{Rose's POV}
I hoped today would go better than yesterday. I couldn't believe how derailed the whole day had gotten. Today was supposed to be the beginning of a great year, yet Jax was relentless. I hopped out of my car just as Lily arrived. She hopped off Baby and smiled at me.
“New day! Let's dominate today!” She said cheerfully, clapping me on my shoulder.
I smiled at her before getting distracted by the red car that parked on the other side of mine. Jax and Pat. I hadn't even realized they rode in together, though I guess it made sense. After Jax parked he looked directly at me for a moment, before looking at Pat to say something. Pat looked over at me now, then back at Jax.
This was driving me insane already. I decided to walk over and tap on his window. He actually had the audacity to look surprised. He opened the door and stepped out, moving around me but he didn't say anything to me.
“What the hell, Jax. I know you parked next to me on purpose. What's your new plan for tormenting me?”
He seemed to actually sigh, and finally looked at me again. “No plan, Rose.” Rose?! He literally never called me Rose. It was always Rosie. “Just parking and heading into school.” He said calmly. He began to walk away but I wasn't done.
I grabbed his wrist and he spun to face me, his expression alarmed yet almost unreadable, and his eyes wide. Using my grip on his wrist, he pulled me over to him and we were practically touching front to front, almost face to face.
“I do not, recommend, doing that, Rose.” He said slowly and quietly. My heart was racing and I felt weak. He stared intensely into my eyes and didn't pull away or push me away for what felt like forever. I was wondering why Lily hadn't stepped in yet.
His breath seemed to shake for a moment, and I realized I was actually still holding his wrist. I let go, and he took a step back. Just one step. I felt as if I was frozen in place. My heart was still racing.
After what seemed like another year, he turned away from me and walked over to Pat, who was essentially blocking Lily from us. I guess that explained that, but why did Pat do that? They walked away together and Lily came rushing over to me.
“Did he hurt you?! I swear to Goddess....” She seemed panicked.
I still couldn't move. I suddenly realized that he actually didn't hurt me, at all. As intense as that was, and completely confusing, he didn't hurt me. I stared at my hand that had grabbed him. It was tingling slightly.
“No, no he didn't. What in the world...” I was still staring at my hand.
{Jax's POV}
I confided in Pat about me dreaming of her last night. I told him I was feeling super off today because of it. We were eating breakfast. Pat finished first.
“Maybe today will be uneventful.” He offered. I had a feeling he was wrong.
We left together and as we got to the school I quickly parked. Once again my hairs stood on end and I could smell her. And for good reason, it turned out I actually parked next to her car, and she was still there talking to Lily. As I looked at her, she was looking at me, too.
I looked over at Jax, alarm in my eyes. “Sooo much for uneventful, I just freaking parked next to Rose.” Pat looked over before looking back at me.
“Good job.” He teased. “She's totally not going to think you are stalking her.” He added sarcastically.
I closed my eyes when I heard a tapping on my window. I looked at her in shock. She never really approached me, and I was kind of hoping to avoid her despite my parking mishap. Try to ignore her. Maybe you can diffuse the situation by trying to lay low. I opened my door and slipped out around her, closing my door.
“What the hell, Jax. I know you parked next to me on purpose. What's your new plan for tormenting me?” She was yelling now, accusation heavy in her voice.
I sighed. So much for trying to avoid confrontation. I finally looked at her again and my heart stuttered. “No plan, Rose.” I told her honestly. “Just parking and heading into school.” Again, just being honest. I was trying my absolute hardest to stay calm even though my chest felt as if it was going to pop.
I began to walk away, about to take a deep breath, when I suddenly felt electricity shoot through my arm and hand, originating at my wrist. She had grabbed me. She grabbed my wrist. My breath caught and as I struggled to breathe, Luca went insane.
I gasped silently, trying to get air, as my heart seemed to simultaneously stop and race. I spun to face her, and pulled her over to me, just barely resisting pulling her into my arms. I still couldn't breathe.
She was so insanely close to me now, we were nearly touching, aside from her hand still on my wrist, which was still sending electricity throughout my arm and body. “I do not, recommend, doing that, Rose.” I barely managed to get out, my vision beginning to get hazy.
I stared into her amazing eyes, resisting the urge to grab her and pull her against me, resisting the urge to touch her face, resisting the urge to taste her lips. My breath finally seemed to come back as I took a shaky breath.
She finally let go and I forced myself to take a step back before I was unable to resist these urges any longer. It hurt to take a step away from her, I so desperately wanted to feel her against me. I continued to stare at her for a moment before it seemed like my brain began working again.
I begrudgingly turned away from her, and walked over to Pat, not even noticing Lily at this point. Breathing was still a chore for me. We quickly walked away while mindlinking to keep our conversation completely private.
“Fuck that was... Fuck... I am certain of it now. She's going to be my mate. So much for trying to lay low.” I could still feel a strong tingling sensation on my wrist.
“That was insane to witness, honestly. Me and Lily were absolutely frozen. I could feel the intensity pouring off of you two.”
“As much as I don't want to, but also do, I think I need to keep my distance and try to avoid her. I don't even want to talk about the things I wanted to do to her.” I shuddered, still wishing I could feel and taste her lips. “This school year is going to be very, very, complicated.”
{Jax's POV} All things considered, I actually hadn't given much thought to my potential mate before this school year. I had so much going on between therapy, education, training, and helping out at home, my future mate was the last thing on my mind. I knew it was popular to fantasize about your potential mate, do think about all the coming sensations and the unimaginable connection with another person. And since my future mate would be Luna, there would also be the hope of a strong, kind, loyal, and trustworthy partner. But I never had the time nor energy to think about these things, and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to care. That is, until I encountered Rose this school year. Suddenly e
{Rose's POV} Lily and I walked over to our lockers in silence. We weren't exactly sure what to say at this point. What had just happened was strange and intense. I was really confused and I still felt a little bit tingly. We put our stuff in our lockers in silence still, both of us stunned beyond words. I still wasn't sure what had just happened. When he had pulled me over to him, I completely expected violence of some kind. Not that. Not that intense stare-down. Before then I had never noticed that his eyes were a leafy green, close to my wolf's emerald green eyes. The color was quite complimentary to his sandy blond hair that was just a few inches long and rather shaggy.
I basically coasted through my next class deep in thought and when I got to my next class I sat down next to Lily, still feeling kind of distant. She leaned over and whispered in my ear. “Nothing happened last class.” I knew what she was referring to. Jax was in her last class. Even without the weirdness it was normal for us to share what happens regarding him because he was such a bully toward me. But now, now it felt even more important. We were pretty quiet after class, and we ended up going our separate ways pretty quietly because I was still frustrated with Cass, feeling frustrated with myself, and I felt weird around Lily for some reason. My next class went by in a complete blur as well, and as I
