but since they became members of my pack calling Devika still Luna would only create confusion in the head of someone who doesn’t know about them. “I mean, what if we are late and something…”

“Marcus, you were the beta, right?” I questioned to which he nodded his head looking at me with confusion. “Then, how come you don’t understand that if he wanted to only kill Devika then he would not have taken the effort of bringing her here? He would have killed her the moment he got her.” He is too protective whenever it comes to Devika, and I understand the position or situation they faced is the reason behind it. He always is there for her, it has been more than a year now since they came to our pack. Seeing his and the rest of the member’s loyalty toward her was the top reason for me into accepting them in my pack except their being from Brent’s pack and his mate.

It is not always when you would find such dedicated pack members after the pack is disbanded. “Alpha, the root is clear from the southern border. We can take that, it is dark and bushy enough for us to get inside without being noticed. Mostly even if there will be, not more than two guards will be.” Samuel said as he came after checking the borders. This is the reason I trust him more than a number of our warriors, he knows well enough what’s to be done in what situation.

“That’s the back side of the packhouse and I think taking the secret door would be helpful and easier for us,” Marcus said.

He is just like Samuel when it comes to the pack but in the case of Devika’s sentiments take over him and in such a situation, I cannot take the risk. “Come on then let’s go, Marcus, you would come with me as you know about the packhouse. Samuel, you know what you have to do right?”

Marcus and I both went straight to the southern border of the pack whereas Samuel moved to the opposite side in order to distract Joseph in the meantime of which we both will find Devika. After which the alpha of this pack will have to face the consequence of daring to come for my pack member. If he thought that she is just a mere pack member and nothing would happen then he is mistaken. Each and single pack member matters to me, they are my responsibility and Devika has been a special case since she is not a normal member but a past Luna whom I respect. Not because of her past position but because of her hard work and kindness she has.

The way she supported her pack members and did every possibility in her hands to keep them protected. The way all the members were tensed when they arrived at our pack for help with Devika being in the worst condition, I never saw any she-wolf in my life. Her legs were covered in blood while her skin turned pale and her lips grey. And, when I saw her and the kids in such a condition I was able to make them go through verifications before getting them medication.

I just enquired Marcus when others were sent to our pack hospital, it was Marcus who told me about what happened and how they lost their alpha and his heir in the process of protecting the pack members. And, seeing the pack members being tensed for their Luna who is no more a Luna the respect for her in my heart took place. And, not only that even after her getting discharged from the hospital, she took note of her pack members being treated respectfully and equally like my pack members.

Till a few months after that, she used to take care of them, if had to sacrifice her own necessities she never hesitated even after not getting over the loss she faced. And, that continues still today but now the case has been the opposite as they got mixed in our pack and now take care of her. She has great fighting skills which made her gain a position among our warriors. I still would say she has some exceptional technics but still she could be stated as the strongest she-wolf in the whole city. It is a rare site to see any she-wolf taking over the male wolf in a such few seconds.

Even Samuel was shocked when he lost to her, he was not even able to realize what happened to them in those seconds. “Alpha, we should now go, Samuel is already there.” I nodded while looking around to be careful that no one is around. “What about the members in the house?” I questioned him as most of the pack has its members live in the packhouse.

“We used to have members before in the packhouse but now I don’t think Joseph would let it continue. He is an obsessive and selfish brat, he betrayed his own pack for it. I don’t think anyone would be inside except him.” Hearing him I nodded and followed him to the secret door.

But this woman just is so stubborn when it comes to getting what she wants. “Yes, Samuel, please do as Alpha said. I actually am thinking about why the thought of getting back to training did not strike me.” Samuel sighed hearing her but did not give her any reply instead tried to convince me to not let her join now. “Alpha, I think she should still rest a few more days. And, that occupied my mind making me startle at the sudden howls and claps from all the pack members which I did not expect even a bit. With that, the nervousness faded off me, “Thank you everyone for accepting and welcoming me with open hearts.” With one of the best, I could offer everyone I said.
